New hybrid pitch being installed, the rubber track around the pitch is being replaced, new LED boards are being installed as well as new floodlights.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 4 June, 2018 Posted 4 June, 2018 Didn’t we only recently have new floodlights? Sure I remember them being really bright when they first put them in.
Matthew Le God Posted 4 June, 2018 Posted 4 June, 2018 Didn’t we only recently have new floodlights? Sure I remember them being really bright when they first put them in. Yep, installed LED floodlights in 2014... https://southamptonfc.com/news/2014-06-23/saints-make-history-with-led-floodlighting
pluto Posted 4 June, 2018 Posted 4 June, 2018 The floodlights on the underside of the stands are terribly positioned and a distraction to the eye. The installer had never done any football stadiums. Ultra HD required the upgrade, but at SMS they went over the top with a poor design. Reputable football stadium floodlight installers should only be used.
EkonOkereke Posted 4 June, 2018 Posted 4 June, 2018 I found the sound system very pitchy when I visited last season, surely this is a quick fix with today’s technology.
angelman Posted 4 June, 2018 Posted 4 June, 2018 I'm in row |JJ and have to ware a peaked cap otherwise I find the floodlights a bit of a distraction.
EkonOkereke Posted 4 June, 2018 Posted 4 June, 2018 Interesting news that Kruger wants to have half time and pre match shows like NHL. https://youtu.be/o7gxt0427LY
Give it to Ron Posted 4 June, 2018 Posted 4 June, 2018 I went down to stadium at weekend to get tickets to beer festival on Friday. The stench from the pitch was awful...they must have dug up the skate shirt that was buried there. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Whitey Grandad Posted 4 June, 2018 Posted 4 June, 2018 I'm in row |JJ and have to ware a peaked cap otherwise I find the floodlights a bit of a distraction. I’m in row O and I have problems too.

Pamplemousse Posted 4 June, 2018 Author Posted 4 June, 2018 Hehe! The rumour about the pompey shirt being there isn’t true. Are you suggesting that it's another Portsmyth? It's not like our neighbours to make up things with no evidence.
bpsaint Posted 5 June, 2018 Posted 5 June, 2018 Be nice if they replaced some of the old rusty grey cladding with some new red stuff - and then maybe look at replacing the seats in the bowl like they did at the Stadium Of Light as they’re really looking old and faded. I don’t know what material the seats at Wembley are made from but 11 years on it still looks as good as new.
70's Mike Posted 5 June, 2018 Posted 5 June, 2018 wish the headlines were about players on the pitch and not the pitch itself
scotty Posted 5 June, 2018 Posted 5 June, 2018 Can we get "a bad workman blames his tools" straight out of the way? Thank you.
rooney Posted 5 June, 2018 Posted 5 June, 2018 I found the sound system very pitchy when I visited last season, surely this is a quick fix with today’s technology. Not so quick for the Saints experts as they have been trying to get this right for years and still have not succeeded.
John Boy Saint Posted 5 June, 2018 Posted 5 June, 2018 The floodlights on the underside of the stands are terribly positioned and a distraction to the eye. Reputable football stadium floodlight installers should only be used. Think when they went in LED was a new toy even for experienced stadium floodlight installers(we were one of the first to install it), and it behaved differently in its projection onto the pitch with sharper edges at the edge of the spread hence the appearance of “let’s stick another cluster in here and one over there. If the stadium had been designed with floodlight mountings on the roof like at the Olympic Stadium none of us would have noticed them in our eyes
RedArmy Posted 5 June, 2018 Posted 5 June, 2018 This is the third time they've had LED floodlights installed. They were re-done a couple of years ago for UHD.
adrian lord Posted 5 June, 2018 Posted 5 June, 2018 What, no mention in the article of the 18000-seat extension taking us to 50000 capacity, and at a stroke making us the undisputed giants of south coast football?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 5 June, 2018 Posted 5 June, 2018 What, no mention of monkey chicken petting zoo? Any stadium refurb thread is not worth reading without incontrovertible proof of this. In other news, I think the premium seats in the Kingsland should get padded seats. Just saying.
Toadhall Saint Posted 5 June, 2018 Posted 5 June, 2018 wish the headlines were about players on the pitch and not the pitch itself Ditto
