Bad Wolf Posted 21 October, 2018 Posted 21 October, 2018 In New Jersey right now after a week in NYC. I've spoken to several soccerball fans and just thought I'd report back the conversation I had with my friends' father last night in. Basically, I told him we once had a player who didn't exactly set the world alight but scored a few off the bench. Then I said "I think he came out here and did reasonably well" so I went on to say BWP and gasped and exclaimed "THE BRADLEY WRIGHT PHILIPS?!?!" then spent ten solid minutes raving about how he's one of the best players he's ever seen and was in shock when I told him I don't think he's ever had an England call up. He isn't the only one either. They all absolutely love him here. I couldn't believe we were talking about the same player. I knew he'd done okay in the MLS but didn't realise he was quite as idealised as he is. Thought it was worth reporting.
RedArmy Posted 21 October, 2018 Posted 21 October, 2018 Thought it was worth reporting. You thought wrong.
niceandfriendly Posted 21 October, 2018 Posted 21 October, 2018 Tell us more about your US trip. Hotel, beer, ladies etc. You've barely got started, we don't only want to hear about Bradley Wright Wright Wright.
percy windham Posted 21 October, 2018 Posted 21 October, 2018 Tell me more about your friend’s father; he sounds dreamy.
Ultimatt Posted 21 October, 2018 Posted 21 October, 2018 105 goals in 168 MLS games. Shyte league but can see why he's revered.
californiasaint Posted 22 October, 2018 Posted 22 October, 2018 The joke here is that the more someone is a fan of the MLS the less they actually know about football (or even that it's called anything other than soccer!)
Pamplemousse Posted 22 October, 2018 Posted 22 October, 2018 The standard of MLS is terrible. The attacking quality I would argue at the moment is Championship standard, the defending League 2.
Secret Site Agent Posted 22 October, 2018 Posted 22 October, 2018 I bet he's on a bigger wedge than he ever had in this country though
SuperSAINT Posted 22 October, 2018 Posted 22 October, 2018 He always had good physical attributes. Maybe he's just discovered how to stay onside in America?
Cabbage_Face Posted 22 October, 2018 Posted 22 October, 2018 Basically playing giant Subbuteo. I could score 10 a season in that league, and i have no legs.
magnet Posted 22 October, 2018 Posted 22 October, 2018 Rooney 10 goals in 19 games, enough said! 19 sorry.
St Louis Posted 22 October, 2018 Posted 22 October, 2018 He always had good physical attributes. Maybe he's just discovered how to stay onside in America? About £30,000 a week.... https://mlsplayers.org/resources/salary-guide

Miltonaggro Posted 22 October, 2018 Posted 22 October, 2018 Does he still rob from the skates? Favours cybercrime these days I've heard.

Secret Site Agent Posted 23 October, 2018 Posted 23 October, 2018 The MLS is like the Last of the Summer Wine of football You look through the list and see all the greats you knew years ago, and itr answers the question of 'Didn't he used to play for.' A nice bit of nostagia. They go here after West Ham have turned them down for being too old. I note that BWP is on juuuuuusssttt a little more than Ibrahinovich. Perhaps there are a few that could do a ...........sorry, can't say it with a straight face.
