Batman Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 its either hoooof or plod it wide for a poor cross in for (mostly) their CBs to clear god awful
saintsmike25 Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Thoughts so far - we're a better side, but lacking thrust after our bright spell in the first 15. Austin - again useless, doesn't look like scoring or doing anything, looks like a non-league player and clearly a mile off the pace. Redmond and El are looking like they may create but both just not direct enough, El likes to pass back he actually has some pace and strength and looks better when he cuts inside and goes direct, should have set-up Ings though. Romeu - decent along with Lemina. Cedric/Bertrand both need to be putting the ball in earlier. If we take off Austin, put on Armstrong or Gabbi - i think we'll win. But Ings and Austin doesn't work, Ings is looking for movement and Austin isn't offering it, while Austin is only really focused on himself and not a team player.
CanadaSaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 I just don't understand why Hughes ditched the Redmond/Bertrand partnership down the left. It was the only reliably creative area we had.
qwertyell Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 The good news is that Newcastle are garbage. The bad news is that we're barely much better. Another low quality, shapeless, ugly slog that gives credence to David Moyes' quote the other week that the Premier League is generally of a much lower standard these days. This is going to be 1-0. Neil Ruddock with a last minute penalty awarded for who knows what... Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
austsaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Poor quality half. Austin needs to be replaced. Lemina, Redmond doing ok, Elynoussi better, Ings trying hard.
doddisalegend Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 I think we looked pretty good considering. I'd take of Mo, since he is terrible today, and maybe bring on Armstrong. Mo is no where near the worst player on the pitch Romeu, Austin and Bertrand are total crap today.
doddisalegend Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Well Hughes said when he took over we needed to be more direct I didn't realise he meant aimless hoofing up field...
NewYorkSaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Bright side: several thrilling, fast moves out of defense. Ping, ping, genius ping. We just need some of that in their penalty area.
OttawaSaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Man I miss those days where you knew it was just a matter of time before a move paid off and we’d score. You could just relax and enjoy the game. I have zero faith we’ll score today. I think our best chance has come and gone. 0-0 is the best we can hope for. Really sad.
sandwichsaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 The lack of interest is almost total, ten or a dozen people on the match thread on a Saturday afternoon. (and a few of them are the same person:o). I've been listening at home on TalkSport while doing the ironing:lol:. Sounds grim, no confidence, no leaders, no goals. Comes to a pretty pass when mowing the lawn or doing the ironing trumps watching a stream. We'll win 1-0, which will paper over the cracks for a few more weeks.
kjurwi Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Mo is no where near the worst player on the pitch Romeu, Austin and Bertrand are total crap today. Bertrand has been ok when he has had Redmond in front of him.
Plastic Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Just got in, looks like I haven’t missed much.
Sheaf Saint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Austin hasn't been subbed at HT. To me that just shows how inept Hughes is. How can he not see that he has contributed absolutely nothing up front?
philelec Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Just got in, looks like I haven’t missed much. Dead opposite to the Saints, they have missed everything!
OttawaSaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Brighton winning. Glenn Murray. Oh to have a guy like that.
Leo_ARG Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Man I miss those days where you knew it was just a matter of time before a move paid off and we’d score. You could just relax and enjoy the game. I have zero faith we’ll score today. I think our best chance has come and gone. 0-0 is the best we can hope for. Really sad. We used to be a team that created many chances but scored few. Now we just don't score. A combination of lack of creativity, talent and lack of confidence has a thinking that scoring a goal would be nothing short of a miracle. I miss Tadic so much. I haven't seen a single through ball since he left.
Edmonton Saint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Ings through on goal and Austin tackled him....
Saint Albert Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Austin pretty much tackles Ings in the Newcastle penalty area.
OttawaSaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Austin got in Ings way. What is the point in picking that guy over Gabbi? He’s utterly unfit and hopeless.
St Chalet Posted 27 October, 2018 Author Posted 27 October, 2018 Austin tackles Ings as he is about to take a shot, sums us up.
Ohio Saint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 I miss the days when we only scored a few goals.
Sheaf Saint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Great one Austin. Blocks his own team-mate from scoring.
OttawaSaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Lemina on ball. 5 Saints around him, all walking, no one offering him an outlet. Lazy hoofball team.

Saint Albert Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Austin bangs it into the net but referee rules he fouled the keeper.
BotleySaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Newcastle awful. Their players going through the motions. Body language awful. Almost disinterested.. let's hope they stay that way. We huff and puff but not good enough to make a dent.
Mr X Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Elyounoussi another complete waste of money to add to our list!
OttawaSaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Newcastle awful. Their players going through the motions. Body language awful. Almost disinterested.. let's hope they stay that way. We huff and puff but not good enough to make a dent. They’ll somehow nick one and it’ll give them the shot in the arm they need. We’ll just limp on.
SaintZamboni Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Some, slightly better play emerging. At least Elyo has shown up today. He’s been poor and nothing’s gone for him but at least he’s tried!
OttawaSaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Elyounoussi another complete waste of money to add to our list! Four times I’ve counted we’ve had a decent chance break and he’s underhit a pass ruining the break.
Saint Albert Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Saints have had some good attacking moves so far this half. Starting to stretch the Newcastle defenders a little.
adrian lord Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Grotesquely bloated squad of hasbeens, journeymen and crocks. Just like the last time we plummeted down the leagues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Batman Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 ings is up front on his own. Austin is somehow, still on the pitch doing nothing
Ohio Saint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Looking forward to when a 'tater says we are in the ascendancy.
OttawaSaint Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Austin down, just dig a hole. Get Gabbi on!
Saint Albert Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Austin has a bit of shoulder damage...physios seem to think he can continue.
Jonnyboy Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Give Armstrong a try. The standard today is worse than Scottish football - he'll shine.
Saint Albert Posted 27 October, 2018 Posted 27 October, 2018 Austin coming off for Gabbiadini shortly.
