Difference between missed and saved, was a very good save by the keeper at Wigan, can't remember the other one.

Three taken, three missed isn't it?

Well he didn't miss tonight, it was saved. It happens; at least he didn't:

a) Miss

b) Hit a knee high powder puff down the middle, like Austin did at Palace.

Scored against Newcastle. Can't remember the Wigan and Man Utd pens.

No. He missed. It didn't go where he wanted it to go.

No, it went where he wanted it to go, unfortunately the keeper guessed right. He didn't miss.

It was a bloody awful penalty for a professional striker to have taken. He missed it.

Ask matt le tissier if he missed or it was saved.

Stupid thread.

Not sure which side you are on but MLT would certainly say it was saved, not missed, is that what you meant?

He's say it was a effing terrible penalty, ergo striker at fault, ergo miss.

It's not like it was some wonder save.

He fluffed it. It was sh it.

the miss from the rebound was just as bad, if not worse

Did it go in? Then it’s a miss
It was on target. The keeper saved it. It was not a miss.

Agree, it wasn't a good pen. But if the keeper guessed the other way, it goes in, and everybody says, he gave him the eyes, it was a cool penalty etc, etc. It was on target, he did not miss it.

We all know a good penalty is one that will 9/10 go in even if the keeper dives the correct side.

Cedric's for example was pretty much unstoppable. Like many of Lambert's

however, who gives a toss really about last night.?

I loved it when Lambert just smashed it high down the middle into the roof of the net. Unstoppable even if you were told beforehand where it was going.

No, we all know that a missed penalty is one that is not on target and therefore the keeper is not required. Anything else that doesn't go in is saved, but no, I'm not particularly assed about the game either way, highly unlikely we would've won the cup anyway.

Didn't say it was a good pen or a great save.

But it was a save never the less.

I actually quite like this debate. I'd be in the camp of he missed the penalty even if its saved.

Goes down the same logic during open play when a striker 'missed a sitter', or 'missed a one on one with the keeper'

What do you mean by NO? I never mentioned anything about a missed penalty

I'm not sure what this love in with Gabbi is from most of our fans. He had a purple patch when he first arrived (like Saganowski by the way) and has been so ineffective since.

That shot against Fulham summed him up, useless. People go on about playing to his strengths, well its not the first time he has missed a blatant sitter.

He is just another one of our totally ineffective strikers.
