Whitey Grandad Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Jan Notacloo has got to go now. Shapeless, gutless, clueless. neither side could defend and neither could score to begin with. I didn't see any offside for the first and for the second their player walked the ball into the net with two of ours giving him a close escort. The substitutions were the weirdest that I have ever seen and totally destroyed our shape. This is getting beyond a joke. FOR THE LOVE OF SAINTS SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING NOW. mcjwills Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 We were inept, incompetent, and definitely second best to Doncaster today. AS I've stated before I've got more chance of a threesome with Kylie Minogue than us avoiding League 1 next season. The worst thing I'm not even frurious anymore, I have had the love of my team and the game knocked out of me that I am just indifferent when we lost AGAIN !!! alpine_saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 I had a flashback to 2006 today, the third week in January, as we folded to an ordinary Ipswich team. That day, the fans decided that enough was enough and vented their fury at Rupert Lowe. Three years later almost to the day, it's exactly the same again. I thought about every major decision that Lowe has made for this club since 2004 as I was walking back across the Itchen Bridge tonight, and arrived at the conclusion (albeit with the benefit of hindsight) that he's got every single one of them wrong. Sturrock, Wigley, Redknapp, Burley, returning to the club, Pearson and Poortvliet. All crucial for our success. All WRONG. He must be forced out again somehow, and this time it MUST be with no prospect of a return. I honestly hope he's banned from the stadium for what he's done to this club, today being the final straw. That was so far from acceptable it's untrue. A poor coach sending out a team with an attack blunted by having players on the wrong side. The so-called 'world's top 50 young players' forward deciding that with two goals in two league games he doesn't have to try any more. A switched-off defence at the start of the second half. Panic substitutions and a formation change to try and rectify things. Our fans have strong emotions aroused by this club. But fighting with each other has got to be the lowest point and is indicative of how badly Lowe and Wilde have fouled up. They'll be donning tin hats, huddling down in the bunker and digging deep into their own pockets for some website PR plants, no doubt. It's got to the stage where they could bring some unity to the fans by simply resigning, selling their shares and walking away. If, however, fan protests it has to be, then the message should be clear: LOWE AND WILDE OUT - THIS TIME FOR GOOD. Good post.

70's Mike Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 First half we played ok, kept giving the ball away though, Surman was a waste of space today, too lightweight. Second Half we just never appeared, The bloke was in an offside position but it came off BWP so doesnt matter. BWP and Holmes never ran, or stayed out wide. AS far as BWP AND HOLMES are concerned that must be the managers fault , if you play them on the wrong sides they have to cut in to stay on their only foot

