SuperSAINT Posted 22 February, 2021 Author Share Posted 22 February, 2021 I have no idea if it's up-to-date, but Paul Hardyman's Linkedin account reads: Head of Academy coaching @ Portsmouth. If true, not sure who's coaching the U18's.

Good spot, cheers. Had a quick look at the OS & his profile wasn’t on the U18’s page, but guess that’s a mistake. Daft Kerplunk Posted 23 February, 2021 Share Posted 23 February, 2021 I’m sure Paul Hardyman might potentially be a nice bloke but...who in their right mind takes on a coach with no particularly outstanding track record to join a club that prides itself on having a world-beating academy? And he’s a Pompey hero. Incredibly bullish!t decision when you absolutely know there are better coaches available, perhaps some of them even have Saints in their history. Just like the first team, the academy needs to be intensely assessed and realise that beyond spreadsheets and matrices, humans make the difference. It’d be nice to see us start employing the best people available and if not, at least people who give a sh!t about what this club means and have the desire to make it better from a deeper POV. SuperSAINT Posted 20 March, 2021 Author Share Posted 20 March, 2021 The U18's lost again today. Re: The Paul Hardyman mystery.... The OS report refers to us as "Louis Carey's side". Dusic Posted 20 March, 2021 Share Posted 20 March, 2021 (edited) Louis Carey is an ex Bristol City player, made hundreds of apps for them until mids 2010s. Horseman is also ex Bristol City so maybe that is the link. One thing for sure - a shakeup of coaches and players is needed because the season win % of the U23s and U18s combined must be about 10%. Surely an Academy like ours shoukd be able to attract some proven youth coaches who are well versed in coaching a pressing style? Update: seems Carey has been the assistant coach for at least 6 months. Edited 20 March, 2021 by Dusic

He's probably limited in terms of what he can do financally. These coaches will be in contract I'd have thought, I doubt we can afford a load of sackings and new recruits. egg Posted 21 March, 2021 Share Posted 21 March, 2021 (edited) The Hardyman thing is odd. Monk seemed convinced he is still here, but he’s been off our website for a while, his team is described as Louis Carey team, and his LinkedIn shows him as being at Pompey. Doesn’t suggest that he’s here to me. No disrespect to Hardyman, I’m sure we can do better and possibly Carey is better. Our big issue though is a lack of players. The B team have lost Valery, Vokins, O’Connor, Slattery, Smallbone, Chauke, Sims, Hesketh, Jankewitz, N'Lundulu and Tella. Pretty much the whole team is on loan, injured or with the first team. Because of that the B team is weak, but has to borrow u18 players who in turn are weak. it’s a mess. Edited 21 March, 2021 by egg

How do you expect dinausors to implement a progressive style of football even with the aid of a playbook. i d be more inclined into dipping into German/foreigner youth coaching and recruit so you can get real experts on that style of football. Likewise it would be good to get rid of Davis, Fleming and watson so we can get have some people to help out Ralph on that style. These people are just yes men who just do what they are told, I see zero discussions between Ralph and them during the game
VectisSaint Posted 22 March, 2021 Share Posted 22 March, 2021 They might be better getting Marianne Spacey to coach the youth. She's not got much to do with the Women, as their league season has been terminated again I believe.
