We need Allardycian grit. Sorry but we do. It's the only way we can survive. Nothing else will do it

Neolithic hoofball is not the way forwards

Why? If your team is sh1te you may as well make a bit of money. I've never once bet on Saints. I always bet against them.

Because he's full of sh1t.

Probably won another £3m today with his "bets

We really need to learn how to defend second league game in a row where scoring two goals won't be enough to win all set up to to lose 2-3 to a controversial man u goal in injury time now.

Absolute school boy defending for both goals.

2-3 is probably optimistic at this stage.

This formation leaves us wide open and the three centre backs seem like they have no idea what they should be doing. We need to switch to 4-5-1 and try and take control of possession in the middle of the park. I really fear for the second half.
Yep, wing backs keep pushing on as they have to in this formation, then the centre backs (vestergaard is the worst) are pressing high up the pitch when there is no cover behind them.

Goal 1: Soft by Yoshida, Vesegaard gave up (or is really really slow)

Goal 2: Again Yoshida but Hoj and Vestegaard nowhere near their assignments, Vestegaard gave up again.

So soft.

Hoedt, Stephens, Vestergaard, Yoshida all have one thing in common - they are all extremely average.....I mean ****e !

Perhaps people will now see that Hoedt isn’t really any worse than the others.... at least unlike the big Danish oil tanker he can recover and run back.....does **** all but at least makes the effort !

The replays for the Man U goals make for grim viewing...very weak defending. Rashford just shrugged off Yoshida for the first goal, and Lukaku was wide open.

On a positive note, Redmond looked excellent on the Armstrong goal.

Sportsnet saying Saints basically went from calm to full panic by going 2-0 up.

“Any other team and that’s a 2-0 HT lead, Saints have no confidence and it shows” (paraphrasing).

whatever the result it's a cracking game to watch
Cracking games are no good to us mack, need wins and points. We'll be seeing you next season.

Positives: Redmond, Lemina and the kids are doing all right.

This might also be Hughes' final match.

And at least it's not a rubbish game.

So, not all doom and gloom...

No protection in front of that defence

It’s nothing to do with protection. It’s defenders not doing, or not being capable, of doing their job.

For me Lemina and Hoj to similar. Need a Wanyama

You see it every game at SMS these days the players in Red white just deflate before your eyes as soon as it starts to go wrong. The supporters aren't much better even at 2-0 up you still fancied Man u to get back in it.

People calling for Hoedt, we would be 5 down by now. He can’t even pass 2 meters

You’re ****ing clueless. It’s the one thing he can do, he passes the ball well for a centre half.

'Mark Hughes has sent his side out early', because he's run out of things to say about how to defend. Not knowing anything in the first place

I don't get the criticism of Hughes so far here. He juggled up the line-up, putting in some younger guys, and we are much more competitive than most thought we would be.

Vent at me or stick a few quid on united and ease the pain of the inevitable!!

We are not winning this game now. You may as well get something from SFC.

You've missed 7/1 but United are still 11/10.

They know they'll see goals.

Am I right in thinking that's Cedric's first PL goal?

Exactly.

I recall the commentators on my feed describing it as his first PL goal...he did score against Fulham in the Cup last season.

And yet all the headlines are about Lukaku's first goal for 12 games.

Huh!

So 3-2, 4-2 or 5-2 Utd? Guess it depends how long we can keep it all square.

Call me negative but I'm opting for 5-2. I think once we let another in, the confidence will well and truly go. Lukaku will get 3.

I think the criticism stems from him changing formation and personnel without a clue what his best team is or the formation they should play in. He needs to decide on a system, a starting XI and stick with it. I’d give him patience and appreciation for that, but he simply looks lost, as do the players on occasions.
