VectisSaint Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Really don't understand how Hoedt continues to be picked with Yoshida on the bench. Good to see Stephens back but should have been alongside Yoshida. Can understand Vestegaard being dropped, too slow against Boscombe front players.
Pamplemousse Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 For that team selection alone I’ve changed my mind on Hughes. OUT now.
Dangermouth Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 For that team selection alone I’ve changed my mind on Hughes. OUT now. Agree.
Saint Benali Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Just thought i would log in for a bit of pre match morale boosting.... what a waste of time. But i guess those who think its all doom gloom and already a defeat wont be watching so the match thread should be reasonable... Just thought I would log in for a bit of pre match Always SFC supporter bashing..... as predicted there he is, bashing the fans again. Anyone would think he was a skate. Never talks about football just here to bash Saints fans.
Batman Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 They will murder us Stephens and Hoedt Our new CB remains on the bench Jesus Christ!!!!
Shroppie Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Agreed. And any of Gabbiadini, Armstrong, Long, Romeu, Ward-Prowse should be in instead of Austin.Really don't understand how Hoedt continues to be picked with Yoshida on the bench. Good to see Stephens back but should have been alongside Yoshida. Can understand Vestegaard being dropped, too slow against Boscombe front players. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Good to see Stephens back but should have been alongside Yoshida. Can understand Vestegaard being dropped, too slow against Boscombe front players. It's just bonkers isn't it. Yoshida, despite his faults, is our most reliable CB by a long stretch. He did OK against Chelsea, given the strength of the opposition, and now gets dropped to the bench again with Hoedt still, inexplicably, managing to be the first name on the team sheet. And Gabbiaidini showed more threat in the time he was on the pitch against Chelsea than Austin has done all season, so naturally he gets dropped as well. I was so willing to give Hughes the benefit of the doubt, but he clearly doesn't have a clue what he is doing.
Sheaf Saint Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 For that team selection alone I’ve changed my mind on Hughes. OUT now. Yep, this. Absolutely this.
Shroppie Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 But maybe this is the surprise combination that will click. Always hope. Always support. COYY!!!! Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
hypochondriac Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Can't be much worse than our previous lineups. Could surprise us. I'm going for a draw.

St.JonB Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Oh dear. Can’t understand that team or formation at all. Beginning to worry about Hughes now. Really hope he has some aces up his sleeve. COYS!
beatlesaint Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Stephens and Hoedt plus what looks like 4-4-2 The Bournemouth atrack must be sat in their dressing room salivating at the thought of being let loose on this lot !
SKD Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Shocking CB pairing, simply shocking. Will be a 4231 with ings dropping into the 10 I’d have thought. Austin tends to do well against Bompey so can understand he inclusion, but Stephens!?!? Assuming Vest been left out due to the pace of their front 2? And Hodet seems to be first name on the team sheet, can only assume he’s sucking Hughes off during the week? Better hope Bournemouth have an off day.
beatlesaint Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 The thing I don’t get about Stephens is he’s bareky been on the bench in the league yet all of a sudden he’s in the team ! WTF ?
Shroppie Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Suspect there's an underlying reason Maya's not being picked and wonder if Bednarek has said something out of line. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Crab Lungs Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 That is an absolutely fukkking hilarious team to put out I’m so p1ssed off with it all I’m now actually seeing the humourous side of things.
benjii Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Hoedt and Stephens are the only center backs that trained with the first team over the last 2 weeks... There's a reason for that!
stevy777_x Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 There's a reason for that! I know! But its probably why Hughes chose them because he s worked with them. That and the fact that Yoshida got back wed night and is probably jetlagged and he doesn t want to play vestegaard because of pace of front 2 of bompey
Saint IQ Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Is Hughes just angling for a big pay off as he knows he's not up to the job anymore?
benjii Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Is Hughes just angling for a big pay off as he knows he's not up to the job anymore? Looks like it. Probably knows it's a rudderless ship with our clueless board and owners.
Saint Albert Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 New Forest Derby? Alrighty then. https://mobile.twitter.com/afcbournemouth/status/1053631935346544642?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
stknowle Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Stephens/Hoedt????? [emoji44][emoji44][emoji44] Austin? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Of all the combinations we could use at CB that would be at the last one I would wish to see. Oh well, let's just hope it all works out.
davefizzy14 Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Why Gabbi has been dropped is beyond me. Yoshi should be at the back with Jack. They have a great understanding. Just got to hope we can get something today! COYR
Saints foreva Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 For that team selection alone I’ve changed my mind on Hughes. OUT now. He is an awful manager but Hughes being sacked is pointless when you consider the people who will appoint his replacement.
doddisalegend Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Solent doing a pick your best combined 11 Bournemouth saints team. Willow goes with nine Bournemouth players...probably not far off.
larry12 Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 For that team selection alone I’ve changed my mind on Hughes. OUT now. Tosser! No not you, Hughes! Is he trying to get sacked and collect his £6m? the usual goodbye handshake that the last two ex Saints managers know so well. Why hang on to this shiiite job, when you can collect your 3 yrs after the first one? Nice work if you can get it. Well done Les Reed!
Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Is Hughes just angling for a big pay off as he knows he's not up to the job anymore? The technical term is 'Destroy and Exit"

OttawaSaint Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Washing machines must be doing overtime with all this bed wetting. Hopefully the players have more gumption than you lot. Batman, you’re an embarrassment.
austsaint Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Why Gabbi has been dropped is beyond me. Yoshi should be at the back with Jack. They have a great understanding. Just got to hope we can get something today! COYR Yep, thought Gabbiadini played well before the break and is now benched in favour of Austin who has been awful. Romeu also played well when brought on at half time and a midfield of Hoj, Lemina and Romeu has led to our best performances - Romeu not even on the bench. Lack of attacking press today from Ings, Austin, Moi and Redmond might put a lot of pressure on Lemina and Hoj.

Danbert Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Can't argue with that team really. None of our center backs are great shakes, but personally I'd have kept Vestergaard in, as Stephens doesn't convince me at all. After calamity Yoshi's last performance I find it strange that people think he's the answer, loyal servant though he is.
Saint Albert Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Stephens feels like he’s come into the team from nowhere...considering Bournemouth’s lineup perhaps his mobility and ability to defend against speedy attackers with the ball at their feet is the reason?

Mr X Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Solent reported that "All" the fans were united behind Hughes!
wessex saint Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 I'm so grateful for the optimism of our "fans" on here. Sometimes it's the only thing that keeps me going. [emoji6] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Just because I’m realistic about our squad and manager it doesn’t mean I’m less of a ‘fan’. I won’t bore you with tales of decades of season tickets and sing my heart out at every game no matter what. Except I just did [emoji106] I so hope I’m proved wrong today but having only seen 1 win in about a year at home, it’s not surprising that some ‘fans’ are not particularly optimistic come kick off. St Marco Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Apparently Hughes said the training went really well, we showed some serious class. We beat the cones 3-2 with a last minute goal mouth scramble to score. (seriously though it really winds me up when Hughes talks about how quality we have been in training).
wessex saint Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 Now that is a bloomin random starting XI!, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
striker Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 The team looks fine, and I think Hughes is just putting together a team that attacks the Cherries well situationally. Plus we don't know who came back from International break when, and if they were a little banged up. Time to get this season into gear. Lets get a win here!
Cabbage_Face Posted 20 October, 2018 Posted 20 October, 2018 So reading team-sheet, McCarthy Cedric Stephens Hoedt Stopped reading, bet 10 quid we will concede 4 or more goals, off down pub.
