OldNick Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 Be as pedantic as you like, he did say that an empty stadium would bring the whole thing to a head and was the only way. That means as a listener who was at the match that he was supporting a boycott, that together with his obvious frustration and anger at the club. If he wasn't calling for a boycott, why say it was the only way to solve the problem.I believe he was encouraging people to boycott.I would temper that as he was still seething about being asked to leave.I still would like to know why he was asked to do so.I have been in corporate in the past and he was always around about. He has peed me off with some of the things he has said on the radio, especially saying the refs got it right when IMO he patently was wrong, that said it was hardly reason to ban him
derry Posted 19 January, 2009 Author Share Posted 19 January, 2009 Read the two posts above by Alain Perrin and eurosaint as that is how I heard it and not Derry's version which was slightly twisted. Chinese whispers me thinks. Saint Clark didn't support you at all, in response to your question, "When or where is he said to have said this?" He immediately replied in the next post "On Radio Hampshire after the game, I heard him say it as well." I think we got the message right.

As I said "bring 3s 4d we're going to a dance" Does it really matter ? It still spelt out the same meaning to what was said.
graymalkin33 Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 As ever, making a futile gesture and not having one single, meaningful idea as to how to CHANGE the currently broken club. And if anyone says 'Lowe going will make things better' - absolute, 100% crap! Didn't happen last time did it? By all means, put forward a real, bona fide proper plan for taking the club forward - but to just call for the Boards head is pure, absolute madness. And please don't say Croouch and McMenemy are the answer. They, like Lowe and co, are part of the problem not the solution. I agree. getting rid of JP and or RL is not the solution. Im not a Lowe Luvvie - i believe we will be better of without him BUT there needs to be a replacement that is credible and will not send this club further and further into the mire. Its so easy to say lowe out. GIVE AN ALTERNATIVE. At the moment I dont have one................. I certainly ont have an alternative to JP, if we change managers YET AGAIN we will just set ourselves even further back - remember ANY new manager will still have the same set of players to use - remember WE ARE SKINT! Grass isnt always greener. Yes i also agree with David Armstrong.
saintjinksie Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 I would be willing to participate in a boycott, shame the club already have my money really. would be a strong sign to the board if the whole ground just emptied at say, 60 mins into a game. would get a lot of publicity as well, cant think of many teams who have staged a complete walkout. Jeff Le Taxi Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 I am absolutely FUMING at the treatment of David Armstrong and Lawrie McMenemy who ARE Southampton Football Club, Lowe wouldnt know loyalty if he fell over it!
saintwarwick Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 Does it really matter ? It still spelt out the same meaning to what was said. It must do for you to reply. As for it being spelt out as the same meaning, since when has 'what was implied as being said but not what was actually said' meant the same Dave Armstrong when on the radio always stays away from the politics of the club and concentrates on the football. Fair play to him I say, top bloke.
grasscutter Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 No point boycotting the game in the ground ! They have your money .

Grass isnt always greener. Yes i also agree with David Armstrong. An alternative?? Here is a shock suggestion...advertise and interview! How do we pay for it? get rid of Wotte and Gorre and put Henderson and Hockaday as backup and support. We are getting 14-15k gates in with this clown ...so with a decent recruited manager not a cheap option like Gray Dodd/Gorman more revenue will come. Win games and the crowd will come no other way. Funny on here that Big Sam, Davies, Warnock and Coleman are slagged yet all have immediate results and impact on clubs in trouble.
