Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Given K,billy has said Long won't be fit for Brighton and the debate on another thread about whether Gabbi will ever cut the mustard, here's a simple opportunity to say who you'd like up top with Danny Ings on Monday evening. Simple one word answers will suffice (in the absence of me knowing how to make a poll); reasons why you've picked who you've picked are ok, too. Options: Austin; Gabbiaidini; Gallagher; Armstrong (as a deeper no. 10). Austin for me, as he has a knack for scoring against Brighton and must know Ings' game from their Burnley days. Over to you...
Lighthouse Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Gabbi. He's nothing amazing but the next best striker we have after Ings. Give the pair of them a run of games together, with some decent service and see where that leads us. Austin is slow, unfit and we've had some very poor performances with him on the pitch, due to his lack of movement and putting no pressure on defences.
Pamplemousse Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Who should play - Gabbiadini Who will play - Austin
doddisalegend Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Gallagher looks the most like for like replacement for Long if we want to carry on playing the same way.
egg Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Redmond is the only other player we have who can stretch the opponent's defence in the way Long does. Austin will play though.
SuperSAINT Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Gabbiadini and Ings looked good together earlier in the season but i think it's time we gave Gallagher a go. Yeah, why not. Austin should be impact sub.
St Louis Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 I think Danny Ings might have to miss the Brighton game..... through exhaustion! https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/7210786/danny-ings-ruby-blake-model/
Dusic Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Possibly Armstrong as a 10 and Ings up top?

Edmonton Saint Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Gallagher should be given a chance.
whelk Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Gallagher should be given a chance. And sims and hesketh. Fck it play all the u23s clearly good enough.
Saint Pete Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 I would go with Gabbiadini as if we can get the best out of him it would be a massive boost to us. In theory at least you would think Ings and Gabbi could be a good combo. Austin and Gallagher both decent options off the bench. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Dellman Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Not Austin he is a tired old man with zero mobility who should not be keeping out a young man with high mobility, give Sam a go!
Avenue_Saint Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 Bench: Gunn Targett Hoedt Romeu Hojbjerg Long Austin
Saint Pete Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 You would really bench Hojbjerg after his performance at Palace? Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Saint Fan CaM Posted 10 September, 2018 Posted 10 September, 2018 I like this but there’s not enough mobility in central midfield. Would play Hojberg instead of Armstrong to start. Then bring on either Armstrong or Romeu for Lemina or Hojberg depending on how the game is running. Agree with the two up top...Austin does not deserve a start, however I expect him to as they’ll not want to dent his confidence after a couple of poor games.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 11 September, 2018 Posted 11 September, 2018 Time to give Gabbiadini a chance. If he can recapture some of the form from when he joined that would be an awesome front two. And it might just be game time/confidence he needs.
niceandfriendly Posted 11 September, 2018 Posted 11 September, 2018 If Austin starts, and that's a big if, then it will be a great shame not to see Gabbiadini upfront alongside Daniel Ings as he surely deserves his chance. His movement causes all sorts of problems whereas Austin's movement is non existent. However Austin totally deserves to start given his goal against Brighton so it will be a great shame to see Gabbi on the team sheet ahead of him. Play them both and drop Ings, or don't play either of them and start Ings, or play one of them and drop Ings, or play either of them alongside Ings, would be my preference.
Turkish Posted 11 September, 2018 Posted 11 September, 2018 I'd definitely start with Gallagher. He spent two season in the championship being a below average striker failing to score regularly so I think he has every chance of making the step up to do that in the premier league, he could slot seamlessly into the role the injured Shane Long plays for us.
Bad Wolf Posted 11 September, 2018 Posted 11 September, 2018 Gabbi and Ings would complement each other perfectly IMO.
Toon Saint Posted 11 September, 2018 Posted 11 September, 2018 I’d start Gabbiadini with Ings, and have Gallagher as the bench option. Blobby Austin can drop out of the squad and into the gym. Will be interesting to see what Hughes goes for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Highfield Saint Posted 11 September, 2018 Posted 11 September, 2018 Can Ings play against Liverpool as he is on loan?
ericofarabia Posted 11 September, 2018 Posted 11 September, 2018 Can Ings play against Liverpool as he is on loan? I would have thought not unless a clause was written into the deal, as contrary to what most of us thought, the deal is a loan to buy - no option of opting out ... which is kind of saying he is ours isn't it? Probably just wishful thinking on my part though.
Maggie May Posted 11 September, 2018 Posted 11 September, 2018 Can Ings play against Liverpool as he is on loan? He can’t play
BARCELONASAINT Posted 11 September, 2018 Posted 11 September, 2018 He can’t play where does it say this??
