Mosin Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 (edited) Yoshida and Gabbiadini would be of interest to a number of foreign clubs. JWP is **** mate. He may be **** at dribbling and running, but his end product is a trillion miles better than Redmonds. 43 apps 0 assists and goals and counting for Mr un droppable Redmond, Moi 7 apps 0 assists 0 goals 630 mins played 0 clear cut chances 0 for both of them this season. JWP 5 clear cut chances ( 2nd most on the team ) 98 mins played this season. lets include last season too 1623mins 37 clear cut chances made 9 assists 3 goals in the league ( 2 goals in cups plus 5 more assists 7 apps ) ...…. Can clearly see who is **** mate. and sorry to say, but it is no JWP, its Redmond. But its ok, cause Redmond can run and dribble and do nothing else even worth mentioning but yelling at his team mates LOL. No one even enquired about Yoshi and Gabbie btw. Mosin Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 Amazing how we stuck with Redmond all last season and seem like we are sticking with him this season, Yet he is the only out field player to not assist a goal or score one or even create a clear cut chance for any one else to score from. But JWP is **** and the only thing he trails Redmond by is dribbling and running speed... yet the ball can cover more ground faster than any one can run. amazing. I like JWP ( not quite your love) but he just doesn't seem to hold his place in the team when he got a chance. You must admit that his pace is a major problem, also he is not dventurous in his passing. I dearly want him to do well, but until he starts to play incisive passes he will always be a bench player
Vancouver Saint Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 It was right to give Hughes a chance after he kept us up. I never thought he was the right long-term solution (not trying to be a smart-arse) - I said to myself give him 10 games and we'll know what we've got. Well we know after 7. This guy is clueless. I didn't get to see the game but the result was entirely predictable. Hughes was a striker and he knows nothing about putting a defence together. Our defence is a shambles. How can he put Hoedt ahead of Yoshida? Bertrand has lost all his confidence and bite after losing his England place. You build a team from the back. Time for a re-think and a re-build. I dearly want him to do well, but until he starts to play incisive passes he will always be a bench player Listen to saints fc podcast after the Everton game and see how much they talk abut JWP and how good he was that day and how he was the most dangerous player on the pitch and how they felt he should be playing net game. then check what pundits and stuff say, then check the stats, then watch the chances he makes, then watch Redmond. JWP is a far more dangerous player. Rather JWP sweinging in a cross than Redmond, Rather JWP swinging in a corner than Redmond, Rather JWP take a penalty than pretty much the full team, Rather JWP be putting in that free kicks. last season we stuck with Redmond and JWP played most games from the bench / was always first to be subbed, yet finished with a higher seasons average rating than Redmond, Finished better pass ac than Redmond, better crossing stats, Better threw balls, better clear cut chances (these are chances that should have been put in the back of the net BTW ) more interceptions, more key passes ( These are passes that allow others to assist a goal, eg playing a long diagonal ball to Bertrand on the left wing who controls the ball brings it down and whips in a cross which either get scored of or missed ) Literally the only thing Redmond is better than JWP at is dribbling and he is not even that great at that seeing as he has one of the lowest dribble success rate in the league and one of the highest disposed number of every one in the league. Baird of the land Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 Well I was wrong. I predicted they would boss it 1st half but they didn't. However, the result was predicted... the only silver lining is a few quid in my pocket. I stand by what I said pre match. I would be quite happy to go down - we could then have a proper clear out which includes Reed, and maybe find a young, thirsty, energetic, forward thinking manager who believes in attacking and scoring. And yes, we had 6 shots on target but not a single one genuinely troubled their keeper. The current set up is sterile, tired and out of ideas. Over the 39 years I've been watching games I've never felt so disullusioned with the club. And I' debated whether to renew my ST in the summer and I did - I'm regretting that right now because I know I've got a 2hr drive every home game to watch that shower of shiiite for the rest of the season. Yeah i’m Definitely at the stage where relegation seems ok unless the next manager is a marked improvement over the current rotten incumbent. Clear out like Swansea sounds good. Lallana's Left Peg Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 I don't think it matters who we stick out there at the moment. 4 wins in 32 league games (or something like that), the entire squad lacks leadership and confidence. When the going gets tough, this lot crumble very quickly. It's two years of negativity and backwards momentum that is hard to stop. hasper57saint Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 Before I start I'd like to say that Wolves are not a very good team. They beat us today because Hughes again made the wrong substitutions.Armstrong did nothing when he came on except give the ball away twice which led to both of their goals. We have a 6' 6" defender who is part of the zonal marking fiasco. We have strikers who cant strike and defenders who can't defend.Above all else we have a manager who doesn't manage. For 78 minutes of that game this afternoon I honestly thought a 1 -1 draw would justify the c rap we were watching then Armstrong arrives and its Goodnight Nurse. On this non performance next Saturday will see us exposed as a very mediocre lower PL quarter team. Hughes has to take responsibility for this mess or leave.

