Saint Without a Halo Posted 12 August, 2018 Share Posted 12 August, 2018 Even a lower league team at home would put more pressure on Burnley Its a training match for them so far

St Chalet Posted 12 August, 2018 Author Share Posted 12 August, 2018 Ings for Austin, but to be fair it’s what’s behind that is the problem. Vestegaard and McCarthy the pick so far which says a lot.
Crab Lungs Posted 12 August, 2018 Share Posted 12 August, 2018 For those who think we are going to get better and it will all click into place, it will not. This is years worth of poor recruitment, downgrading... it will likely take more than a window to sort out. By then, I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if our remaining quality players have gone. Doesn't help when we're purposefully shooting ourselves in the foot by playing Hoedt. Bertrand and Vestergaard continually bailing him out. Then again, it's been like that ever since we signed the useless ****

Monk Posted 12 August, 2018 Share Posted 12 August, 2018 Burnley playing with a very high intensity, both in and out of possession. They're constantly looking to overload us in the final third, once the ball goes wide. We seem to hold our defensive line on the edge of the area well but regularly lose track of a Burnley player who peels off and receives just outside the penalty area. Saint's just aren't affective playing 3-4-2-1 in any phases, the wing backs just aren't an effective outlet, once we recover the ball, Cedric and Bertrand stay wide but deep, allowing Burnley to recover shape whilst the switch happens. Also very susceptible to the counter (mainly down to personel that the shape) and the diagonal between the outside centre backs and full backs. Won't be long until the central gaps open and they will be breaking our lines.

saint1977 Posted 12 August, 2018 Share Posted 12 August, 2018 Fans need to step up here as well and set out the standards we expect if the club is unable to. Roaring encouragement for bravery, including on the ball, movement, pressing and work rate. Jeers, ironic oles and booing for people not putting the work rate in. You have a choice as to what type of home match experience you have boys. After 2 seasons of negative garbage it’s time to demand better.
striker Posted 12 August, 2018 Share Posted 12 August, 2018 Our lack of possession is rediculous. It feels like Burnley have 15 players out there, they are just freely passing it back and forth in the middle of the pitch

Tauro Posted 12 August, 2018 Share Posted 12 August, 2018 Hoedt out of his depth, another long season if he's playing every game. Romeu, looked like a passenger last year, even more so this year Armstrong, looks positive but can't get on the ball with this shape. Cedric, why has he started? McCarthy & Vestergaard, class so far. Dr. Kucho Posted 12 August, 2018 Share Posted 12 August, 2018 Cant see hughes lasting long if this is our future. Is Hughes the problem? He has done well at other clubs and has been around long enough in the PL. I think the problem lies by our player recruitment over the last years, paying to much for reserve players at other clubs. This summer was the first since years we reverted to buying players who were more or less stand out players at their clubs. It’s going to take a while until we can get the balance right with the players.
