Following the raid on Mar-a-lago "Nothing like this has ever happened to a president of the United States before." donald trump.

Could that be because no other president of the United States has been an incompetent criminal before you?

Probably would have happened to Nixon had he not been pardoned.

US Presidents are still referred to as President after they leave office, mate.

Not by me they aren’t. The official website of the United States gives the proper salutation as,

When sending letters to former presidents, the proper form for addressing the envelope is:
The Honorable (president's name)’

Other than that I suspect there are some trumpophiles who can’t help themselves. It has become optional.

Sickening how Pence still fawning, What the fck is the matter with people?

And Farage giving it the ‘deep state’ line.

It's beyond parody, how can that spineless twat support a 'man' who 8 months ago was happy to see him hanged?? Why are the republican reptiles so shocked and angry that a potential criminal is being investigated for potential crimes?

They'll mostly all rally behind their man until it is no longer feasible to do so (ie he ends up in jail). Yes, it is sickening.

Secretly, I expect a lot of Republicans are hoping this is the end of Trump and they can build their party back to how it was, whilst still throwing sympathetic nods to their former martyred leader who commands so much pull with the voters. If the raid and investigation comes to nothing much, then business as usual.

The investigation needs to uncover something big (I'm hoping for a Moscow pee tape), otherwise the possible abortion overturn advantage the Democrats won recently will count for nothing in the November midterms.

This imo. They want him gone but dont want the fallout of being seen to be the ones who wield the sword.

It was a facist coup. Only difference with Germany and 1933 is that 6 January 2021 failed and for that the world can be grateful. No wonder Trump and Putin admire each other so much.

I don’t think Putin admires Trump one bit. Almost certain to have contempt for him I would say although probably welcomes (and privately mocks) the fawning.

No it’s akin to the beer hall putsch. That failed but it set the scene for 1932/3.  The people who breached congress should be tried for treason, the USA needs to defend their democracy, currently they are pussy footing.

Until the GOP finds a way to condemn and dump Donnie the problems will continue. How can McConnell continue to tolerate a man who he holds personally responsible for Jan 6th, and publicly makes attacks against him and posts racial slurs against his wife ?

So, after the Republicans annihilate the Democratic Party in the mid-terms next week and with Biden sitting at the lowest rating ever for a US President at this stage of his term, Trump is set to announce that he will run again for the Presidency. With Di Santos as VP, he will walk into the White House and the West will be saved.

Socialism has yet again proved to be no solution to poverty and war. Trump will stand on his record and that of the hapless Biden. A new dawn for the world with someone who will stand up to our enemies. Let's hope the UK wake up to the danger posed by Starmer and his communist chums in two years. If not I'm back to the US PDQ. With him and the unions at the helm it would be the Biden years for us in the UK.

1) The Republicans under Trump will cut the support for Ukraine to thank Putin for buying them the election. Hardly "standing up to our enemies".

2) Biden and the Democrats are not Socialists.

3) Starmer is not a Communist.

Whatever political thesaurus you are reading needs a complete rewrite.

( How I managed to construct an answer to that post without adding profanity or insult shows enormous self restraint ).

You need to stay off the sauce so early in the morning.

What Badger said and yes, please do go back to the USA, preferably a rabidly Republican state like Florida where your extremist views will fit in well. I’ll even drive you to the airport if you don’t have a licence any longer. I can only assume that you don’t watch mainstream news and only watch misinformation on You Tube/Fox as the Truss budget debacle and the 6 January hearings with an array of Neo Nazis going to jail for their part in the coup attempt.

I also doubt if Trump allowing his boss Vladimir to invade the former Iron Curtain countries again, further hobbling the world economy and creating the worst risk of nuclear war for 40 years is ‘saving the West’. The people of Ukraine will be under a vile despot (two effectively with Trump).

You’d have supported Hitler in the 1930s wouldn’t you? I’ll leave it there as the nurse needs to change your bedpan.

It’s a bit strange, Brexit is the will of the masses and the wet fannies need to get over it but if someone you politically disagree with is democratically elected then screw the opinion of the masses.

Is it still “the will of the masses” though? It sounds like more and more people are realising that they have been sold a pup. If there was a referendum tomorrow how confident are you that Brexit would prevail again?

The US political regime, particularly in relation to the system for electing the President, is even less democratic than the UK's FPTP process. The Republicans in particular are actively gerrymandering State electoral rules to ensure they get the result they, and especially their sponsors, desire.

I think Faraway is commenting on Brexiteers and anti-Biden rhetoric, particularly in relation to the spleen being vented by one specific poster.

As we would have to adopt the euro, you are crazy to believe there would be a majority to rejoin the EU and as your leader, Starmer has ruled it out, you're left with all the rest of the nutters ignoring the democratic will of the people. Strange that the whiners make the most noise and the silent majority are just that.

On the day before the referendum vote Farage said that if Remain won 52/48 "the fight will go on". Would he have been a "nutter ignoring the democratic will of the people" ? Would you have been a "whiner" ? ( Certainly the second question gets an affirmative answer ).

And this coming from a dictionary definition of a keyboard warrior.

Round of applause for managing to complete an entire post that you've written all by yourself with nothing copied and pasted though. Hats off 👏 👏 👏

Evidently Kari Lake the GOP candidate in the Arizona gubernatorial election has stated that the only result she will accept is if she wins the governorship. Couldn't make it up.

Also MTG has gone on record today that the GOP will not pay a penny more to Ukraine if they win the House. Not policy, but scarily she may have a senior position after the mid-terms. Somehow over this side of the pond looks sane.

Just to trigger more abusive wankers on this thread, maybe they could explain why, given that Trump was apparently a big Putin supporter, he waited until Biden was in power to invade Ukraine?

Putin's invasion of Ukraine had so many other factors affecting it's timing, some international, others domestic. To put it simp!y, he wasn't ready 2 years ago, probably had something to do with that pandemic thing that seemed to be running around. There was almost certainly an issue with the preparedness of the Russian military - which assumption has been borne out by the realities we have observed during the conflict. By the time he was set to go the Chinese caused a further delay because they didn't want him disrupting the Winter Olympics.

Yet another topic that your simplistic World view fails to comprehend.

And talking of 'abusive wankers' - pot and kettle springs to mind.

MTG is about as fringe as it gets to be fair, I imagine her Republican colleagues hate her. I would beat my head against the desk if I worked with her.

What on earth makes a supposedly rational, educated  human being , well into his sixties, write this rubbish?  Arrogance? Delusions of grandeur?  Too much alcohol? Or Is he just mad?

Perhaps he should just be ignored. He is clearly mentally ill and is probably undergoing a course of treatment . Responding just feeds his already over inflated ego. Just laugh at him.

MTG is a vile human being and as thick as shit. How she got into public office is beyond comprehension. Although you could say the same about Cruz, Gaetz, McCarthy and of course the ultimate POS, trump.
