Captain, please.

I wouldn't be adverse to this. He gets stick from some on here for some reason, but when I watch him play I don't see the same faults. I just see a guy give 100% every game, pure effort. I know, it's not all about effort and that should be a given, but he is decent in the air and can tackle, he's also a handful in the oppositions box at set pieces too. People say that he has a mistake in him but that's true of any player you care to mention. Though I love the guy, thought Bertie was a little quiet as captain, I'd give Maya a go.

That Japanese dressing room doesn't surprise me at all. I used to work for Japanese and they are a proud race who are still full of respect for others. On the pitch, they might not have been the best, but by God they are a unified team. And it was appreciated as well. I had an email exchange with a Japanese contact and he wrote "As our team did their best, fans are so satisfied".

So, whats everyones feeling on tonight?

I think we will revert back to England of old, when in theory we should just have a go. England to score first and lose by one goal.

Hate to say it, I'm not confident either. We haven't played any quality yet, smacked 5 past a poor side which can give a false sense of confidence. I'm fearing a revert to type and suffering a close fought defeat - next plane home.

It's a hard match to call. I think we will play at our level (I think this group is relatively unencumbered mentally), which is ok but not great, so it depends whether Colombia turn up or not. If the Colombian attackers play to their potential I would expect them to score at least twice against our poor backline.

Phil Nelville, Alex Scott and Jermaine Jeanas on the bbc. You can tell which side of the draw Switzerland-Sweden is on.

#dreamteam

Not heard P.Neville much this World Cup. Does he still put on the horse whispering voice when at a game commentating?

He’ll be moaning about their Kamikaze defending for the Belgian winner next.

Ridiculous, asinine comment. Same as comparing Thomas Mueller to a Nazi. Idiot.

Someone making sweeping generalisations as to what a respectful nation they are. You probably are happy to airbrush it from history Suspect you have never talked to any survivors but as a nation they shown capable of severe brutality and cruelty.

Btw fans also collected litter in the stands which might give you a bigger hard on.

Yes but the brutality was done very efficiently!

England 1 Colombia 1

England lose 4-2 on penalties

Very understandable prediction given our appalling history in that respect. However, by all accounts Southgate is taking penalty practice very seriously, unlike the previous generation of moronic English managers. Not that it guarantees anything if it gets to a shootout, but I think this time we may actually have a chance.

we will win.

This is not Rooney's england and now that lump has moved on (along with others) we seem a different (better) side

Kane is miles better and he will score or at least be involved in a goal for us

3-1 to England

That's nothing. If it had been the scousers, they would have left the place spotless - fixtures and seats included.
