Mystery Man (possibly Cowan)

Is Lowe really onholiday if so that is disgraceful.

There would never be a 'good' time for Lowe to go on holiday some knock for the fact he can even afford a holiday ??? don't confuse his responsibility with that of the chairman of our football club, the main protagonist imo and the individual who should be subject to all/any protests, anger etc...

Well FWIW a call from a mate who was in very close proximity to the Directors box, It appears that Wilde left 35 minutes before the end not 15 and received a lot of abuse even from those in the box. Andrew's reaction was one of horror and he was also upset that he was getting abuse from the fans.

Seems like the sentiments you heard were probably from the heart JM, possibly from the series of events - somehow from this it could suggest that the relationship there appears not all well - and my mate says Andrew was really upset by everything that went on.

Don't shoot the messenger, just reporting a skype call

Yes i agree, he came up to us for a reason, obviously had had enough. Nice bloke too

Is Lowe really onholiday if so that is disgraceful, the club is at is darkest hour and he abandons ship, I know most would say about time too but really he should be here not on bloody holiday. Suppose he has gone to his Island in Scotland fishing.

Don`t forget that he only spends 2 days a week at the Club. The rest of the time is taken up with W.H.Ireland.

I think posters need to pull themselves into the real world. We are in an age of mobile phones, email and instant video conference facilities.

It does not matter Lowe was not there. Wilde & Cowen were.

He's the CEO of the Club, the man charged with the day to day responsibility of running the Club. Even if he only works two days, then one of them should be a Saturday, or alternatively he should be turning up gratis on matchdays.

I was critical of Hone not making some games, and I will be critical of Lowe not attending matches.

It's the single most important day in any working week, a day when it all comes together, and a day at which the CEO should be present. The manager reports to him and it is the day when the manager should be assessed.

There's nothing like seeing, hearing and experiencing things first hand.

I respect your posts Ron, but have to say the last few have been out of touch with reality. I think you need to get in the real world fella.

It does matter that Lowe was not there. It's his job to be there and given the serious situation the club is in and the FACT Donny was a huge game it's scandalous he wasn't in attendance.

I can only hope Wilde appreciated the feeling amongst the fans and for once does the right thing and proxies his shares to leon crouch.

I have put up an explanation of my comments on the other thread. Whether you agree with it or not is for debate but I can tetell you I am in the real world Steve. I just see some things different than you perhaps with a more dispassionate eye. .

People including Crouch are asking Lowe to get away from the football side and concentrate on plc matters. Wilde is the Chairman of Football. He reports back to the plc board and collective decisions are made there. Wilde was present but left early.

I just do not see the need for Lowe to be at every match. A CEO of a company does not spend every day on the shop floor, he relies on reports and looks at the statistics. Matches are on video. He can review if necessary.

It does call into question Lowes alleged love for the club, I will grant you and others on this thread that point.

That is my view and the reason for my comment on this thread.

He is the CEO, the man in charge of day to day affairs and he should be present to oversee what goes on on this important day. It is the one day where everything comes together and is nothing like a production line in a factory.

Comparing Lowe to a boss of a factory is just the sort of apologist rubbish I expect from others and not your goodself. Hone quite rightly got some stick for not attending some away matches and Lowe too should be quite rightly criticised.

And there is no way that Wilde can report back to the PLC Board as he is hardly ever here. He is no more than a token figurehead. Lowe runs this Club and on such an important day he should have been there.

As for videos, are you being serious???? There's more to the matchday than a video of what goes on on the field. Lowe is out of touch and for some reason Ron, I fear you are beginning to go the same way.

(PS And considering that picture was so important, you would have thought Lowe would have been around to welcome our Donny guests ;-) )

Actually I was not thinking of factories but my own industy in the financial sector. May be my 5 years in retirement has distanced me from the real world of today ;)

As for the picture, have you been in the board room lately? I have been told (not verified) that a picture of the team and the FA Cup is there.

The argument Mrs McMememy is using as a stick to beat Lowe with is kind of embarrasing and detracts from the real issues and arguments for Lowes removal.