ozzyman Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 Just got back from the game, tired and deflated and can't be bothered to read the previous posts but my take on the game and Saints in general. First the positives , won't take long Lemina and Hojberg played their socks off and did all they could to hold it together. Cedric had a decent game and no blame on McCarthy. Ings kept plugging away and kept coming deep to try and get the ball as no service from the wings. The rest ...... Defence a shambles, can there be a worse central defensive pairing than Hoedt and Vestergaard - apparently the tallest pairing in the Prem league but neither can head the ball , shocking in defence and no threat at all from set pieces. Both are so slow it is embarrassing, ponderous on the ball and always likely to misplace a pass. Bertie is a shadow of himself former self and really doesn't seem to care, no great credentials for a captain. Enough said, but cannot ever see a clean sheet if we stick with them. Our wingers (?) did nothing, created nothing, threatened nothing. People constantly criticised Boufal last season but I would have him back in a shot in place of Redmond and Ely., why on earth did we let Sims go out on loan, at least he was positive and had a go. Austin, my fridge is more mobile and can probably control the ball better. Pairing him with Ings was a great mistake....what has Gallagher got to do to even to make the bench. Hughes...doesn't inspire at all, took an age to change what was clearly not working , when he did we went from bad to diabolically bad. Cannot see how we can improve as there is really nobody in the wings that I can see making much of a difference. All that time and money we had over the preseason was wasted. The quality of the players we spent good money on was very poor. We lack pace, skill, creativity, steel and passion.....apart from that we are pretty poor , and sooooooooo boring to watch. Enough ...I need a drink

When the best result we managed against one of the bigger teams was desperately hanging on for two 0-0s against Liverpool? When I had the day off for the Stoke game but was just so bored with the football I couldn't be bothered to go? When we went out of an easy Europa League group playing for a 0-0 because we were too scared to try and beat Hapoel Be'er Sheva? Yes, then. There's an equally extreme positive spin to your negative spin. You genuinely disliked that season more than last years?
Lighthouse Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 There's an equally extreme positive spin to your negative spin. You genuinely disliked that season more than last years? I never said I disliked it more but it wasn't much better. Results were mediocre at best and the football largely poor. I certainly don't remember seeing anything I would describe as miraculous, which is the original point I was responding to.

Although looking at the goal Long scored against Liverpool it looks pretty miraculous compared to how we've played the last 15 months.
Katalinic Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 I don't think Hughes is entirely to blame. After the near miss last season we needed revolution not evolution - at least 10 of the players in the current squad should have been shipped out with a new spine and pace brought in. Sadly Les, Ralph and Ross have been found wanting in all areas. The finger of blame should pointing at them.
austsaint Posted 29 September, 2018 Share Posted 29 September, 2018 Ploddy was not even on the bench. Good times. Also Davis not used. Hughes has two pointless pieces of rubbish that he can't even use. Thanks to amateur Reed he hasn't got Sims or a,n. other to choose from. Wolves did have a bench. Thanks Les Reed. Wolves did have a strong bench and later in the game had 4-5 quality attacking players on the park; we seemed to lack any! It's the lack of quality in our side which is becoming most alarming. When Redmond appears to be your most dangerous player (and he hasn't had a bad season so far) you just know the Club has been stripped bare of talent.
