BadgerBadger Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 .....rhetorical question that. All I saw today was a Doncaster team of very little individual player quality play with heart and desire. While our lot strode around at times with little urgency or passion. It wasn't until the atmosphere got slightly edgy did they pick it up. I'm still sooo p1ssed that we let Pearson slip through our hands and that is the crowining glory on Lowes tenure for me - muppet!! I feel Poortaloo lacks the ability to rouse this bunch and is not getting the best out of our guys by a long shot where as Pearson had that quality. I've suffered with apathy at home all season but today I wanted to kick the sh1t out of the seat in front of me.
Mole Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Simple. Lowe is a spiteful egotist. He couldn't tolerate perason being a sucess having not appointed him and sacking Pearson was a good way at getting one over Leon and Lawrie. It was not a football or financial decision.

The mods might as well lock this thread now - it won't get a more succinct or accurate contribution .
SaintRobbie Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 We couldnt afford him.... apparently. Add that to your Lowe quotes Duncan!
1976_Child Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Lowe is a ***t and stabbed Pearson in the back because he didn't appoint him. Lowe is an imbecile. A ****ing idiot. No more words of contempt do I have. Lowe got rid of perhaps the best manager we have had since WGS all because he didn't appoint him. Lowe is scum. NP is a hero for keeping us in the CCC. The irony is that next season we will be in the third division while NP's Leceister will be in the CCC. Lowe is an idiot. Arrogant idiot.
wild-saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 HEard today that lowe asked pearson to to take a 60% pay cut to stay, he refused and the rest is history.
1976_Child Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 HEard today that lowe asked pearson to to take a 60% pay cut to stay, he refused and the rest is history. sure, and Leicester are paying him.....
krissyboy31 Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 We couldnt afford him.... apparently. I thought at the time we couldn't afford NOT to employ him. After today I'm certain about it.
Rebel Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 HEard today that lowe asked pearson to to take a 60% pay cut to stay, he refused and the rest is history. I wonder why Lowe asked him that?
1976_Child Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 NP was, and still is, and excellent football manager - especially for the league we are in and that Leicester are in. Namely: here is a no-nonsense drill sergeant who will lick any youngster into shape and wipe the smile of their face. If players think they can take the **** with NP the they are surely mistaken. Why we let him go I have no idea. Him and Strachan, two peas in the same pod. I reckon NP will be a premier league boss before long and also our National boss too. A real footballer, who knows how to install discipline and get the most from players. What else do you need?
SW11_Saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Why did we get rid of Pearson...... "We" didn't. Rupert Lowe did. Because he knows better than us...
SW11_Saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 God, or Lowe, knows So you have the same opinion of him that he has of himself then?!
Weston Super Saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 HEard today that lowe asked pearson to to take a 60% pay cut to stay, he refused and the rest is history. The rumours are that he was on £100k. Less 60% = £40k. The 'official' explanation was 'we couldn't afford him'. Instead we have three - or is it four, I lost count... - Dutchmen who must be on no more than £13k each to be paid less than was acceptable for Pearson. I would say you couldn't make this stuff up, but clearly someone has

I would say you couldn't make this stuff up, but clearly someone has Weston, your maths are no doubt correct but we all know the reason NP was let go: RUPERT LOWE DIDN'T APPOINT HIM SO HE CUT HIM GO!!! PURE DUCK HUNTING ARROGANCE. TIME WE ALL CUT LOWE OUT OF THE CLUB IF YOU ASK ME....
Handyman Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 I had a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I heard that Nigel Pearson had been discarded. I tried to dismiss it with the thought that I was no expert in judging who was a good manager or not, but I could not dismiss the fact that Nigel was an articulate and obviously intelligent man who besides having an ablity to handle and motivate the players, had a strong presence combined with natural charisma that won the warmth and respect of most of the fans. Just look at where Leicester are now!
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 HEard today that lowe asked pearson to to take a 60% pay cut to stay, he refused and the rest is history. More "ITN" speculation:rolleyes:
Saint_clark Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 When Pearson was here I really felt things were on the up again. Now, I don't even want to put what I feel into words....
SaintRobbie Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 I wonder why Lowe asked him that? Exactly! To get him to leave for the cloggies perhaps?
ottery st mary Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 HEard today that lowe asked pearson to to take a 60% pay cut to stay, he refused and the rest is history. Lowey had already booked the Dutch crew and wanted Pearson out as he was a Crouchey signing....Lowey could not have that. EGO OR ARROGANCE...... PROBABLY BOTH.
derry Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 "We" didn't. In fact, Lowe did, he was on a contract that had a break clause on either side at the end of the season and Lowe exercised it. He was, I am led to believe on £160k.

