VectisSaint Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Anyone listening to the 3rd Half. Did I hear right that Dave was thrown out of (asked to leave) the Mick Channon suite, even though many of the people there were his guests. He is absolutely fuming about it, quite rightly. This Club under Lowe really is sinking to new depths if this is true. I am embarrassed to be associated with this Club under its current regime, a legend like David Armstrong thrown out of the corporate areas. FFS.
saint lard Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 David Armstrong was asked to leave corporate Hospitality today, even though it was his guests he was chatting with. No explanation was given. He has stated that if he was asked to do anymore hospitality events he would decline. He is furious. This is however, only one side of the argument i admit.
Greenridge Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Would be interesting to hear the full facts behind this episode. I wonder how the Club will spin this one?
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Presumably Dave has not 'followed the party line' with comments on the radio? I really wonder who asked for him to be moved on? I can guess because Dave's having another blast now. It stinks. In fact everything about 'that person' is now malodorous.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 I heard he tied Lowes laces together last time he was at SMS. If true he deserved to get chucked out - tying laces together is immature and also a health and safety issue.
offix Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Seems a great illustration of Ru**rt's "brown shirt" tactics from old. Thanks much Mr. Quisling for bringing back that f@cking @ss!
saint lard Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 By a millisecond. Back on subject.,Armstrong did not seem happy with the way he was treated at all, does appear a little strange if he was ejected the way he states.
offix Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Would be interesting to hear the full facts behind this episode. I wonder how the Club will spin this one? What would you like to know: He was in there, he was "asked to leave". Disgraceful!
Greenridge Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 What would you like to know: How about, why is there 3 threads on the same topic?
lambtiss Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 What would you like to know: He was in there, he was "asked to leave". Disgraceful! A village somewhere must be missing an idiot
Greenridge Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 A village somewhere must be missing an idiot Sorry?
Pokerchampion Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Big Time Joke , Who is this idiot who asked David to leave , sum jumped up joey who probably didnt even know he was one of the best attacking midfielders this club has seen . Absolute disgrace just like the pic of big Mac being taken down in the board room and replaced with a train . D I S C R A C E F U L L
AwaySaint1 Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 The picture that Donny rovers gave us:rolleyes:
aintforever Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 The picture that Donny rovers gave us:rolleyes: To think we took down a picture of a Saints legend and replaced it with one from those northern c**ts.
harvey Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 I heard it, he was a tad ****ed off to say the least
derry Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 I heard David Armstrong's account, the people he was visiting weren't his guests, they were people he knew, and went in to see. Rubbish decision by the jobsworth.
badgerx16 Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 those northern c**ts. Oi !!! Kindly moderate your language, and your regionalist prejudices. ( Mind you, they are from the 'wrong side' of the country )
offix Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Armstrong just said that fans should "not go to matches, to make the club think" He is of course right, but it is very sad that even loyal ex players and people in his position as radio commentators are getting to that point
saint lard Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 He has also stated this episode in full will definatley be in the press.
exit2 Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 He has also stated this episode in full will definatley be in the press. I bet you the club will deny all knowledge and say it will discipline the person concerned. I then hope that person comes forward to say he was told from aboce to ask him to leave. This smells very much when Lowe dragged Graham Hiley in to the fans forum to say that was written was all Hileys doing and nothing to do with Lowe!
Topcat Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Maybe the staff think that we are a train company?
spyinthesky Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Doncaster gave us a wonderful picture of a train when we won at the Keepmoat earlier in the season which has pride of place in the Board Room. What do you think that our Board (presumably missing Lowe & Wilde at the end of the game) gave Donnie Directors in return? Three easy points? A picture of a sinking ship? A book on how to win friendsand influence people?
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 I heard he tied Lowes laces together last time he was at SMS. If true he deserved to get chucked out - tying laces together is immature and also a health and safety issue. Right now I'd settle for tying the laces extremely tight. Round Lowe's throat. . . . . . . figuratively speaking
Viking Warrior Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Its a sad sad day when you see fans fighting. but Im not suprised I was expecting this for some time now As for Dave Armstrong. I thing he was being a bit disingenuous about what ever happen re him being chucked out of the hospitality suite. He saidf he was asked to leave by a steward which he promptly changed to being thrown out. And kept on about it on the radio at the same time as throwing digs in about the chairman during the second half. he should have have been more discrete with his views about what ever happened not balling out over they airways as if somebody had stolen his dummy. Theres a professional way to deal with this situation and a childish way. Sadly Dave took the childish way . He was clearly intimating to the listeners that it was lowe who had asked him to leave. a man that was even at the game today. Dave you were one of my all time favourite players don't get embroiled in the club politics. by doing so you are becoming as bad as the current board and know better than them

Do you think that he would have been "thrown out"?

