CB Fry Posted 3 October, 2019 Share Posted 3 October, 2019 Who mentioned financial year?. Over the last 2/3 seasons we have wasted vast amounts of money for a club our size on players, some of which are still owned by us because no other club will pay anything close to what we did. Hardly pearl clutching when we are left with a side barely capable of keeping us in the prem and with little to no budget to improve the squad, probably due to our past negligent overspending on players like Eylounoussi. Lots of other clubs waste millions and millions on sh it players. Get over it.

stevy777_x Posted 3 October, 2019 Share Posted 3 October, 2019 .... and scores ( massive deflection ) He got the ball back, beat one man then played a great pass to a Celtic player who advanced down the wing then squares it back to Mo who scores with a deflected shot. Great goal from Mo, he deserved that. Looks full of running, working hard, has good pace on him. Funny what a little confidence does to a player. Forster also looks to be enjoying himself, made a great save 5 mins ago. Also if we could sing like the Celtic fans do, St Mary s would be rocking. Shame it won t happen in a million years. Saint Garrett Posted 4 October, 2019 Share Posted 4 October, 2019 Bickering aside, the problem with Elyounoussi is that any scout watching him for five minutes should have been able to tell that he's got absolutely no acceleration or top-line pace. If a player has all the attributes to succeed and doesn't work out (Boufal, Lemina, Hoedt might fall into this category) then fair enough - those are the breaks where you're trying to game the market. When someone fails because of physical characteristics that are obvious within the first few minutes of his debut, then a bit of finger-pointing is probably warranted (especially if you boast about having scouted the aforementioned player for six sodding years before signing). You say that, but Tadic had no pace, and he was excellent for us.

Never seen that from Elyounoussi.I watched Tadic constantly get out run by CBs in his whole time at saints. I never understood why his team mates would attempt to slip balls through for him to run onto when he could never get to them before the opposition defender. I actually think Tadic would have had trouble out pacing big Vest. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
way down south Posted 4 October, 2019 Share Posted 4 October, 2019 tadic's main attribute and what made him useful was that he was good at spotting gaps in the oppo defence and weighted his passes through beautifully. especially when he had intelligent runners and prolific scorers like mane and pelle infront of him. also the floated or whipped crosses he made with his left foot were almost always pinpoint. pelle fed off of it as did mane. elyounoussi never demonstrated such qualities for whatever reasons. IMO what elyounoussi struggled most with was the intensity and pace of the epl. split second decisions are what he needed to make but tadic was more intelligent and usually made the right decisions with his passes quickly. scoring was more of an issue for him while he was here as i remember it. he always preffered to pass the ball rather than take a shot, even when in a good position to shoot. verlaine1979 Posted 4 October, 2019 Share Posted 4 October, 2019 He had/has good short-distance acceleration to create space for a cross though. Never seen that from Elyounoussi. This - Tadic wasn't fast, but was excellent at shifting balance and had enough acceleration from there to create space for himself. It's like the scouts looked at Tadic and the lesson they took from him was that you don't need pace to thrive in the PL. Sure, but you'd better have something else that makes up for it, and Elyounoussi doesn't have anything.

I'm sure they're more aware of his capabilities on the training field to assess whether he's up to it, sending him to Celtic might be a move to get his confidence up or they've seen enough and looking for a club to sell on to. Either the PL is a step too far or we just have a bad habit of sending players backwards in form.

But now he's scored a couple and all of a sudden, he's becoming a top player now according to some. Sometimes, good players just don't fit in at clubs. Sometimes, they just need reinvigorating somewhere else. This is definitely not the case for Moi. He's just rubbish, full stop.

Useful Idiot Posted 20 October, 2019 Share Posted 20 October, 2019 Moi's never really going to suit a fast paced pressing/counterattacking team. Ironically, he'd probably been OK in a Pellegrino team that was based around slow buildup and holding possession around the edge of the opposition area. Micky Posted 21 October, 2019 Share Posted 21 October, 2019 He scored against the mighty Ross County, given the standard of defending on show, it's painfully obvious that he's now playing teams most of which are probably championship or league one level at best. He's not the first, and won't be the last player to achieve nothing in England to then move to Scotland and win 'honours'. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/scotland/50117853 Sent from my SM-T590 using Tapatalk

PL was clearly a step to far but shopping around in the lower leagues for players with promise is how we do our transfer business so for every VVD or Mane there are bound to be plenty of "not good enough" players picked up along the way. way down south Posted 21 October, 2019 Share Posted 21 October, 2019 despite him seemingly banging them in at celtic, he still lacks the basic ingredients to succeed here in epl. pace, dribbling ability, clever passing, good shooting ability, strength. he needs a combination of atleast a few of these qualities coupled with instant decision making to make it here, which he just doesn't have. comparisons with scott sinclair seem fair as he seems to have found his level. sinclair was absolute sh!t in england then he went up there and notched double figures for goals and assists which means he found his level but doesn't mean he would do the same elsewhere, same with moi IMO. if they bid upto 12 mil for him, we should snap their hands off. Saint_clark Posted 22 October, 2019 Share Posted 22 October, 2019 Looking at the guys record overall he's got a very, very good goals and assists to games ratio. I understand it's in mostly lower leagues but the only time he's played in a higher league at no point did he get a run in the team. Add to the fact that he's on course to win his 5th piece of silverware and his 3rd league title in 3 different countries. I think there's still a good player there, but whether we'll ever see him do it in this country is unlikely.

He's playing for a professional outfit against the equivalent of Sunday League teams. If he didn't look good against them, I'd sue Ross and Reed for the greatest degree of negligence it was possible for anyone to have in this situation. Ross County's capacity is about 6500.
