There was always a high probability that the outcome of the game would be determined by an ex- saints player. We should be proud of that.

Not the first time he's scored the winning goal in a Champions League final either.

Need to get him back here really, competition for Redmond.

was nice to see an ex Saint destroy Liverhampton :)

it's the irony i love, Scousehampton purchase six saints players in recent years, yet the one they did not buy butt fxxks them in the C.L. Final, i love it.

I can't believe that the fact that Liverpool actually "lost" the CL final is still being discussed and debated. On the news headlines last night no less, now the excuse would be that Karius was concussed. Get over it, you lost. They do get their "fair" share of the overseas tv money. How can demanding more than others, actually be constituted as "fair"..........?

If they don’t like it then the six of them can go and form their own league. Greed and money has ruined English football enough as it is.

I see he’s also spouting nonsense in today’s Times that the three relegated clubs receive more money than the top three teams. Only two happy for Liverpool, Spurs and ManU to have the bottom three spots in the EPL......

If they did leave it wouldn't be good for Saints, income would drop significantly which would impact all areas of the club.

Like someone commented on the article , It was the big 2 until Liverpool dropped out of it then it became the big 4 until Liverpool started dropping out of that so it became the big 6 ! What would it be ifor they started dropping out of the top 6 , The big 10 ? He needs to wind his neck in its not like he's splashing the cash there !

Yeh it would be terrible having a chance at actually winning things for once !

It would be the same for all the others outside the ‘big 6’ so wouldn’t matter one little bit.

I think it would be a fantastic league without them in it.

The 'big 6' can f off to their own league as far as I'm concerned, leave the rest of us to it and see how long the gravy train lasts then. It's the competitive nature of the Premier League and the 'lower ranked' teams that has made it the success it is.

That league kind of exists already now though

Whoever finishes 7th is that champion of the minileague that basically exists now.

At end of the day the top 6 are bringing in the revenue for everyone else- then in turn the revenue in general means that as fans we see higher quality players which is bridging that competitive gap very marginally.

Whether he was concussed or not the assessment was done at a Boston hospital, one at which John Henry is a trustee.

Just saying....

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/hapless-loris-karius-was-concussed-during-champions-league-final-say-doctors-xjld759q9 (paywall)

He was advised by Liverpool to visit specialists Dr Ross Zafonte and Dr Lenore Herget at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on May 31, when he underwent scans. As well as examining Karius, footage of his clash with Ramos was reviewed.

In a statement last night, Dr Zafonte, chief of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Massachusetts General Hospital, said: “After carefully reviewing game film and integrating a detailed history — including his reported present and immediate post-contact subjective symptoms — physical examination and objective metrics, we have concluded that Mr Karius sustained a concussion during the match.

“At the time of our evaluation, Mr Karius’s principal residual symptoms and objective signs suggested that visual spatial dysfunction existed and likely occurred immediately following the event.

“Additional symptomatic and objectively noted areas of dysfunction also persisted. It could be possible that such deficits would affect performance.”

John W Henry, the Liverpool owner, is a trustee of Massachusetts General Hospital.

All the extra money does is inflate player wages and attract more foreign players. I would much rather see less money, more English players and a more competitive league where teams like Saints stand a decent chance. It would also benefit the national side.

That concussion excuse is laughable, they really are sore losers.

That must be why none of his teammates went to console hime after the game, in case concusion is contageous.
