Wade Garrett Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 People writing him off before he’s even signed need to have a look at themselves. Perhaps I’m a bit old fashioned but I’ll wait to see him play for Saints. I also believe clubs our size have to sign some players with potential, there are 26 year olds in Scotland who are at the peak of their game. Obviously you wouldn’t want to sign one of them, but part and parcel of scouting is identifying the ones that can improve. Put the guy with better players, in a better league and he could blossom into it. Amateurs like us wont be able to tell, but a professional scouting set up, that’s monitored him for months, if not years, could do. Championship players don’t stay championship standard their whole career, some thrive at a higher level. Maybe he’s one, maybe he’s not, but £7mil is peanuts in the modern game. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk It’s great that we’re signing a player that we’ll get their best years from, rather than one that we’re looking to make a profit from.
Chez Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Celtic fans seem to feel he's the 4-5th best midfielder at the club just now.... if that is a true reflection of the majority of Celtic fans then it is deeply depressing.
OttawaSaint Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Anyone able to translate? Oh Brendan said, we're going to play him in centre mid, Oh words can't describe, When you see him in the Green and White, His hair is fine, He scores belters all the time, That's why we sing a song, For Stuart Armstrong
Chez Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 If he is the replacement for Davis as many on this thread are suggesting, does that mean Davis is actually leaving? He has been terrific for us, all be it a poor last season, but if he legs hve gone then I can't see anyone interested that can actually afford his wages, thus he will see his contract out.

Might take a cut for a last go at Rangers..
Saint Billy Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 He has a decent shot on him thats for sure, it will be a nice change to see some long range efforts at last.
Turkish Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Can't wait too see the video of our lot singing our song for him One Stuart Armstrong, there's only one Stuart Armstrong Clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap
Lighthouse Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Might take a cut for a last go at Rangers.. Especially as he only has a year left here and someone else might offer him 2.
Bananaman Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 I keep checking in to see if Stuart Armstrong has signed.... Stuart Armstrong...
DT Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Bit unfair all this. He looks a decent player and £7m is a total steal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chez Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Might take a cut for a last go at Rangers.. if he is on say, £60k a week here, then it will have to be one hell of a cut for a completely skint Rangers to be a factor. I cant see him going anywhere, which is a problem.

I cant see him going anywhere, which is a problem. If he was willing to take a cut I could see him doing pretty well at one of the better championship sides. He is a great pro, would be an example to younger members of the side. Wonder if Frank Lampard is looking to add experience at Derby County? Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
Turkish Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Oh Les Reed said: We gotta play him in centre mid Oooooh words can't describe When we see him in the red and white He'll soon be yours He'll go to Anfield with no sell on clause That's why we sing this song For Stuart Armstrong

Don't think it means Davo leaving. But he is not reliable as Hughes found out at the end of last season, makes sense to bring in a replacement/competitor/backup for his position going into his last season. They could probably play together in some circumstances. In the past I thought Davis might go back to Rangers, but can't see Gerrard wanting that (don't know why, just doesn't feel like the way Stevie G will go). Think Davis is possibly being lined up for a coaching role once he retires. have we even heard any news about his injury? Diid he have an op as was suggested. Can't see us offloading our club captain.
Tamesaint Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Interesting comments here - http://www.talkingbaws.com/2018/06/why-stuart-armstrong-will-be-missed-at-celtic-and-be-very-welcome-at-southampton/ What absolute b ollocks. What does this bloke know?? Heisenberg has seen him play and knows that he is c rap. Do we ever buy any decent players??
shurlock Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 What absolute b ollocks. What does this bloke know?? Heisenberg has seen him play and knows that he is c rap. Do we ever buy any decent players?? The talkceltic forum is probably a better gauge than the views of another millennial wannabe journo.
doddisalegend Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 The talkceltic forum is probably a better gauge than the views of another millennial wannabe journo. Not if its anything like this place. If you looked on here for opinion of one of our players...say JWP...you'd think he was either a young, upcoming super star and a dead ball specialist or one of the worst players to ever pull on a saints shirt who can't pass, tackle or run...
Saint Benali Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 What a strange signing. If this is the level of player we are now looking at we are in trouble. He was awful in Europe this season in the games I watched.
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Good signing. Studying for a law degree in his spare time so must be quite cultured. A good influence in the dressing room.
Ex Lion Tamer Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 (edited) Let's hope he's better than Neil McCann but it feels a bit similar unfortunately Edited 23 June, 2018 by Ex Lion Tamer
Bad Wolf Posted 23 June, 2018 Posted 23 June, 2018 Stop signing Celtic players. Why? Worked alright so far.
HKsaint Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 Why? Worked alright so far. As we are turning from signing their star players to signing what they don't want. What would you think about Liverpool if they were going to sign Boufal?
simo Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 As we are turning from signing their star players to signing what they don't want. What would you think about Liverpool if they were going to sign Boufal? Didn't want him yet offered him a new contract , which he turned down hence being partly frozen out !
alehouseboys Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 Anyone able to translate? 'Enola Gay' apparantly, fooked if I could make that out!
Suomi Saint Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 The reports from Scotland are that he has wanted a move to the EPL for a couple of years. If Strachan rates him the that is okay by me. Give the lad a chance.
Batman Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 Didn't want him yet offered him a new contract , which he turned down hence being partly frozen out ! Where is this coming from about being frozen out?
RedArmy Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 Why? Worked alright so far. How many are still here? Just that useless sack of sh1t between the sticks.
doddisalegend Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 How many are still here? Just that useless sack of sh1t between the sticks. Which suggests they worked out well doesn't it?

Heisenberg Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 Jos Hooiveld Victor Wanyama Fraser Forster Virgil Van Dijk Stuart Armstrong Can we have Tierney and Dembele too please
ChiefScummer Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 Pretty polarising player when you read through the celtic forums. Can't say I've ever seen him play but most of the celtic fans seem to like him although a few think he is utter tosh. Pretty hard to gauge from reading a forum but I'm excited. Let's see what he can do!

GGalpin Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 My Celtic supporting friend who goes to around half of our home games a season says Armstrong is a great player and exactly what we need. He knows his stuff. Spoke to a Celtic fan at work today and he said the same- complimented him very highly.
Batman Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 Spoke to a Celtic fan at work today and he said the same- complimented him very highly. A mate of mine also goes to park head fairly regularly and said the same thing. Very good player
Faz Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 A mate of mine also goes to park head fairly regularly and said the same thing. Very good player There’s plenty of people on here who’ve never seen him play and would disagree
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 Doesn't exactly scream ambition to me but given our track record with Celtic I'm more than willing to see how it goes.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 24 June, 2018 Posted 24 June, 2018 https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/celtic-fans-should-salute-stuart-12774967.amp?__twitter_impression=true Interesting line in this article in the Daily Record: "Armstrong has sealed a £7 million switch to Southampton after the clubs struck a deal this week." Sounds like it's already complete?
