Lighthouse Posted 27 November, 2018 Posted 27 November, 2018 Start of a tough run of fixtures, so luckily we've already got some points on the board and a nice, healthy gap to the drop zone. Whoever we put out is going to look unfit, badly motivated and lacking in confidence, so I'll just go with McC Valery - Yoshi - Vest - Bednarek - Bertrand Hoj - Lemina Armstrong O'Bafemi - Gabbi
Baird of the land Posted 27 November, 2018 Posted 27 November, 2018 Hughes brings back Cedric, hoedt and Austin and we lose. Board finally see the light and sack him. The end.
Cabbage_Face Posted 27 November, 2018 Posted 27 November, 2018 Hoedt will waltz back in the side and cause panic and unrest to the whole back 4. With Hughes in charge we will just be “unlucky” like every game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Heisenberg Posted 27 November, 2018 Posted 27 November, 2018 It's been a little while since we last best top 6 side in the league. #940days
Saint_lambden Posted 27 November, 2018 Posted 27 November, 2018 ----------------Macca------------ --Valery---Yoshi---Vest--Bertrand-- ------------Lemina-Hoj------------- --Gabbi------Armstrong---Redmond-- ---------------Ings (hopefully)-------- 0-2.
captainchris Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Hoedt will be back in on Sat and Obafami dropped, this why Hughes deserves no sympathy for his results. He doesn’t select players on form and performances.
PeteCampbell Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 ----------------Macca------------ --Valery---Yoshi---Vest--Bertrand-- ------------Lemina-Hoj------------- --Gabbi------Armstrong---Redmond-- ---------------Ings (hopefully)-------- 0-2. I agree completely with this lineup.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Can't see us winning this one either, or the next one. Something has to change. Games we are not expected to get anything, we no longer get anything. Games we should be getting something, we still don't get anything. Might as well give the youngsters another shot and leave out the failure specialists. Cedric, Hoedt and Austin for a start.
Pilchards Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 It matters not who you play as the game will go like all the others at St Mary’s. The big question is will we get a goal to celebrate?
DT Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 No-one picks Hoedt except the guy who matters. Heartbreaking, but at least if he does it one more time, he’s gone I reckon. He’s like adding a line of banana skins to our back four Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Batman Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Hoedt will play and lukaku will score. Saints will lose 3-1 Hughes will say we played well but a couple of mistakes cost us and you cant allow mistakes against the top sides. We will all post about hughes needing to be remove from his job but nothing will happen
Fabrice29 Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Don't see us playing 3 at the back unless we expect United to start with a front two.
LGTL Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 This has got 1-0 up, concede 93rd minute to lose 1-2 written all over it.
saints-cris Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Play well, probably take the lead. Lose late on. Lukaku to score. Blame hard luck, claim we're almost where we want to be.

S-Clarke Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Lukaku hasn't scored for a while has he? Good timing. How can you expect anything else other than a standard Utd win. I used to be positive, but this team has just killed me.
Appy Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Hoedt will start, we’ll lose, probably after playing well, we never beat United at home.

I used to be positive, but this team has just killed me. I think everyone has already predicted this game tbh... we will take the lead, Ings to grab a goal around 30th minute. but then the inevitable happens as we reach minute 70, we tire out and Martial scores their equaliser, completely swinging momentum before Lukaku bundles home the winner for them in the 86th minute... we appear to wake up after this and best we muster in a JWP cross that Yoshida doesn't connect his head properly to and it's game over. Hughes standard that we are 'ruing missed opportunities again' and that the 'boys are trying'.
lickierambert Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 It will be 217 days since our last home win on Saturday. Gunning for Sunderland's record of 364
Baird of the land Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Saw Fellaini scored yesterday & imagined him owning Hoedt.
S-Clarke Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 It will be 217 days since our last home win on Saturday. Gunning for Sunderland's record of 364 That can't be right? do you mean home win against a 'Top side' ? We beat Bournemouth at home in April....I'm sure that was a saturday?
benjii Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 That can't be right? do you mean home win against a 'Top side' ? We beat Bournemouth at home in April....I'm sure that was a saturday? So about 7 months ago? Which would be around 217 days.
S-Clarke Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 So about 7 months ago? Which would be around 217 days. Jesus, good point. Where the hell has this year gone.....that game only feels like yesterday!
bpsaint Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Either a 3 or 4 nil loss with United barely breaking a sweat. Hopefully this will be the final straw and Hughes is out the door but can’t say I’m optimistic of that.

