mdearlove Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Burnley Everton Leicester Palace Brighton Liverpool Lets hope we get some points from what is probably one of the easier sets of fixtures to start the season.
del boy Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 my eyes always go to the run in - match kinder than last season with Wolves, Bournemouth and Huddersfield at St Mary's in the last 5 (away to Newcastle and Wet Spam)
trousers Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 The usual December/January capitulation awaits I see... Sat Dec 1 Manchester United H Wed Dec 5 Tottenham Hotspur A Sat Dec 8 Cardiff City A Sat Dec 15 Arsenal H Sat Dec 22 Huddersfield Town A Wed Dec 26 West Ham United H Sat Dec 29 Manchester City H Tue Jan 1 Chelsea A
mdearlove Posted 14 June, 2018 Author Posted 14 June, 2018 yeah - hadn't got that far but it looks like we have a gentle start and finish to the season with all the tough ones in between. Christmas to new year has been quite kind too in terms of travel. Home to West Ham, Home to Man City, away to Chelsea
dellboypete Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Can't believe it took 7 minutes for someone to start this thread!! Usually starts within a couple of seconds. However, looks a fairly well balanced list (apart from the usual)- like last season - so should struggle then!!
Bad Wolf Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 That's very kind. No real "killer runs" like normal. I swear we're ALWAYS at home on the last day.
mdearlove Posted 14 June, 2018 Author Posted 14 June, 2018 All the midweek games are currently either at Home, or if away, in London.
davefizzy14 Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Fixtures are really good this time. All well spaced out, no obviously awful runs of games at any point. Christmas a great mix of winnable games, big games and mostly home games. End of season lots of favourable fixtures. First 3 games plenty of chances for points. Couldn't have asked for more. Yeah agree adriansfc. Really happy with the opening run of fixtures. Hope we can get off to a good start. Liking the fact we have mostly home games over the festive period and a home game to finish off the season. COYR
Pancake Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 For the first time ever I think I can actually say it’s a decent set of fixtures for us. The run in, Spurs and Pool aside is very good.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 I am disappointed we didn't get Man Utd, thought it was a fact that we had http://www.skysports.com/southampton-fixtures

M271 Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Apart from 1st December to 1st January period where we play 5 of the 'Top 6' at a time of year we don't seem to normally perform well, the season seems quite well balanced with easier (on paper) start and ending.
Saint Garrett Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Full list: Home in bold, "top 6" games in red... August 11 - Burnley (H) August 18 - Everton (A) August 25 - Leicester (H) September 9 - Crystal Palace (A) September 15 - Brighton (H) September 22 - Liverpool (A) September 29 - Wolves (A) October 6 - Chelsea (H) October 20 - Bournemouth (A) October 27 - Newcastle (H) November 3 - Man City (A) November 10 - Watford (H) November 24 - Fulham (A) December 1 - Manchester United (H) December 5 - Tottenham (A) December 8 - Cardiff (A) December 15 - Arsenal (H) December 22 - Huddersfield (A) December 26 - West Ham (H) December 29 - Manchester City (H) January 1 - Chelsea (A) January 12 - Leicester (A) January 19 - Everton (H) January 30 - Crystal Palace (H) February 2 - Burnley (A) February 9 - Cardiff (H) February 23 - Arsenal (A) February 27 - Fulham (H) March 2 - Manchester United (A) March 9 - Tottenham (H) March 16 - Watford (A) March 30 - Brighton (A) April 6 - Liverpool (H) April 13 - Wolves (H) April 20 - Newcastle (A) April 27 - Bournemouth (H) May 4 - West Ham (A) May 12 - Huddersfield (H) Got to be happy with that start but it does mean that we need to get points on the board early (just like last season), so we need to get our squad sorted asap so we're ready to go on day 1...! Run in not awful either if we need points at the end of the season... Home games to start and finish, and on boxing day
lickierambert Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Good start and finish, tough Christmas period as ever
Evil Monkey Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Brilliant fixtures. Not had a better start to a season since.....oh, last year.
Heisenberg Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Looking at Liverpool September 22.... This game will mark 868 days since we last beat a top 6 side in the league. JRM Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Burnley at home will most likely be on Sunday as they'll be in a Europa league qualifier the Thursday before (hopefully somewhere involving a long flight)
Picard Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Burnley will have 9th and 16th August pencilled in for their Europa 3rd round quals so we won't be playing them on Saturday.
Mattio Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Clearly they've made some sort of mistake, we're playing United.... Love and light from Kenya.
SW5 SAINT Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Looks like we have to play every one , home and away Lol...at least we finish with Huddersfield at home.........

