If this happens i think someone may actually harm someone on the board...

Out of contract in July, I would have thought it would be an attractive move for him now to the richest club in the land.

Posted

he would not be worth much

1) keeper

2) his age

3) out of contract in summer.

Would only get that sort of money, so better off refusing it and letting him go for free in the summer. We need him now

no, no, no, no, no. It's got to be a wind-up. Although after yesterday I honestly wouldn't blame any of them for jumping ship. It's not really a matter of loyalty - they've only got so long in their careers, and who wants to spend any more time than necessary in a job where the people in charge have lost all grip on reality?

No,we need him to stay so should be offering new contract and fund it by selling

If someone comes in for him I would expect him to look to the club to confirm they will be extending or offering him a new contract.

Loyalty can only go so far and needs a loyal response from the board.

I doubt he will get the reassuring he needs and will be off. His stock is reasonable high at the moment and he will be able to command a decent contract elsewhere. Stay until the end of the season with a club likely to be relegated and a chance of a dip in personal form without a good prospect of a new or extended contract and he would be daft to stay loyal.

The club should act now and offer him at least a 1 year extention whilst finances are sorted. But I am not holding my breath!!

Is he going to Man City?

Mittel family about £57B, Ecclestone £2B, Briatore I'm not sure seen it quoted about a billion.

The Man City owner about £15B but he is splashing his.

Mittal is worth nowhere near £57B, more like £13B, Bernie is correct although likely to be halved when he gets divorced and Flav is worth about £200m.

Man City are richer and QPR have hardly spent anything because Mittal is a minority owner although there are rumours of him buying out Flav and then spending money.

There is more than one Mittel in the family, the one who's son is on the board I believe is pre crunch worth about £19B, the total family wealth was I believe about £57B. In any event it's not a billionaires peeing contest it's about KD and move to a rich club.

Hes the only one whos invested, its his son in law on the board. The club has the 2nd richest owners in the world but we arent the 2nd richest team in the world. Something the papers always forget.

Still pretty rich, wouldn't you say?

Never read the People so have no clue if they are credible or not, guessing from what some of you are saying then they are not. However of all the people in our team Davis is the only player i feel would make us worse by losing. Surman and Lallana have potential but in all honesty they have looked worse then average this year. The fact nobody has come in for them yet to me says they are probably considered overrated by the other clubs. I can't see Kelvin leaving however as mentioned his contract is up at end of the year, that means he can talk to clubs now about a potential bosman transfer. If he knows the club will not retain him in the summer due to his wages then i could see him going now to try and get some cash for us. But the reality is if we lose him the cash would be pointless as we would be relegated for sure (if we are not already) so as generous as that would be it would actually seal our fate i think.

If we are honest it would be a major blow to lose Kelvin now.

That said, if he chose to walk he could do so at least knowing that he had tried and gave it his best shot. There would be no disgrace in his departing now - he has nothing to regret.

Others though, perhaps should take a long hard look at themselves.

This would be the very final nail in the coffin of SFC. KD has said time and again he doesn't want to go as ot would mean uprooting his family again, but QPR is only an hour up the road, easily commutable. And if, as I suspect, he has been told his contract won't be renewed Lo*e will take whatever he can get for him.

Would be a massive blow to lose Kelvin. Having said that, his contract is up in the summer and I wouldn't be surprised if the board considered any offer very seriously. If we were to lose Davis then that would be it for us this season IMO. He's been our best player by a country mile and losing him would be hard to take.

Posted

KD has been the one bright spot for us this season & has stood between us & total humiliation many a time. I know he will walk for nothing at the end of the season but if we are to have any faint hope of staying up we must do everything to keep him until then.

Posted

A part of the problem SFC is labouring under is that we've quite a few key players (Skacel BWP Euell Svensson Davis etc....) who are running down the last few months of their contracts here and have little or no chance of a new deal - this is unsettling and hardly encourages the less than totaly professional type of player to go out and sweat blood for the cause - although that's not an accusation I would ever level at Kelvin Davis I'd like to make clear .

In a ideal world players should be offered a contract extension 12 months or so before said contracts expire or transferred out of the club if possible - the fact we have so many players in this unsatisfactory 'Limbo' situation this season (and last for that matter) is yet another example of the criminally inadequate management the club has suffered from in recent years .

Kelvin Davis has done more than enough to earn a new contract with SFC in my opinion - but considering the calibre of the men running the club I harbour little real hope that he will actually be offered one . :(

This is the second club to have supposed to show an interest in him , I was told he turned the last offer of a loan down but was berrated about it when i posted it .. would be a disaster if he now feels the cause is not worth it

All the senior players are being VERY badly treated by Lowe IMHO. His tactics of sidelining them and making them unwelcome here just to get rid of them is frankly disgusting.

Problem is, even if high wage owners of limited ability like Euell do leave, the impact it has on recruiting badly needed experienced players into the club in the near future is really worrying.

Lowe does not think anything through.

Our reputation as an employer of players is apalling. No wonder, John, Wotton, Skacel and Euell have openly stated their frustration.

Yes - but how are you going to tempt a decent experienced player who may be being offered the same deal as Saints elsewhere if your senior players are recommending not to touch the club with a barge pole because of the way we treat our senior players?

How do you know ?

Seems a bit far fetched

Skacel John Euell are overpaid

Wotton is not very good

If we did lose Kelvin now we would have to get an experienced keeper on loan or short term deal as Forecast is unknown at this level and Bilaowski (I know thats not the correct spelling) our polish keeper is awful. The fact that Kelvin has kept us in games and won games for us means we must keep him for the remainder of the season at least.

If Bilaowski is no good what about that other Polish goalkeeper we had 2 seasons ago that most people seemed to rate above Kelvin Davis?

If Kelvin goes we might as well all go to a Portsmouth "gentlemen's" bar, strip off naked and bend over the table. :smt087

Not again.

Well, considering that Portaloo thought taking off a central defender when we were 1-0 down was a brilliant strategic move, it is only logical to conclude that he will be very comfortable without a goalkeeper.

I am absolutely amazed that Poortaloo is still in the UK, I thought he'd have Effed off back to Holland after the excruciating embarrassment of Saturday's inept fiasco. Obviously the bloke is bereft of pride, moral fibre or ideas on how to succeed in English football.

He is in Holland today as far as im aware. I spoke to a friend yesterday and he said it was paper talk as far as he was aware and he probably would know or have a sniff if it was true

if we are desperate we would get what we can, not put people off by asking for more money. plus he is out of contract in the summer and could go for free if he wanted

Well, if I'm 1-0 down on LMA manager, I usually revert to 3-4-3 from 4-4-2 and take off a Central Defender. Works for me a lot of the time.

Agree with that MOM!

If that were the case, then why did the club print the big " I love Saints till the death " item on todays OS.?

NO !.. that's just a space filler because they're short of adverts on that page.

I wouldn't believe the People -if they told me they printed on a Sunday !

Kelvin, more than anyone else is the main hope we have of survival. And his heart is with Saints.

We ALL need to be at St Mary's getting behind him AND the whole team ffs.

Demos yes. But NOT DURING MATCHES!

That would be so counter-productive and it would let Rupert off the hook. He has already started a PR campaign blaming the fans for our troubles.

So Back Kelvin.

Back the whole team, including the manager DURING matches.

And don't do the oppositions job for them.
