badgerx16 Posted 10 November, 2020 Share Posted 10 November, 2020 "Early in President Trump’s term, McSweeney’s editors began to catalog the head-spinning number of misdeeds coming from his administration. We called this list a collection of Trump’s cruelties, collusions, and crimes, and it felt urgent then to track them, to ensure these horrors — happening almost daily — would not be forgotten. This election year, amid a harrowing global health, civil rights, humanitarian, and economic crisis, we know it’s never been more critical to note these horrors, to remember them, and to do all in our power to reverse them." https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/the-complete-listing-so-far-atrocities-1-

Essentially accusing anyone who doesn't contribute of betraying their great leader. Basically no different from televangelists preying on vulnerable people with threats of eternal damnation if they don't hand over their dollars to the cause. Not Trump, who has also managed to lose the popular vote again by even more. You could feel the world breath a sigh of relief when the result was announced. Not because Biden won, but because this clown was out of the door at last. I noticed earlier that a regular poster here made a disparaging remark about Hilary Clinton. How anybody could think that Trump was somehow a more worthy candidate is beyond comprehension. Still, on the plus side, he proved beyond any shadow of doubt that he is exactly the type of narcissistic, stupid, divisive, self serving, lying, xenophobic bully that most sane people took him for before the last election. It has been so refreshing to see someone stand on that podium and not spew out Let’s Make America Great Again rhetoric. Whatever you think of Biden, at least he is a grown up who accepts that the US does not exist in a bubble. Another plus is that he obviously has Johnson pegged. America has a President who wears “big boy pants” again. Sadly we still have to wait a few years before we get someone similar in charge.

Because stray markings and other irregularities can cause Maricopa County tabulation machines to perceive an overvote, the tabulators are programmed to alert voters when that happens. A voter then has two choices: “Spoil” the ballot and request a replacement, or cast the original ballot with the warning that overvotes may not be counted. In a preliminary hearing held Monday, Roopali Desai, an attorney representing the Secretary of State’s Office, described the lawsuit as “an effort to find a problem when one does not exist.” She noted the Republican Party had set up a website to solicit affidavits from voters or poll workers — undermining, she said, “the entire process and the very hard work of the many many people who are administering the election … and the voters themselves” — and argued the relief sought by the Trump campaign may not be possible under state law. Thomas Liddy, representing Maricopa County, said the plaintiffs had offered “very little evidence” to support the idea of a systematic problem. Noting the lawsuit's claim that thousands of Trump votes could go uncounted, he countered: “Under that theory, you’d also see thousands of votes for the Democratic candidate” going uncounted. “There were 155,860 votes voted in person on Election Day (in Maricopa County),” Liddy continued. “Of those, the tabulator only identified 180 potential overvotes on the presidential line … 180, that’s it.” https://eu.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/arizona/2020/11/09/arizona-election-results-maricopa-county-challenge-involves-180-ballots/6229767002/
badgerx16 Posted 10 November, 2020 Share Posted 10 November, 2020 (edited) Isn't it strange that of all the states still counting, there don't appear to be any lawsuits pending in North Carolina or Alaska. If Trump is so bothered about the integrity of the election, surely NC and AK should also only be counting "legal ballots" ? Sheaf Saint Posted 11 November, 2020 Share Posted 11 November, 2020 It's all unravelling now. Turns out the disputed ballots in PA total no more than 10k, and Biden's lead is currently around 48k, so even if the GOP succeed in getting those ballots discounted, it won't make a shred of difference. The sworn affidavits from people claiming they were prevented from observing the count are mostly just people complaining they couldn't get as close as they wanted to due to Covid. So what does Donny do? Fires the 3 most senior people in the Department of Defense and puts a fence up around the Whitehouse. Be afraid America. Whatever comes next won't be pretty at all. Nordic Saint Posted 12 November, 2020 Share Posted 12 November, 2020 Trump is not going to leave the White House voluntarily. He is now in the process of replacing anyone in the administration who might accept that Biden has won the election. So who is president in January will come down to who the military takes its orders from.

They are playing along (for the moment) because they don't want to alienate his base. Oh and the Military will take orders from Biden as he will be inaugurated on 20th January, regardless if Donny is still throwing his temper tantrum. Trump will then be escorted from the building by Secret Service agents.
Fan The Flames Posted 12 November, 2020 Share Posted 12 November, 2020 Some in the Ruplican party will want to push the discrediting of the election result for as long as hard as they can. To set up a narrative that they can ride next time and the polarisation of the US will continue. Some Republicans I believe think they haven't got to moderate their offer but can rely on the energised base and find more voters not from the middle floating voter but from new voters, afterall there's another third of possible voters to mobilise. He needs the Trump base to stay angry and energized for the two crucial Georgia Senate runoff elections in January so they can retain control of the Senate.
