Hamilton Saint Posted 16 June, 2018 Share Posted 16 June, 2018 Trivia question for you. In 1964-1965 I used to take a double-decker bus from Holyrood Church on the High Street (below bar) through town, through Portswood, and across the Cobden Bridge into Bitterne Park, before getting off at St. Mary's College. I remember it as the No. 14 route. Is that correct?
Lets B Avenue Posted 16 June, 2018 Share Posted 16 June, 2018 Yes. Went on up Mousehole Lane and then onto Townhill Park, before coming back.

Hamilton Saint Posted 17 June, 2018 Author Share Posted 17 June, 2018 (edited) I found a few good pics of a No. 14 bus via a google search. View From The Top Posted 17 June, 2018 Share Posted 17 June, 2018 I used to catch it either at the top of Mousehole Lane, not to far from the Bitterne Brewery or at the bottom of the hill by Leybourne Ave. As a kid it was handy for The Dell and, ice rink and central baths. After games I'd rush into town to watch final score outside Rumbelows, or one of the other TV hire places, and then catch it home from Above Bar to miss the crowd at the cenotaph. Hamilton Saint Posted 18 June, 2018 Author Share Posted 18 June, 2018 I took the Hythe Ferry from Hythe every day, and walked up to the bus stop at Holyrood Church.
Window Cleaner Posted 18 June, 2018 Share Posted 18 June, 2018 Met the first of my fiancées on a number 14 bus. I got on at the stop near Beechwood, went to Taunton's, she got on at The Triangle, went to G.G. Didn't have an Umbrella though.