Youd like to think hes learnt his lesson on who he picks but clearly he wouldnt have learnt anything...........whats Bednarek done wrong ?....Stephens and Vestergard in the back 4 for me and Bertrand.
benjii Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Jesus, good point. Where the hell has this year gone.....that game only feels like yesterday! Time flies when you're having fun.
Manuel Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Actually think this may be closer than people expect. United haven't been performing well and Mourinho's under pressure. Still expect us to lose, maybe just 1-0.
Pamplemousse Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 We have a horrendous record at St Mary's against Man Utd, so yes we will lose. Hughes final game.
S-Clarke Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 We have a horrendous record at St Mary's against Man Utd, so yes we will lose. Hughes final game. We have an horrendous record at St Mary's against anyone tbh.
SaintAndy14 Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Haven't managed to get to SMS for quite a while now, so looking forward to this one, purely due to being back at a match again. Is the atmosphere likely to be pretty flat, or will the reputation of the opposition raise the noise level a bit? Agree that Hoedt should NOT be starting - even a place on the bench is questionable. Austin should be nowhere near the team, either. The side played pretty well last night, so a similar line-up would be encouraging. Hopefully Ings might return, though?
Raging Bull Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 If we score on Saturday I’m gonna run down to the dugout and dramatically slam a water bottle into the ground in front of the miserable 1
Show me the mané Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Don't see us playing 3 at the back unless we expect United to start with a front two. I think we should stick with 3 regardless. We dont have enough quality at centre back to go with 2 and we look much more solid with 3. Especially given utd’s attacking talent If Hoedt starts I don’t think i’ll bother watching
fanimal Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 If they score early then we know its game over; if we score first and Cedric is playing then we know we will concede; and how many points now is it we have lost from a winning position? I would love to beat Manure to shove JM's cheap shot at us down his almighty gob, but I just cant see where the goals will come from unless we have a couple of freaky own goals! And Obafemi seems to have caught our srtikers disease immediatley poor chap...
Pamplemousse Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 We have an horrendous record at St Mary's against anyone tbh. I'm talking historically
Saint Fan CaM Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Hoedt will play (are they angling to sell him...there’s no other reason I can think of)? And we will lose clearly, but not necessarily because of Hoedt but because we can’t score won’t score. Prediction...0-3. Will Hughes get the push? Nah, this club is going to sleep walk to relegation once again but this time make a success of it.
Killers Knee Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 I suppose it would be safe to bet a considerable sum on Man Utd winning this fixture, safer than investing in the stock market at least.
Lighthouse Posted 28 November, 2018 Author Posted 28 November, 2018 I suppose it would be safe to bet a considerable sum on Man Utd winning this fixture, safer than investing in the stock market at least. If you do that we will take a comfortable 2-0 lead and Man Utd just wont show up. Then after 60 minutes we will miss an absolute sitter to make it 3-0 and within 5 minutes Man Utd will score, probably after the most blatant handball you'll have ever seen at a corner (coupled with some terrible marking). We then completely retreat into our own penalty box and Lukaku nets a tap in in injury time, for a 2-2 which helps neither side as the other 4 of the bottom 5 all win.
Vancouver Saint Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Don't know why but I think we'll win this one. Crazy I know. A lucky 1-0 or 1-2 with a penalty call going our way. Unfortunately will give the board the excuse they need to give Hughes a stay of execution.
sandwichsaint Posted 28 November, 2018 Posted 28 November, 2018 Saw Fellaini scored yesterday & imagined him owning Hoedt. Don't knock it, Poch's first game (0-0 at H v Everton), he played Saints on his own that night, one of the best oppo performances I've seen at SMS . Luckily Everton (Moyes?) hadn't at that time unlocked the level where Fellaini lopes fd and gets an 89th minute winner. Unfortunately for us that level is now well known, I'm sure we have plan.
Doctoroncall Posted 29 November, 2018 Posted 29 November, 2018 Sticking with a draw as United need a win and we will play counterattacking football with Obafemi the speedster supported by Redmond and Moi on the flanks. Keep it tighter at the back with the same back four as Leicester game for consistency. Lem-Hoj-Rom midfield for a 4-3-3 which is the Southampton way and played in all our teams. May even nick this one and put pressure on Mourinho to lose his job. . . . It’s good to be free!
the saint in winchester Posted 29 November, 2018 Posted 29 November, 2018 If we score on Saturday I’m gonna run down to the dugout and dramatically slam a water bottle into the ground in front of the miserable 1 Good one. That made me chuckle.
DT Posted 29 November, 2018 Posted 29 November, 2018 Hoedt's last game before new manager comes in and actually watches him try and defend/lose the ball/moan at everyone/generally be turd
Greenridge Posted 29 November, 2018 Posted 29 November, 2018 Hoedt will score at both ends and PEH or Lemina (I like to leave my options open) will score a 25 yard screamer as we run out 2-1 winners. Word.
egreog Posted 29 November, 2018 Posted 29 November, 2018 0-3 A very average ManU score 3 by midway through the second half and ease off. Hughes claims we were unlucky (again!!!) and deserved something from the game. Its all so predictable.