It is reported that Lowe offered an olive branch to McMenemy when he came back but McMemeny's mistrust and dislike for Lowe caused him to turn away from such gesture. I don't blame him for turning it down by the way any more than I do not blame Lowe for removing the picture from the boardroom. However, as is typical with Lowe he handled it very badly. It could have been put in the Hospitality area. Offering it back to McMememy was poor show in my opinion.

Some may call my comments a contradiction in terms but I can live with that ;)

Just wondering. If Lowe was to keep staying away and Wilde was to keep sneaking off to avoid the protests...

I wonder how long it would take for some fans to start protesting at the offices of W H Ireland (or whatever Lowe's other businesses are called) and so on?

Personally I'd rather people protested there than at SMS anyway!

FWIW and to give a comedy value to the days gloom.

My mate who was sitting close to the Directors Box saw Fulthorpe & the other one in Hostility Reception.

Apparently Fulof button-holed Cowan before the game and said - just you wait until Wednesday, we'll be in charge then....

No proof at my side ITK-wise, but it came back in a really depressing phone call after the game

Any significance that both Wilde and Abromovich left respective games with 15 mins remaining

I'm guessing that they had arranged a video link to discuss Abromovitch selling Chelsea to Mid Eastern interests and using the dosh to buy Saints or the Channel Isles!!

And the city of Southampton and Docks for Docking bloody big Boats.

I strongly disagree - you had to be there to feel the real feeling. Instant conference, mobile phones and e mails have nothing to contribute to a relationship a fan has for his club. No offence Ron, but sometimes you come across as being more more concerned about forever being regarded as the voice of reason while the real story passes you by.

It is about time some of the fence sitters made a stand.

Ron (Weston Saint) is a great bloke and deservedly well respected but there are times when people like him have to enter the fray and get their hands dirty. We have now reached the lowest nadir in our history - fans have never fought each other before and yet some on here are arguing semantics. We either collectively "do " something or we implode but now is not the time for "after you Claude platitudes" or friggin sermons from Frank Cousins. I am sorry but I am angry. I can't get rid of Lowe more's the pity but the time for analysing every petty little point on a forum is now gone. Every true fan of SFC needs to look at themselves and say "what or how am I going to do something to save this club". If you can't be bothered then perhaps you will deserve what you will ultimately get, but it is time for those who up to now have chosen not to stick their heads above a parapet to perhaps stand up and be counted.

Sorry Ron and FC and anyone else out there of a weak disposition but let's get real, lets get united and let's stop the "I am the voice of reason" posturing.

Well said Duncan. This isn't the time for pontificating. I do think that the only thing we can do as fans is to boycott matches. But unless the ST holders are willing to forgo their pre-paid seats it still won't have enough impact.

Quite right.....there is no point applying a voice of reason when dealing with people so arrogant and stubborn as that person who is destroying this club.

Have you ever heard the expression "divide and conquer" ?

That is exactly what Lowe and Co. are doing, its working too isnt it with the fighting amongst ourselves. We must all unite in an effort to finally rid the club of this man who will NOT restore the club to financial stability. How can he with dwindling attendances and the need to have the remaining matches at home Policed. Someone has worked out the extra costs incurred by those two factors.

Christ, even the Ticket office manager told the Echo that the club are aware that many supporters are staying away because of the Chairman !!!

Hope your job is safe Mr Luker, i really do.

I think Cowan is a week man. And would crumble under any sort of pressure. Lowe on the other hand will just dig his heals ind and dismiss the protests.[/quote

Andrew C is a very good CEO if fact we are lucky to have him . He is CEO of the Rosebowl and even tonight one of the other posters has sung the praises of how well that is run.

The staff at SMS like AC and respect him as being even handed and fair , he always has time for people and IF what happened yesterday is true then he is hurting and I feel for him because he does care about the club .

If Lowe left you would be hard pushed to find a better CEO , Trevor Birch being the only one who comes close .

IMHO.

I agree with this point and i honestly don't think Lowe cares about how he is destroying the fanbase.

I don't like Wilde for what he's done, BUT i still do think he cares and for this reason i hope he makes ammends before it's too late and transfers his support to Leon Crouch.

Think you and I need three hours in a pub with a decent pint of bitter to fully debate this one - I am up for it if you are.