ottery st mary Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 If that is per annum then that is only £3000 a week. Pulis and Gasmi on more than that a week......Lowey only wanted his boyss
um pahars Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 Pearson was sacked so that he could install his Dutch duo. Just been on the blower to someone about other things and he mentioned that Lowe told him he had two foreign managers lined up not long after Pearson was first appointed, something which stacks up with what a number of other sources have told me. However, this revelation suggests the decision was made even earlier than I first thought. I think some of the SOS lot on here who had contact with Wilde & COwen were also aware that replacements were being lined up for Pearson well before the EGM was called and well before the season had ended. Purely a footballing decision by Lowe, and as saintstr1 has said on another thread, it was driven by his ego, his thirst for revenge and his desire to be seen as a trendsetter. One decision that clearly demonstrates why Lowe is not fit for purpose.
LGTL Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 Pulis and Gasmi on more than that a week......Lowey only wanted his boyss Changing the subject slightly, are they the worst two signings Saints have ever made? I know we have had some crap, but my god these two were ridiculous.

SoccerMom Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 In fact, Lowe did. That's what I meant.:yawinkle:

He couldn't tolerate perason being a sucess having not appointed him and sacking Pearson was a good way at getting one over Leon and Lawrie. It was not a football or financial decision. Nothing to do with Pearson's agent demanding to much then? Stop making stuff up and talking out of your *rse. p.s who is perason
Mole Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 Nothing to do with Pearson's agent demanding to much then? Stop making stuff up and talking out of your *rse. p.s who is perason Nope - nothing to do with PEARSON'S (sorry for the typo) agent. Lowe already had the dutch team set up before he interviewed Pearson.
AwaySaint1 Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 Nope - nothing to do with PEARSON'S (sorry for the typo) agent. Lowe already had the dutch team set up before he interviewed Pearson. So who told you this fact? The daily Echo, ugly inside, who?
Mole Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 So who told you this fact? The daily Echo, ugly inside, who? Call me ITK. Mark i'm confused a bit here, are you still anti Lowe or back on his side again?
sotonist Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 So who told you this fact? The daily Echo, ugly inside, who? think you're onto a loser with this argument. it's a matter of record on this forum, or the predecessor, that poortvliet was being lined up well before the end of last season.
AwaySaint1 Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 Call me ITK. Mark i'm confused a bit here, are you still anti Lowe or back on his side again? I just think he is still the best we can do at present. We have done change for changes sake to many times already and it allways seems to be the fans who come off worst. I have not seen a game all season and await his departure before going back. The only alternative to Lowe we have at present is administration. The guy is doing the best of a very bad job, damned if he does damned if he doesn't.

The only alternative to Lowe we have at present is administration. I don't agree with the last line. Lowe imo is a huge factor in pushing this club towards administration because of fans like me and you who are boycotting because of him. Lowe is costing this club thousands of pounds in lost gate receipts and he'll cost yet more with increased security needed for future home games. £30K is the figure being given on here for police presence on matchdays - money we cannot afford!
AwaySaint1 Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 We cannot keep shouting Lowe out though without a plan. So whats the plan, bring back Leon? He threw the dice on a promotion push and lost so Lowe now has the dice. Please dont say Wilde, look at the mess he caused bringing in a bunch of clowns. What or who next?
scally Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 My brother was told by Gordan Watson who is now scouting for Leicester and is good friends with Pearson, that Pearson asked Lowe to make him an offer. After hearing nothing he then phoned Lowe and was told the position had been filled. Nigel Pearson never had the chance to discuss what he would of wanted to stay or had an interview.
Mole Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 We cannot keep shouting Lowe out though without a plan. So whats the plan, bring back Leon? Yeah, bring back Leon Crouch. We need to be looking short term in our current predicament. In the medium to long term who knows.
alpine_saint Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 I bet Leon Crouch looks back and wishes he had offered Pearson a longer contract. Then Lowe would not have been able to afford NOT to keep Pearson...
Gorgiesaint Posted 18 January, 2009 Posted 18 January, 2009 I bet Leon Crouch looks back and wishes he had offered Pearson a longer contract. Then Lowe would not have been able to afford NOT to keep Pearson... Don't worry, Lowe would have found the money for that!! Still we might not have signed some of the fantastic talent that we've signed like Gasmi, Pulis, Pekhart.....

Yeah, well I suppose deep-down I was not convinced Pearson left for money reasons anyway...