S-Clarke Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 A nice laid out fixture list I think. More ballance than last season for sure. A decent start and a chance to pickup points early doors. December is geared up to be our usual null-points period, but we could get some blockbuster results over that time - maybe. Always like a home game to start and end the season, - and boxing day. So all good for me.
once_bitterne Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Opening game will be moved to Sunday if Burnley progress to 2nd Qual round of EL.
SW5 SAINT Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 I am disappointed we didn't get Man Utd, thought it was a fact that we had http://www.skysports.com/southampton-fixtures I think you will find we are playing them, twice - home, and away as well!!

Whitey Grandad Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Burnley will have 9th and 16th August pencilled in for their Europa 3rd round quals so we won't be playing them on Saturday. Is there any possibility that it will be moved to the Monday night? I need to book some ferry crossings.

Pamplemousse Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 There is always a team with a disgusting rub-in.... who is it this year? Leicester. Last three games are Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea
Pamplemousse Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 (edited) Is there any possibility that it will be moved to the Monday night? I need to book some ferry crossings. No, Sky and BT will choose the five games that involve the big six teams, they always do. If Burnley are out of Europe by then, it'll be the Saturday, if they're still involved it'll be moved to the Sunday. We'll only know on the 2nd August what day we'll play on, unless the Premier League decide to move it to the Sunday anyway to save the fans hassle. Edited 14 June, 2018 by Pamplemousse
Charlie Wayman Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Well, we could not have hoped for a better start than this, beat Burnley & Leicester and we will be off to a flying start against the sort of teams we ought to beat and used to beat and then our run of fixtures gives us every chance of top 3 at the end of October. This provided that we do not get disrupted by key players leaving and Hughes getting our "hidden quality" back on view and in full flow. By the way who was that complete tool who published the fake fixture list with Man U at home as our first game?
Kingsland Codger Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 In addition to the Burnley fixture, it looks like we might clash with Champions League/Europa League fixtures as follows … CL matches on September 18 and 19 - we are scheduled to play Liverpool away on 22 September (might not needed to be switched) EL match on October 4 - we are scheduled to play Chelsea at home on 6 October EL match on December 13 - we are scheduled to play Arsenal at home on December 15
Wurzel Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 I remember this time last year seeing our "easy" start and predicting we would be top of the league at Bonfire night. That went well then. I'll keep quiet this time round although our fixtures till the end of October look pretty comfortable

mrfahaji Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 I'd rather play the better teams at the start, especially after a World Cup when loads of their players will be back late to training and may have a bit of a tournament hangover. That could all be a myth of course. Getting the top teams over Xmas is a bit of an issue, where they can use their squad rotation ability to the max, but at least we have quite a few home games in that time. Overall pretty happy though, although our start is decent, it's not 'easy' like last season, which means if we do drop points we won't be feeling like it'll cost us come the end of the season, but if we win then it sets us up nicely.
Chez Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 Looks like we have to play every one , home and away noticed that. Typical.

Interesting thought. 2014/15 Week 1 United lost at home to Swansea Spurs, Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs all won Week 2 United and Arsenal drew (to Sunderland and Everton respectively) City beat Liverpool Spurs, and Chelsea both won 2010/11 Week 1 Spurs v City, Liverpool v Arsenal both draws United and Chelsea (6-0) won Week 2 Spurs, Arsenal (6-0) and Chelsea (6-0 again) won United drew with Fulham Man City beat Liverpool
OttawaSaint Posted 14 June, 2018 Posted 14 June, 2018 The first game will mark 665 days since we last beat Burnley in the league. Got a funny feeling we will pinch this one* *cheeky insurance bet placed just in case Love and light
