beatlesaint Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 McCarthy Valery Bednarek Vestergaard Targett Romeu Hojbjerg Lemina Armstrong Redmond Austin Could be his 4-2-2-2 formation there.
supersonic Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Looks like 4-3-3. No Cedric in the squad at all - is he injured?
Saint-Reece Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Do we reckon that’s a 4-2-2-2 then with Armstrong and Lemina behind Austin and Redmond?
whelk Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Glad to see Rom back. Have we now tried every CB permutation? Not surprised Yoshida dropped. V poor with Ralph watching Wednesday. Target a weak link though
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Looks like 4-3-3. No Cedric in the squad at all - is he injured? Think so
Manuel Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Yeah I would imagine 4-3-3 with that lot, but we will see.
Saint Garrett Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Romeu and Bednarek in from the cold. 3 man midfield with an anchor, shame about Austin starting Noticeable absentees Cedric and Gabbi
whelk Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Lemina to put in one of those immense performances he’s capable of please.
Baird of the land Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Guessing he’s going for aerial ability from his 2 center backs. Glad Valery is starting. Thought Romeu looked so off the pace in his cameo on wed, so hoping that won’t be the case today. Maybe in for his height too. Given how he wants to play really suprised Austin is starting. Also disappointed Davis is completely absent after playing really well we’d.
Cabbage_Face Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Odd Side. No JWP in starting 11 but Redmond. Cruel.
mrfahaji Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Wondering if Austin impressed with his cameo appearance on Wednesday, but Hasenhuttl doesn’t realise he is terrible if he starts.
LeBizzier69 Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Great to see (speaking too soon possibly) Bednarek back in. Thought it odd he’s been out in the cold given how well he did end of last season.
derry Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 A lot more backbone in this team. I can see where he is going.
Baird of the land Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 3 CB's on the bench and no Obafemi .. Just spotted the cb thing. That’s completely bizarre.
mrfahaji Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 I think we would lose with that side under Hughes. So I hope whatever he has tried to instill in the squad this week works, and this is the right team for it.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Just spotted the cb thing. That’s completely bizarre. Full back cover perhaps
Nolan Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 I think Vestergaard, Hojbjerg and Romeu all probably benefit from Bundesliga experience and potentially seeing Hasenhüttl's style in action.
Cabbage_Face Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Is it? McCarthy Valery, Vesta, Berdanek, Targett Lemina Rom Hoj Redmond Chaz Armstron or McCarthy Valery, Vesta, Berdanek, Targett Rom Hoj Lemina Armstrong Redmond Ings
nta786 Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Is it? McCarthy Valery, Vesta, Berdanek, Targett Lemina Rom Hoj Redmond Chaz Armstron or McCarthy Valery, Vesta, Berdanek, Targett Rom Hoj Lemina Armstrong Redmond Ings my guess is that it is a 433, that's what he said in his presser on Thursday that he can play a 433/343 if his preferred 4222 isn't ready. Lemina likelier to be the more advanced of the midfield 3 too probably.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Is it? McCarthy Valery, Vesta, Berdanek, Targett Lemina Rom Hoj Redmond Chaz Armstron or McCarthy Valery, Vesta, Berdanek, Targett Rom Hoj Lemina Armstrong Redmond Ings Pretty sure it’ll be 4-3-3, at least to start. We need to control the middle and need Lemina in there to do that.
trousers Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 No impact players on the bench. Could be a long afternoon...!
JustMike Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Is it? McCarthy Valery, Vesta, Berdanek, Targett Lemina Rom Hoj Redmond Chaz Armstron or McCarthy Valery, Vesta, Berdanek, Targett Rom Hoj Lemina Armstrong Redmond Ings Definitely not the latter because Ings isn't playing
ericofarabia Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Having just seen the Cardiff line up ...I have never heard of any of them except Arter!! Lets hope for a feel good factor with the new boss rather than a fear they'll be out on their arses if they dont perform. Our wing backs and mid fielders will have to cover Target and Valery closely. Optimistic .... why do this to myself, but feel like a win on the cards today. COYS Viva la revolution!!
Shandy_Top_89 Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Probably a case of solidify first, as it will take some time for his approach to settle in. Fairly reasonable logic, but not the most exciting team. Also probably have Vestergaard and Romeu back in to provide some height and strength against Warnock-ball.
Badger Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 No impact players on the bench. Could be a long afternoon...! Who else is available to him to fit in with that description though ? With the reported injuries that seems to be a shuffling of a fairly limited pack.
Cabbage_Face Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 I honestly don't see us winning, we have more of a chance now with new manager syndrome. But I don't see this as the most pivotal game now we have a new manager. If Hughes was still clowning about, then it was a must win.
iansums Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Definitely not the latter because Ings isn't playing Ha ha, well spotted #mess
Chez Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 No impact players on the bench. Not sure i understand what you mean. Gabbi and Elyounoussi are attacking players that you would hope could create or score a goal if they are brought on. Whether they make any impact on this specific game is a different story
Cabbage_Face Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Surely Gabbi is "impact" as his goal from the bench kept us up. #mess
Chez Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 I honesty don't know if Bednarek is any good. He did OK in five man defence, but not exactly exposed. Cardiff one of the easiest opponents he could face, so you'd hope he looked as solid as a rock.

Bad Wolf Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 OS says Soares injured I say he's just sh1te.
DT Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Good side I reckon. Austin a bit of an outlier though. Good to see he’s immediately seen that Hoedt is gash and perhaps that Bertrand is disruptive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Chez Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 I had this thought earlier, looked it up and he is playing in a back four with Poland. wonder how he has been doing. Poland haven't kept a lot of clean sheets in recent times, but he may have been good for them. I'm not sure I was terribly impressed. he didnt look dominant in the air or fast for us.
Cabbage_Face Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Austin is in the side because of one reason. He can finish. Give him 5 chances in the box, he will score 3 or 4. Give anyone else them, god knows. If Ralph want's his 10 second rule to work, he needs a finisher at the end of it.
Bad Wolf Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Yeah, 6th, 8th and a european championship medal. must be rubbish Ah but to use the consensus opinion on this forum as logic...That 8th placed team finished closer to the relegation zone than 7th. If the manager can't claim it as an achievement then neither can the players.
Manuel Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Works for me... http://soccerlegacy.net/premier-league-live-stream-4/
Supersubpuckett Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Have heard similar to this before, and that he had the captains armband in an attempt to temper this. perhaps a reason southgate didn't pick him for the world cup
rpb Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 Also good - http://www.totalsportss.com/cardiff-vs-southampton/
Chez Posted 8 December, 2018 Posted 8 December, 2018 perhaps a reason southgate didn't pick him for the world cup he didn't puck hi because he had a pretty average season. No more, no less.
