and what is the poor disabled were yelling bad things at our players? Are they able to get away with that just because they are disabled. Since when does being disabled (or anything else) give them a right to do what they want. Liberal snowflake.
Of course being disabled doesn't mean you can yell bad things but equally, Austin should not be abusing disabled people. He is a role model to millions of children around Europe and possibly the world. What message is he sending them? That the abuse of the disabled is fine. An utter disgrace who has brought shame to our club.

How exactly do you know he was doing this? Were you there? Did you see it? None of the TV cameras or reporters who were there saw anything like it and if they had, you can be sure, they'd be highlighting it. Hopefully, Austin doesn't read this forum because if he does he may have a case for taking legal action for libel against you. I don't know which club you support but stop trying to bring shame to our club by spreading rumours like this.

What are you guys making of obafemi? At times he's reminding me a bit of shayne long with the erratic finishing..but at the same time his pace seems to him chances all the time.. kinda interested to see how he would do in a full game now :)

His finishing worries me a bit but he's clearly young and needs to be given time. Having said that the young Steve Moran would probably have been a bit more composed at the same age. The Shane Long comparison has occurred to me also. But time will tell. Far better that we're discussing the potential of a young striker than a £19m Argentinian misfit.

Supports Watford from memory, so why he pops up in an SFC forum I have no idea. Stirs up trouble every time he emerges from the swamp and mods ought to grow a backbone and ban him.

Austin is a massive be11end though.

Most would have said that when he played for Swindon against us certainly.

I don't think we can stand by and ignore one of our players goading disabled people. If these fans were Jewish or black there would be hell to pay but being disabled isn't seen as being as bad as Jewish or black so nothing will happen. Austin needs to be sacked for gross misconduct IMO.

Austin has throughout his career made a habit of goading the opposition fans, nothing new in that. Remember his time at Swindon against us in L1 ? Prime example. I think he wound a few on the Forum up. His time with us includes running past Bournemouth fans laughing at them and making a gesture after scoring.

As for yesterday, I doubt he was mocking their disability, can't see he'd be that insensitive, but probably made gestures. Is that "gross misconduct" all of a sudden ?

I've watched him a lot in the Junior teams and am still unconvinced. In my opinion Marcus Barnes and Ty Johnson are better prospects with better technical ability, more clinical finishing qualities and every bit as fast as Michael Obefami. In my book he has always been a bit one-dimensional but am open minded as to what he can do under the tuition of a coach that cares about young players.

I do like that everytime we see him his explosiveness is always giving him chances. Ever since we saw him in the Spurs game.. yesterday probably could have had a hatrick in his cameo

Interesting..in which way do you think he is one dimensional ? Also does his finishing seem as erratic when he's playing in the youth teams or is it maybe more of a confidence or composure thing ?

He had 3 decent chances yesterday and converted 1. I was impressed in how he made 3 yards of space by going backwards for his goal, showed a bit of composure and know how. Hope he gets more chances to develop now, looks to have good pace too.

Obafemi's ratio of big chances/minutes played suggests he is doing something right with his movement and that he is in the right places.

Very promising and pace will always worry defenders.

Seems a nice lad but with confidence too.

This. His movement was also vital for an assist in an earlier game (was it that he dropped back and then slotted it to Armstrong?)

Seems to find space in the box, just by shifting a yard or two.

Obafemi is a brilliant option for us and he brings excitement too.

As a tiring defender he is the last thing I would want on the pitch.

Well done RH for selecting him over the obvious options, and the academy must be buzzing right now with the like of Tyrone getting a few minutes too.

PS Who do you think might be the next young lad that will get a few minutes in the busy period?

I reckon Ralph could make the 19million misfit look like a half decent player.

he doesn't look a natural finisher to me. Did he score goals for fun in the academy? Love seeing youngsters get their chance, but these guys haven't improved us yet. Given time they may well do.

People can think what they want about Charlie Austin, but you’ll notice he’s the first one with his arm around the youngsters every single game. Even back when Sims made his debut I remember Chaz posting about him on social media. That sort of leadership and encouragement for the youngsters can be invaluable.

goading fans, becomes abusing fans, becomes abusing the disabled. Considering you saw nothing, perhaps it's best you stopped posting your opinion on this subject in such certain terms. I am not a big fan of Austin as a player, and would have no hesitation in condemning any Saints player if his actions were to fall below the standards I would set myself, but I find the wording being used to describe his supposed actions, with no evidence to support it, disgraceful.

From what I've seen of the u23s on video I'd say Tyreke Johnson has more skill and equivalent pace. MO has a certain physical robustness though, and perhaps this is what is preferred at the moment in the sheer physicality of the PL.

I have seen a few clips of him and I would like him to succeed but he does not seem to be very skilful and has a poor first touch which I think is needed for a top class striker.

I'd like to see Barnes added to the 25 in January to see what he can do. Before his injury a couple of years ago I thought he was potentially very good.

Think you'll find he will be added. He would probably have played already if the Club had registered him, scores more than Obafemi and is a better all round player. Very bad management that he was omitted from the squad originally. In theory the squad can be changed as soon as the transfer window opens.
