Mark Hughes

I think perhaps the main cause for the angst is that it's not just the "usual ill-informed posters" that have suggested/hinted that the Hughes announcement would be done and dusted by now but that the usual club media organs have also implied/stated as such since the end of the season. Even dear old Ralph was dropping not so subtle hints that it was a rubberstamping exercise a couple of weeks ago.

But that said, whilst I'm curious as to why there is a percieved delay, I'm not about to join the mouth frothing brigade any time soon :)

Im not stressing, MH is currently still under contract till end of season ( which is not the same date as the last game of the season, officially its the end of this month ( 1 day before the transfer window opens). I heard he is defo signing, I would like to think we will spend quit a bit seeing how badly we have performed this season, maybe waiting for transfer market to officially open on the 1st to announce MH and a signing at same time ( Maybe Promes, maybe some one else ) .

Aside from Gao, I don’t think there is anyone at the influence level at the club who is actually a businessman, hence the dithering by committee, Les Read sports coach worked at the FA wrote a book, Ralph Kruger sports coach wrote a book, Ross Wilson stumbled into football at Falkirk, found himself a role on the coat tales of the game. None of them from what I can tell have had a position in business where a decisive descision needs to be taken, striking while the iron is hot.

The Coates family binned of Sparky early on when things weren’t quite right up at Stoke, Saints dithered for 2 months more, they binned of Lambert as soon as the season was done, in the modern competitive world of betting Bet 365, their main business, they can’t shilly shally of a descision that keeps their business at the top of their game.

The dildo brothers at West Ham, they maybe objects of mirth due to the source of their wealth, but in reality the pair of them are business men who have made a lot of money selling titilation (you can imagine there is a fine line between a bit of naughty and pornography) Moyes kept them up, they felt Moyes wasn’t right to move forward with binned him off and pulled a rabbit out of the hat appointing Pellegrini on a “pay cut”.

We haven’t had a cold hard face business man at the upper escelons of the club since Cortese was binned off, and before anyone says “what about Ms Liebherr she took on her late fathers businesses” Cortese was also removed from the board at Male the company Markus built and made his money, a comment to come out of that company after Cortese left was that it had gone from a company with drive to a company pretty much just floating along directionless.

So in reality it’s little wonder it’s taking so long, we have an owner who bought a pretty bangle, with a board who have in reality never actually made true hardfaced decisive business decision in their working lives. Plenty of chat but nobody putting their balls on the table.

Surely every football manager on the planet knows that if he joins SFC he will not have a shed load of money to spend on transfers. Mark Hughes will know that better than most given the time he has spent in the Premiership. If the rumours are true then more fool him if he thinks they are suddenly going to give him a huge wedge to play with. We are not the only club who have to sell to buy. Even the "mighty" Spurs have to balance their books. If this is the sticking point then it would seem very odd that Hughes is prepared to gamble away a job he supposedly wants on a point that he isnt going to win. It is more likely that there is no rush as everything is going to plan and the club are relaxed about when the official announcement is made.

Or not.........

Surely there must be a genuine ITK who has a little more knowledge on the situation?

I wouldn't have been overly concerned if it hadn't been for the classic mouthpieces of the club letting us know the deal was imminent.

As has been said on here many times over on this thread there wouldn't have been an overwhelming clamour of appreciation for Mark Hughes at the beginning of last season but we are where are and as it stands it seems the players have responded very well to MH so it makes sense to give him the job whilst we consolidate.

Any reluctance from Mark Hughes part at this moment should be seen as rather worrying because from Ralph and Mark - there was nothing other than to suggest this was a formality and if this is no longer the case then it means that we're moving the goalposts (excuse the pun).

MH won't be offered a better opportunity than this in the near future so surely he'd be chomping at the bit to get this over the line...

That being said, he might be on holiday, this is all done and dusted and they're going to announce asap and we're all losers for spending time on here panicking when we should be at work..

Cheers then.

you should know the form. We will hold back naming the manager until the window is about to close or get someone who is desperate to get a job in the higher profile. They wll then come in and say we don't need anymore players etc blah blah

What utter BS.

Everyone else is getting their managers appointed before p*ssing off into the sun.

Just goes to show what a p*ss-pot outfit we've become.

Apparently West Ham laid on private jets to get the MP paper work sorted.

So it's not BS. It's just our directors are a lot more comfortable than the Hammers directors.

It is, for this season only cause of the world cup or some rubbish, but normally it would have been the 1st of June which is default transfer window start date and 31st of may is the official end of season eg MH contract will be up until 31st May.

Ahhh, that makes more sense.
Not really, because they told their favoured journalists there would be an announcement early this week, so clearly something has caused the delay which has come up more recently.

The start of a new song?

It's not as catchy.

Les Reed went to Kiev,

to have a money party.

Doing deals with scousers,

to sell Alex McCarthy.

He sold them all our players,

it almost sent us down.

He's never going anywhere,

the useless f*cking clown.

Yes was my bad, I forgot the clubs agreed for the transfer window to be closed before the prem season started, so clubs didn't have to put up with players forcing moves and be given to little time to get a replacement in before games start.

So window got moved forward ( Clubs voted in favour of this ) cause FIFA say window needs to be open for 12 weeks, I just totally forgot to add the time to when the windows open

" Premier League clubs in England voted to end the summer window on the Thursday before the start of the season - on August 9 in 2018, instead of August 31. Because FIFA demands the window must be open for 12 weeks, the window will open around May 17, shortly after the final games of the season on May 13. Clubs will be able to sell players until August 31 but not buy replacements after the deadline of August 9.

Although, in England, transfers between clubs in the same league can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played, many transfers will not be completed until 1 July because many players' contracts expire on 30 June. International transfers into the English leagues (including the Premier League) cannot be made until the window has opened on 17 May. Outside the transfer window, a club may still sign players on an emergency basis, usually if they have no goalkeeper available. Special dispensation from their competition's governing body, for example the Premier League, is required. The transfer window restriction does not apply to clubs below the National League division.[17][28]

If the last day of a transfer window is on a weekend, the deadline can be extended to the following Monday at the request of those involved for business reasons.[29] The first shift of the deadline since its inception took place in summer 2008, when the deadline was extended by 24 hours to fall on Monday 1 September at midnight.[30][31] The transfer deadline in England was similarly extended to 5 pm 1 September 2009, due to the August Bank Holiday ""

So my bad on that. But I am still not worried, I don't think things can get much worse than the season we just had, I cant see the new owner allowing it either.

If indeed there is any truth in the rumour that Hughes has been told he has to sell to raise funds before he can buy then what a perfect cop out for Reed & Kreuger. They can claim that they were not responsible for selling their dud buys (Boufal, Carillo) or indeed our best players (Bertrand, Tadic, Cedric) who are the only ones likely to be of any interest elsewhere. Hopefully Hughes is not that daft.

Whats the problem with selling to buy? Seriously I'm the only one who would quite happily see the back of several of the current 25 man squad. I'd happily have a bit more quality and a bit less quantity in the squad.

There is no problem with getting rid of players but if we HAVE to sell to buy it just means another net loss in players. It also means we have been blatantly lied to by Kruger who has said more than once that all the money we get from VVD will get invested.

Exactly. What we're saying at the moment, is that someone is pocketing some of the VVD money, we're not putting anything in of this years money, and we've got to sell to bring in money to spend.

If it was £75m + anything we bring in then fair enough, ca net £20m spend of this years money.

Other than a random tweet and some people claiming their mate at the stadium says so, there is no proof this is the case. We won't know the truth of it until after the transfer window closes.
