SuperSAINT Posted 11 July, 2018 Posted 11 July, 2018 At Staplewood now having a medical. Had to duck to get under the door! Through the door I mean! Sorry, busy morning! Woop!
disconnect Posted 11 July, 2018 Posted 11 July, 2018 I'm excited about this guy, think he could be a big help in getting more solid at the back, and also help weigh in at the other end and be a bit more dangerous from set pieces. Welcome to Saints Jannik (hopefully)!
SuperSAINT Posted 11 July, 2018 Posted 11 July, 2018 Long silence makes me nervous, what's happening? I'm sure it's fine.
woodsaint Posted 11 July, 2018 Posted 11 July, 2018 Probably dont want to unveil a new signing on a night dominated by England. Tomorrow is another day
Crab Lungs Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 Am I the only one looking forward to him towering over baggy suit Ross in the accompanying new signing vid?
Professor Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 If the info is correct that Vestergaard has been at Staolewood and a medical has been completed the deal must be nearly done. How does this fit with the rumour that the club is about to sign Marlon as another defender? Are we going to see 6 across the back?

I think we may have looked into a potential deal for him and Gibson as a contingency if we didn’t secure Vestergaard, but as you say, I can’t see us having 6 senior CB’s at the club. Saint Albert Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 A Danish newspaper is reporting that there is a “pause” in the Vestergaard deal, as Southampton wait for Borussia Monchengladbach to provide the final paperwork... http://sportwitness.co.uk/denmark-reason-pause-vestergaard-southampton-issue-gladbach-end/
Saint Garrett Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 Supposedly it's going to be announced today, with BM announcing the signing of Plea today also.

Saint Garrett Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 Good news. Nice are going to be minted! Hopefully not when they sign Boufal...
DT Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 Wonder if this was on the radar when we organised the friendly?

davefizzy14 Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 Sky now saying he has passed his medical Yep saw that. Good news! Hoping to be announced in next 24hrs.
angelman Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 DEFENDER PASSES SAINTS MEDICAL Jannik Vestergaard has passed his medical and is expected to be announced as a Southampton player in the next 24 hours, Sky Sports News understands. The player will join from German club Borussia Monchengladbach for a fee of £18million. West Ham were also interested in the Denmark centre-back, who featured at the World Cup. ========= ****ing West Ham are everywhere.
ErwinK1961 Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 Heard the deal is off. Smacked his head on the way into Staplewood and failed his medical.

markr27 Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 Your papers are not in order! PS1 Medal of Honor Retro moment, brilliant.
Tommy Mulgrew Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 I believe we can safely say that he (JV) is not Maradonna with the big boobies.
shurlock Posted 12 July, 2018 Posted 12 July, 2018 got a cult hero feel about him Looks like a goggly, freaky jimmy bullard.
suewhistle Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 Your papers are not in order! Wait a second, I'll shuffle them. I wonder what else will happen on the CB front? No rumours there then? Apart from the Yoshi/UAE suggestion?
Dellman Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 I don't want to lose Yoshi. He seems the old fashioned loyal one club type we need. Should be captain next season.
DT Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 I don't want to lose Yoshi. He seems the old fashioned loyal one club type we need. Should be captain next season. I totally agree
Heisenberg Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 I don't want to lose Yoshi. He seems the old fashioned loyal one club type we need. Should be captain next season. If he was good enough he'd have left to a bigger club just like the rest. However I don't see him making a Fonte / sideways move. Saying that he was heavy linked with a move to UAE subject to us being relegated so suggests he was trying to jump when we were sinking. Not sure any player is "loyal" anymore and not sure why wed expect a boy from Nagasaki Japan to buck the recent trend?
Heisenberg Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 I think we will see an announcement on JV today.

He has certainly shown his loyalty to the cause over the years, no matter where he is from. He has always played with heart, and tried his best. i regard him more favourably in this than, say, Boufal or his ilk. Thus i think you should maybe cut him some slack

But would he have stayed if he was good enough for Liverpool or United? No. Like I said he appeared ready to jump ship if we were relegated.
DT Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 I love Yoshida. But would he have stayed if he was good enough for Liverpool or United? No. Like I said he appeared ready to jump ship if we were relegated. Really think that could be said of the majority of the first team. Also, it's supposition.
Lighthouse Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 I'm not sure loyalty is the word because it's never actually been tested but he is certainly a top bloke and model pro by all accounts from those who know him.
Heisenberg Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 Really think that could be said of the majority of the first team. Also, it's supposition. My original reply was to the comment about how loyal he is and how we should reward him with the captaincy. He isn't loyal (IMHO) as he was ready to jump ship (according to reports) if we were relegated. I suspect he would have also left years ago if he was good enough for a better club. Just because you're not good enough for a better club doesn't make you "loyal" Decent guy yes (by all accounts) reliable over the years - kinda, loyal? probably not.

Something sad there.
Gingeletiss Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 Oh dear, how cynical. Something sad there. He's trolling, that's how he gets any fun in his life, a very sad individual.
SFC Forever Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 Cynical no, realistic yes. I can't see any of our squad as loyal until they turn down a big six or more money move.
Toadhall Saint Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 He's trolling, that's how he gets any fun in his life, a very sad individual. Seconded! I just wish people would not quote his drivel as I have him on ignore.
shurlock Posted 13 July, 2018 Posted 13 July, 2018 No evidence that Yoshida was trying to jump ship or engineer a move - perhaps the club was entertaining offers for players in the event we went down.