By way of a start I reckon if the IRA had not gone down the "violent" route to start with then they would not be in the power sharing position they now enjoy. But like I say lets make a date in a pub.

Sure I'm up for it. Never say no to a spirited debate and a pint! Currently I'm a bit of a shallow fan since I live in Brighton, am separated and have two young kids to look after at weekends. Might be able to make Swansea.

Slightly off topic, but my uncle used to distribute newspapers in West Belfast. Gerry Adams was his paper boy at one stage.

Let’s look at this from a logical viewpoint. We want Lowe and Wilde out of SMS and SLH. That is the mission statement but is it enough. We need to make sure someone competent can come in and run the club, not for a while until the mythical investor turns up but for the next 5 years.

Ridding Lowe of attending matches is not enough. We need to see the back of him permanently.

So how do we achieve it lawfully? We have to marginalise his support but how? Wilde will be a good start but so far he has not shifted as he is worried about losing his money. Quite honestly Lowe is doing a pretty good job at marginalising his own support through his actions to date and even that has been ineffective. What can we achieve?

Once he has been marginalised, what next? We need a plan for someone to come in knowing there is no money in the pot with a struggling side and coaches that are just not up to the job. Who is capable of this and drive us forward with a business plan for the next 5 years?

How is that for starters.

Toatlly crass. How the hell can you defend the guy's absence when he has such influence over players, team selection etc etc etc. If you cannot see the time for jerking yourself off with convoluted defence of the Lowe Disunited regime and realise that things need to get nasty to effect the change that is required NOW - I feel sorry for you.

Try to be civil and through your red mist you might just see I am not a Lowe supporter.

Here is a way.

First find a consortium of business men who have a passion for Saints. Say Salz, Davies and others who I will not name as I have promised confidentiality. Then find a football COE to bind it all together.

Ask them to put together a business plan for the next 3 or 5 years to save the club and take it forward.

Once you have that you need to review the shareholders list and write to all shareholders setting out the plan and asked for pledged support.

If you are lucky to get enough support you then get the consortium to go to the financial institutions including Aviva for support of the plan and showing the shareholder support.

Just may be Wilde and some of the others who support Lowe at present will see that alternative and break ranks.

Once you have a pledge for 50% or more, you approach the board and ask them to resign. If they do not you call for an EGM.

Once Lowe has gone the rebuilding can take place but it will not happen tomorrow. It needs time

Anyone got a better idea?

The fact that Wilde left well before the end of Saturday's match suggests that he is just as worried about team performance. Even the die-hard Lowe supporters are now conceding it's time to try something new and for Wilde not to do so is surely inviting administration.

A sensible post. Nevertheless the club needs a short-term fix, last throw of the dice. Therefore, I would like to see Askham, Richards and Withers withdraw their support for Rupert Lowe. Someone like Salz could then come in as acting PLC Chairman. Also, a new experienced first team manager is a must. The club will only win the relegation battle united.

Over the next few days the likes of Askham, Richards and Withers will have to do some hard soul searching. I hope they put the wellbeing of Southampton Football Club ahead of any loyalty they hold with Rupert Lowe.

Ron, thanks for attempting a reasoned, sensible reply.

However we have now passed the rubicon for rationality, it is too late.

And we do not have time.

Sometimes pitchforks speak louder than "approachs", "reviews" or "setting out plans" as the French Revolution proved. Yes mob rule never works but just occasionally a bit of blood and thunder prods minds in the better direction. Of course I am speaking as an old fashioned totally out of date/touch trade unionist. :)

Absolutely.

Salz has let it be known though that he will have nothing to do with SFC while Lowe is in charge.

Personally I do not think he is showing much of an aptitude, and I am starting to think if you can't be bothered to get stuck in now when we need you why don't you "foxtrot oscar". But there again its late and it has been a long weekend to be a Saints fan.

Sounds like the old Sisa meetings in the polygon are required to put people together rather than behind a series of keyboards. At the very least someone could organise a skype link up to get the ball rolling. I'm in Bangkok at the mo visiting the inlaws, so is a little tricky getting anything done. Action is required.

Obviously not in the polygon now but you get the point.