He gives up his time to help the club for free and they ask him to leave? Armstrong, one of the clubs greatest players is asked to leave whilst idiots like Wilde and Lowe who don't even support the club can do what they want. Absolute disgrace and I too would be extremely annoyed.
slickmick Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Rupes not there, maybe listening on the radio ? Heard Daves views and phoned to order him out ?
Weston Saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Is Armstrong giving his time free to Sainst? I thought he was being paid by the radio station! Was Armstrong invited by the club to go into Hospitality? Did he pay to go into hospitality like everyone else? He was a great player for us and should be treated with respect but you just can't walk in wherever you want without asking or paying.

If the club had any sense they would allow ex players (especially ones like Dave) into the hospitality. Could you imagine if it was someone like MLT who was asked to leave because he didn't pay! The principal is certainly the same. I cannot see any way that Dave's presence could be seen as a negative thing (unless he said something he shouldn't have whichis a different matter.) Anyway on the radio Dave said if he was "asked to do any hospitality stuff" in the future he would decline so that makes me think that he was asked by someone.

Mole Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 This is what our club has come to under Lowe. I bet Lowe specifically issued the order. David Armstrong probably said something Lowe didn't like and it'd be typical Lowe to order his expulsion.
um pahars Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Is Armstrong giving his time free to Sainst? I thought he was being paid by the radio station! Was Armstrong invited by the club to go into Hospitality? Did he pay to go into hospitality like everyone else? He was a great player for us and should be treated with respect but you just can't walk in wherever you want without asking or paying. So if Matty has got a backstage pass and is working for SKY on a commentary game, are you teling me that it would be fair game to ask him to leave one of the hospitality suites if he walked in there with a chat with some friends at some point during the afternoon??? I might be wrong and it might just be an over zealous steward (ala Keegan and that old duffer on the gate up the Dell), but I have an inkling there is more to this than meets the eye. I'll do some digging to find out what the Club's line is on this one.

Why not ?...........if I were in hospitality (which I couldn't afford anyway) and Mr Armstrong came in, I'd be chuffed to bits..........what's the problem ?

Firstly the radio station is nothing to do with Saints. They sold it. Secondly, he apparently went in to the Mike Channon Suite to talk to some friends, and thirdly, as I understand it, he wasn`t actually recieving any "Hospitality" as he had just gone in to speak to people. Why should he pay for doing this??
Viking Warrior Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Thanks Steve It would be good to see the other side of the story. It would be indeed be a bad day for the club if Dave was speaking with some old friends and was just told to leave. That is out of order and the steward needs to be spoken to but I suspect there is more to this story than meets the eye. By the way Dave Armstrong works for radio Hampshire not the club. but my point was he shouldnt have not added fuel to the fire about blabbing re his alledged treatment. If Dave was employed by the club , the last thing any employee would do would be to constantly criticise his bosses. that con be construed as gross misconduct and a sackable offence. As he isnt employed by the club in any capacity I guess he can say what he likes providing it isnt libellous etc

Weston Saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Some of you have clearly missed the point. I appear to be wasting my time on this subject.
Mole Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Some of you have clearly missed the point. I appear to be wasting my time on this subject. Your point was noted and dismissed. Dave Armstrong is a an ex Saints and as such should be treated with respect by the club. If he wanted to pop into hospitality where there were 5 tables (2 of which had friends of his on them) to say hello then he should be allowed to do so.
SaintRobbie Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Rupert wasn't there. I am prepared to stick my neck out and say...Lowe will never be seen at SMS again.
Viking Warrior Posted 17 January, 2009 Posted 17 January, 2009 Why Saintrobbie I am prepared to stick my neck out and say...Lowe will never be seen at SMS again. Hve you done him in and buried him in a secret location by any chance? Sad thing is Robbie, even if Lowe did leave now. its going to take years to heal the rift between the fans. Im sure there are a small minority of fans are revelling in the situation we now find our selfs in. No point being abusive to me S, your on my ignore list
