Meloni and Johnson both been huge supporters of Ukraine. Haven’t seen their responses to Trump’s pathetic parroting of Putin but would be interested in how they react to their populist buddy.

Melon was upset by the "anti Trump" atmosphere at the meeting of European leaders.

It's everyone else's fault for listening to a liar's lies and engaging with it.

Boris's biggest triumph was his diplomacy and support for Ukraine.  The "Boris wave" stuff has basically ended his political career so it's no surprise he's going Ukraine first.

All of his mistresses and alleged nine children hadn’t. Nor has the Child Maintenance Service.

Even he doesn’t seem to know how many so unlike Saints record defeat, it may even go into double figures https://uk.news.yahoo.com/boris-johnson-appears-confused-former-122633729.html

"The lunatics are running the asylum" is a well used statement but on this occasion is right on the money

It’s incredibly haphazard but in Musk’s case he’s well aware of the asset-stripping he and his team of acne-ridden munchkins are doing. It’s vile but the American electorate are going to have to wear it. They’ve not realised how many Trump voters in poor districts rely on Medicaid, which could be an issue when they finally realise because one thing that lot do save money aside/go robbing for is gun ownership. And plenty of them. When those voters refer to socialism and hating it, they’re not referring to themselves and their own historic provisions which will go under DOGE. Combined with inflation from tariffs pushing up their everyday goods it’s going to get ugly quite soon.

Main thing we can do is stop that shit spreading here and to Europe.

Virginia is possibly the State with the highest proportion of Federal employees among the workforce. The Republican Governor has said he fully supports what DOGE are doing, but the State is ready to give all necessary support to the thousands of staff losing their jobs.

It’ll fuck their economy, there’s very little Youngkin can do https://www.washingtontechnology.com/companies/2025/02/virginia-governor-pressed-support-federal-workers-and-contractors/403116/ at that scale to mitigate the level of lunacy. 27% of businesses in Fairfax County, the most affected region, rely on competing for federal tenders so private sector decimated, and 30% of federal role going held by military veterans.

Wasn't quite in the brochure was it?

Virginia state elections are in November https://thedispatch.com/article/virginia-governor-doge-spanberger/

With wafer thin majorities in the House and Senate, only takes a couple of rebel GOPs sticking up for their states and deadlock on the national budget, which affects all 50 states.

Tennessee learning the hard way as the UK has done that Xenophobia and nationalism are very expensive to your economy. £20bn tourism economy with Canada, #1 visitors to Nashville and 150k jobs locally depend on Canadian tourism, down the toilet with the national boycott Trump’s behaviour has caused.

Whoops, that MAGA vote felt good in the booth for a lot of those 150k but it bet it doesn’t now. Trump has done what he said he would and it’s impacted you.

Decorative only, a sop to the MAGA crowd. Whilst Kash Patel’s history and record is less than ideal, I was quite impressed with how he swatted away Musk and his McDonalds teenage weekend crew’s email to FBI staff on Saturday, which has put a big nail and puncture in DOGE’s tyres.

If he carries on like that I’ll be impressed.

Absolutely this. It must be collective though, all of Europe, Australia, NZ, and other sensible democracies. I think the next week or so is going to be very interesting though, and I think we'll see some unexpected alliances.

Don’t expect any calling out of Trump by Albanese, the Australian Prime Minister, or from Dutton, the  leader of the Opposition.   Australia acts like the 51st State of the USA.   The present Labour Government is too scared to rock the USA boat, apart from a few grumbles about tariffs, and the Opposition Leader, likely to be Prime Minister in a few months is spruiking the populist ideas straight from the Trump playbook.

NZ has an unpleasant little coalition which can have a populist flavour as well. Pity as often the most progressive western democracy. Hopefully the AFD result and Trump are their high watermarks and with the way MAGA is losing the wheels of its car rapidly already I suspect there may be peaks and throughs for the populists but consistency will be their issue.

New German Chancellor speaking well, like the sound of him.

I’m not of populist persuasion but immigration is a massive issue, and more so in Germany than here, and if the left leaning parties don’t acknowledge this they will be toast. Agree populists will come unstuck when trying to rule and become accountable for not delivering the milk and honey they promised. Politics is so depressing and all norms can now be challenged  - never thought in my lifetime you’d get a US president in bed with Putin with 77million US citizens happy with this outcome. And even here that lunatic Truss somehow came to power although thankfully that was ended before the mad cow could do more damage.

Yes, I think the new German Chancellor is right to refer to cutting the grass from under AFD’s feet, and that todays issues with the former East will be the 2030s in what was West Germany if there’s not serious action on freedom of movement economically vs asylum. Hopefully he can team up with the UK and lean hard on the EU to develop a more contemporary approach to counter extremism of the white and Islam varieties as well the impact of climate change pushing more people north.

What part of GOP plans and Project 2025 wasn’t blatantly obvious to GOP voters?

Most of it seemingly, when it impacts them and their families

They obviously believed Donnie when he said that he had not heard of Project 2025 and had no intention of following it. They missed Steve Bannon standing behind him operating the levers and strings.

Trump is now deciding which journalists he will allow to report from the White House so he can control ALL messaging to the public.

The direct opposite of free speech.

His supporters are going to find it tougher and tougher to defend him - only the truly deluded should attempt it.

Andrew Tate leaves Romania, yet this is somehow turned into a dig at Trump

Pathetically desperate from you

It is alleged that Trump has applied pressure to the Romanian authorities to lift the travel ban imposed by them whilst the Tates await trial on sex trafficking and rape charges. Additionally, Andrew Tate is friends with Donald Trump Jr, he also supported Trump's Presidential campaign, and one of the Tates' lawyers has just been appointed to the Department of Justice as liaison to the White House.

So obviously, nothing to link the Tates to Trump whatsoever.

Tony Blair was friends with Jimmy Savil. Is Blair therefore a sex offender? Jeez.

which was denied by the Romanian PM but of course that bit was ignored and let’s use it to hammer Trump instead.

There's a lot of smoke here so there could well be something in it. It's unsurprising that the Romanian PM would deny doing as he's told.

He would hardly admit to bowing to pressure from Trump. As I posted, it is "alleged", but the other points are facts.

There might be but there is also a lot of speculation. To immediately jump on it claiming Trump has a soft spot for other sex offenders is pretty obsessed and weird.

If anyone wants to book their stay at the Trump Gaza where they can canoodle on a sunbed with a war criminal while getting aroused over skimpily-dressed bearded ladies, then take a selfie with the giant golden statue of Donald built on a kids' graveyard, the bookings are being handled by holidaysforcunts.com.

Gotcha. Any suggestion of that sort is unnecessary. I was referring to the smoke in connection with lifting the travel ban.

That video was appalling. Alas I think it will happen. If there's a bonus, hopefully the Russians will flock there and leave other tourist areas for civilised people and Germans.

We know all about Tate thank you. No one is “supporting him” you oddball. he’s a fucking prick, but so are you and saying things like Trump has a soft spot for sex offenders based on a speculative article about Tate flying to the US is weird obsessive behaviour. You really don’t get it do you you think the voice of reason enlightening us all but you come across as weird, bitter, obsessed old man with a chip on your shoulder the size of Romney Marsh

Amusing to see your trying to pass off yet another Guardian opinion piece as fact though 😂

He certainly seems obsessed with him, like a lot of people he claims to be against
