Not sure which of those comments is the most looney...

I think he's got a fair point about Trippier, he has been class, can you name a better right back at the tournament? Or anyone who's delivery/crossing has been as good?

Compare his performances to the massive hype surrounding Kimmich and how poor he was.

We should go for Yerry Mina

Is there anyone still saying we should have gone all out against Belgium.

Sweden or Brazil, let me think. Which one do we want?

When I I’ve got a bit of time I’ll look back through some posts and see who the idiots were

Perhaps that is where we have been going wrong all these years? Maybe we should have been looking at throwing certain matches in order to proceed? As for Brazil or Sweden, have you stopped to think how we struggle to break down strongly defensive teams and maybe, just maybe, a team that comes at us might just leave some space for our poorly formed attack to get some chances? None of us knows if we would have played better last night if we had put out a strong team against Belgium. Those rested certainly didnt look any fresher but who knows, with another game under their belts playing in the strongest team, maybe they would have won it without the penalty lottery?

Trippier has been exceptional. Not sure how or why you would argue against that.

So much hate for the team on here. Its the first time I've enjoyed watching England since the 2002 W/C, and I wont let you buzzkills ruin it for me ffs!

I disputed him being world class and he clearly is not, in my opinion at least...

I don`t hate anyone let alone a group of men i do not know personally.

As a team we have been ok but that has been against opposition who we should be beating.

I would have enjoyed it more last night if we actually created some chances but i cannot remember Ospina making a save in play..

Beating Tunisia and Panama is nothing to get over excited about imo but if you do fair enough

So hypocritical, when you won't have Saints ever being criticised, even when deserved and call people trolls if they are negative.

People are positive because we are in a QF of a World Cup and finally won on pens.

Pickford is looking like a real penalty shoot out asset to me, the guy was like a grasshopper last night leaping across the goal. If he guesses correctly he's always got a fair chance of making a save.

I can't help but think Sweden is going to come down to a shootout and with Pickford the human grasshopper and the fact that England's confidence will have been boosted after last night's shoot out it may be the way to get through.

I don't think it will be a thriller for the neutrals, very few chances but with what's at stake and with few scoring opportunities I can see it getting very tense as the game goes on.

Still coming to terms that we won a penalty shoot out at a world cup, thats an achievement in itself.

Last nights performance was fairly good if you analyse Colombia's "game" plan, they didn't turn up to play football at all. Fair play for our young players keeping there heads, most wouldnt with the amount of ****e Colombia put there way.

We conceded the goal from one mistake and Walker having a moment we were fairly decent at the back. It's hard to say how good in attack we are when you have to build up play against a team that has zero interest in attacking you, but there were glimmers of positive signs.

Sweden will be such a different game, none of that horrible cheating nonsense we saw last night.

Confident we should make the Semi's. Got a funny feeling we will play Russia

How can you post like this, when you criticise people saying EXACTLY the same things about Southampton.

Seriously, not doing yourself any favours here.

To win we have to create chances not rely on defenders preference to the "sport" of wrestling.

I cannot remember Ospina making a save bar the shootout...

Final will be

France V Croatia

To be fair, Kane would have had a free header if he hadn't been hauled down

Deli Ali has been crud all season whereas Sterling has had a great season at City but doesn't look the same player for England.

There's a difference between playing as a striker for England and lurking at the back post for tap ins at Man City.

Sterling's game is about movement and speed. At City, they create chaos in the final third and carve open a lot of straightforward finishes. It suits him.

For England, his poor touch and technique gets shown up as he ends up crowded out by opposition defenders quite easily.

If we were playing a different system he'd be more effective. As a second "striker" I'd much sooner have Rashford.

Against Sweden, I'd be tempted to change the midfield shape slightly from one pivot and two runners behind a front two to a platform of two midfielders (Henderson and RLC) and two runners (Rashford, Lingard) behind Kane. Last night the link between midfield and attack wasn't there.

I'd also bring Rose or Delph (paternity leave FFS, why is he in the squad?) in for Young as we got much more penetration down the right via Trippget than we are getting witj Young down the left.

One thing to consider is Sweden will see Saturday as an excellent chance of reaching the semi final, just as much as England.

They are solid and structured and will spoil. They also have tremendous team spirit.

I'm calling this a 50/50 game of few chances. England to win in ET.

Agreed.

They will see we have conceded in every match and that if they don't foul us in the box there's a good chance we won't score a goal.

I particularly like Pickford's technique of running forward 10 yards and punching the ball as it leaves the taker's boot, as he did with the 5th penalty.

Still, if the officials allow it then fair play to him.

We Swedes looking forward to the game on sat - you are big favourites and IF - a big IF we should beat England it would be such a big thing for Swedish football it would be unbeliveble huge for us. At least I hope we will not see one singe player doing a VAR sign to the ref or trying to do a Ronaldo and get penalties by diving. That would just be embarrising ; )

England did create some chances last night, Colombia also made a number of last ditch tackles and blocks. It wasn't our best performance but when you are playing against that type of nonsense it is always going to be difficult. Felt that the switch for Dier was the right one at the time. I also thought Henderson and Sterling played well last night. I get the feeling that there are some players that fans will always see the 'bad' in. Sterling consistently ran back to collect and move the ball on, offered himself wide to try and stretch the Colombian back line etc. Yes his touch was frustrating but he kept trying and kept going. Henderson was everywhere in the first 75, breaking up play - linking between Kane and Maguire/Stones. I was a little disappointed by Alli going forward, but again he seemed to be keeping Quintero quiet (or that was his job anyway).

The key for Saturday is getting an early goal. If England can get a lead, I think our pace and counter attacking style could rip the Swedes apart. They will probably sit in, be compact and organised and try and get something on set-pieces. Despite the penalties awarded to England in the competition so far, we do seem to be on the wrong end of a few VAR decisions still. No red card last night; the possibility of a second pen for tackle on Lingard. (it was a close one and I am not saying it should have been given; rather it could have). I am happy with what the lads have done this tournament, it would feel disappointing if it all ends on Saturday - mainly because I feel that we have enough to get to the final. Winning the thing would be incredible because Brazil, Belgium and France are all excellent teams. Of the three, I would actually fancy our chances against Brazil - they have got away with some very dodgy defending so far; Mexico opened them up countless times the other night but made the wrong choice; played a poor pass. France and Belgium seem to have threats all over and a flexibility which I think we would struggle with.

On to Saturday - a win and this country will go into meltdown.

Moving on to Sweden...

Can the team now advance to making some chances from playing attacking football and not rely on WWF moves for goals

Wtf is this nonsense, you can only play whats infront of you. Colombia didn't exactly give us the time or space to make chances, and when we did we either missed or they cheated. The games where we have created chances, we score 2 and 6.

Think you need to give them a break, most of us playing in that game last night would've lost our heads and got sent off.

Sweden will sit back, no doubt, as they know we have more threat going forward, like colombia had worked out, but I think we are capable of breaking them down or scoring from a corner/set piece.

I don't give a **** if we win the whole thing on WWE wrestling move penalties, nor should you. Wins a win.

They are of the exact same quality as Colombia, minus the foul play. So no won't be easy. They are not going to be open and expansive, attack all game, they will sit in and wait for the one or two chances they will get. We can beat them, we have Kane.

I get excited when England are in a QF even if we had beaten, Hedge End Rangers, Isle of White and the North Pole, try it, let your hair down and have fun.

Feel that pain. But this feels different, we wouldn't have won that shootout last night with the old mob.

imagine Shrek skippering our lot last night. Probably would have sparked up his fag before swearing at England fans after ballooning his penalty
