Lighthouse Posted 28 October, 2018 Share Posted 28 October, 2018 I wouldn’t say it’s much different to the helicopters which land at Canary Wharf everyday, or driving a vehicle around the stadium on a crowded match day really. Perhaps there should be a rule - no movements between an hour before kick off and half an hour after landing.

Cabbage_Face Posted 28 October, 2018 Share Posted 28 October, 2018 Yes but directly after a game with hundreds of fans around if there's a chance that something like this could occur surely you would delay takeoffs to minimise casualties of somethibg like this did happen. Best move Gatwick, Heathrow, Southampton airport etc then. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dark Munster Posted 28 October, 2018 Share Posted 28 October, 2018 Season ticket-holder Richard Jackson, 53, from Market Bosworth, Leicestershire, travelled to the stadium to join with other fans. "I'm just devastated really, it is such a tragedy you don't expect to happen," he said. "These owners have been absolutely fantastic, probably the best owners in the whole English system." Batman Posted 28 October, 2018 Share Posted 28 October, 2018 Public displaying of grief regarding famous people is strange. It is about to go into 5th gear. A Leicester supporting friend of mine just posted on Facebook that he has been in tears all day and simply can’t go to work tomorrow and how life just feels empty! To only have a friend of his own (a Man United fan about 25 years old by the looks of it) offering his condolences by saying how he knows all too well how it feels........after the Munich air disaster

Saint Benali Posted 28 October, 2018 Share Posted 28 October, 2018 It is a really horrible thing to happen and thoughts go out to Leicester fans and to the families involved. The thing I have taken from this is that he was a really nice person who cared deeply for the club and its supporters. He connected with the fans and understood the emotional aspect they have with the club. Walking around with the fans, talking to them, feeling the same emotions as them. On their forum someone mentioned they once told him thank you for buying the club. He replied it is our club and to cheer them on as loud as they could. For me that is why it is a big loss for them. It isn't that he bought them, that he guided them to a title. It was that he made the effort to be involved with them. Was open and honest with them. Walking around the pitch and talking to people simply because he was genuinely interested in what they had to say. I look at it from a Saints fan point of view. How would I feel if it was our owner it happened to? As harsh as it is I would be sad someone lost their lives, that people were hurt. But the truth is I don't know our owner. They have made no effort to be involved with the fans. They have made no effort to communicate with the fans, never expressed why they were here. They would be just another person who sadly died on that day. To have someone in charge of your club who get's it, is emotionally involved in what happens at the game for 90mins and understands that fans are not walking wallets. They are people who care about the same-thing and it impacts their lives hugely. Owners like that and people like that in this day and age are very few in numbers. Very sad day for them and thoughts go out to all involved.

Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 28 October, 2018 Share Posted 28 October, 2018 Can we not just stop the petty squabbling? This really isn't the time or the place. Srivaddhanaprabha was they type of owner that most fans dream about running their club. A man who delivered the goods and gave the fans what they wanted. That's a very rare thing these days. He should be remembered for what he did for the club and for the local community. Others in similar positions should look at him as an example of how things should be done. This bloke, seems like a genuine decent bloke who not only cared about the football club, but the city as well. To me, from the outside looking in, it seems similar to when Markus passed. The fans had a real sense of connection between the owner and the club, they respected and are greatful for everything he has done. Should the same happen to Gao tomorrow, of course I’d sad that it happened (as I would if it happened to anyone), but I can’t say it’d have the same impact it did than when Markus (or even this fella) passed. SKD Posted 28 October, 2018 Share Posted 28 October, 2018 Such a sad situation. As many have pointed out, a lot of focus on the chairman and understandably so, but let’s not forget 2 dads/brothers/sons went to work and never came home. Feel like Leicester as a football club will be in safe hands with his son, who is already vice-chair, but also very sad for him if reports are true that his whole family were on there. A real shame their ‘fairytale’ ended, or at the very least has this, attached to it. Hope the players and staff (who seemed very close to him) are holding up well. I think that's a pretty strange reaction to someone they probably didn't know personally. I understand why some people would be affected more than others though, they may have lost their own loved ones in a tragic accident for example. LGTL Posted 28 October, 2018 Share Posted 28 October, 2018 https://leics.police.uk/news-appeals/news/2018/10/28/king-power-stadium-incident-five-believed-dead Five people are believed to have died when a helicopter crashed outside the King Power Stadium yesterday evening (Saturday 27 October). The five people were on board the helicopter when the incident happened. While formal identification has not yet taken place, they are believed to be Leicester City Football Club chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, two members of his staff, Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, pilot Eric Swaffer and passenger Izabela Roza Lechowicz. The force has been working to ensure that all the relevant next of kin had been informed prior to this information being confirmed publicly. The aircraft came down in a car park near the stadium shortly after 8.30pm with Leicestershire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service all responding to the incident. No one else is believed to have been injured. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is leading the investigation into the accident and a cordon remains in place at the scene while enquiries continue. Leicestershire Police will be supporting the AAIB in its investigation, liaising closely with Leicester City Football Club as enquiries continue. Superintendent Steve Potter said: “This is an incredibly tragic incident in which five people are understood have lost their lives. “Emergency services were immediately on scene when the crash happened, working to put out the fire and gain access to the helicopter in attempts to reach those inside. Despite those efforts, there were no survivors. “The AAIB is now leading an investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and investigators will remain at the scene to complete their initial enquiries. It is likely to take several days to fully complete the necessary work and to safely deal with the scene of this tragic accident, during that time we ask that both the media and public resist speculating around the cause of the crash. “We appreciate that both the public and media were keen to be updated on the circumstances and to confirm if those on board the helicopter had survived, but before any detail could be issued publicly, it was vital that all immediate next of kin were informed of the tragic outcome. As our communities will understand, this was a matter that needed to be handled sensitively and with dignity, with the families of the deceased being at the heart of our response, which involved other agencies. “Our thoughts today are with the families of those who have sadly died, with Leicester City Football Club, and with both football supporters and the wider local community who have all been impacted by the events of last night and the news that those on board the aircraft have not survived.” The AAIB and Leicestershire Police are asking that anyone who witnessed the crash to call 101 quoting incident number 546 of 28 October 2018.