jasonbenali Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Started the match well in control, but as ever chance after chance gets fluffed and the opposition start slowly coming back into it. Donny's was a lucky goal and after that we didn't know how to deal with their packed defence. I think Jan just created a new football formation - 3-2-3-2, none of whom knew where they were supposed to be playing. What a shambles and yet we could have drawn had BWP not fluffed that header in injury time. sidthesquid Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 My player ratings for what it's worth Davies - 8.5 - no chance with goals, made some vital saves James - 6.5 - okay, got forward well, always seemed exposed when they attacked (mind you the lino in the 1st half missed at least four offsides) Molyneux - 5.5 - not great but not terrible, he's cheap, young & will do a job Perry - 5 - looked leggy at times, but solid Saeijs - 7 - like the look of him Holmes -5 - why play him on the wrong side. He looked like a left winger playing on the right Surman & Shneiderlin - 5 - neither imposed themselves on the opposition but had some good moments Wright-Phillips - 3 - back to his clueless worst. (One of his many failings is that he never anticipates, never makes runs for the possibility of a pass or a mistake.) McGoldrick - 4.5 - guilty of the above also, but did work hard without ever looking like he'd get a goal Saganowski - 5 - only gets the extra half point for the goal, but looked pretty ineffective until then Lallana - 6 - still looks a classy player, but still needs to make it count Smith - 6 - tried to be positive Poortvliet - 4- Brave substitutions but why play Holmes & BWP on the wrong wings Team - 3 - Our team as a whole is yet again less than the sum of its individual parts Fans - 2 - Get behind the team & stop fighting each other, it's embarrassing
eelpie Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 This is the lowest point Saints have every been in recent atimes. Sod knee jerk reactions, the proof is in the pudding. Every part of the club is out of it's depth. Today is the lowest point I have experienced since our relegation season 52/53. Then we won five matches at home. This season I cannot see us winning at home again having lost against Forest and Donny. Inept coaching by JP. Disastrous strategy by loser Lowe. corky morris Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Just another very sad day under Lowes stewardship. What an utter disgrace the man is. JP wont resign. He paid his way out of Holland & wont leave lightly. Lowe wont admit he is wrong. So sad, so very sad. Michael Wilde has an opportunity to turn again. Please Mr Wilde - rid us of this cancer called Rupert Lowe. I wanted to give JP 12 months, but we simply cant go on like this. He is to far out of his depth. 1976_Child Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Just got back to Brighton. What a load of rubbish. We were all over them in the first half. God knows how many chances we had. Saga - excellent, well played and welcome back. Other than that utter crap. The corners were poor and that free kick in the second half down the Chapel end was ****ing atrocious. What do this boys do during training? Surely, SURELY SURELY IT IS THE JOB OF A MANAGER / HEAD COACH TO GET THE BOYS TO ****ING WELL PRACTICE SET PIECES??????????? They looked like f\/cking amateurs out there during the second half. The second goal which Doncaster scored, the bloke just ****ing walked through about five of our lot's legs. I applauded. Good goal. Showed how crap we are. The Northam started singing for Jan to go. I turned around to the lads behind me and told them to shut the **** up as calling for the manager to be sacked during a game is never helpful. I have always supported the incumbent manager. But even I have to admit that today his team looked utterly out of their depth. The the good thing to come out of today's game is that at last we in the Northam have started to shout for Lowe to Go. Charlie24 Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Route 1 Hoofball in now, please. Total football is totally useless. If it was that simple everyone would be doing it, football isn't just a balancing act between good football and results. You cannot just say that hoofball would get us results, our squad doesn't have it in them to turn to hoofball football and fly up the league. Lallana - 6 - still looks a classy player, but still needs to make it count Am I seeing a different Adam Lallana to everybody else? How can you give him six out of ten for that dross? He is like a skinny Adam Hammill, absolutely no end product. I am starting to hope the rumours of other clubs sniffing around him are true. If there were any scouts in today checking out Lallana or Surman what sort of value would they put on the pair of them? Andrew Surman needs to reach deep down into his shorts and find his balls. I am fed up of seeing him pulling his foot out of tackles. If he really is a Saints fan he should be prepared to bleed for the cause but the ****ing great jessy is worried about scraping his shins. If Jason Euell had put in a performance like either one of the two of them today he would have been booed off the park. What a ****ing disappointment today was, once again I let myself get carried away from one good result and yet again I am gutted.

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Desperately poor today. Yes we had chances in the first half but so did they! Apart from the keeper and centre-halves, we looked weak all over. The full backs were left exposed by two wingers who are lightweight and didn't track back. The central midfield was also lightweight and there was no cohesion between Surman or Schneiderlin. The front two weren't great but at least there was effort from both and everything Saga hit was on target. Good to see him score and get a nice reaction on his return throughout. On a more general, personal note, I can't afford a season ticket any more (2 kids under the age of 3 can do that to you!) so the occasional games I can get to, I treasure. But it's hard to treasure those games when whatever you do get to see is complete dross. I'm not sure if we can even blame being 'forced' to mainly play mainly kids. The organisation of the side is p*ss poor and I'm not entirely sure the players know what they're meant to be doing. And that, unfortunately, is a damning indictment of the management team. If this is total football, it's totally unacceptable.

L1Minus10 Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Davis 7 - Did all he could, some good catches and blocks, one ill-advised rush from the line James 5 - Some good tackles but just gets bullied too often. didn't have a clue where to play when Perry went off, more JP's fault than his. Molyneux 5 - Swung wildly between very good and very poor... have to remember it's his 2nd league game ever. Perry 7 - Solid match until sacrificed by tactical genius Saeijs 7 - Good game, solid, took no sh!t. Shame he'll be gone after we go down. Holmes 1 - Waste of space. Is rated by some and he does have some skil but a lack of pace kills him. Totally ineffective and played on wrong wing by tactical genius. Schneiderlin 2 - The definition of 'propaganda' footballer. Nice skill, some nice passing, contributes s0d all in the final analysis. Holding midfielder who can't tackle for sh!t. Wotton would be more effective. Surman 2 - See Schneiderlin. Wright-Philips 2 - Average in first half, pitiful in 2nd. Couldn't be bothered. Totally ineffective and played on wrong wing by tactical genius. 3 years we've had this useless fucq. McGoldrick 6 - Thought he tried his best given the appalling service from midfield. Saganowski 7 - Well taken goal and worked well to make the most of pitiful service. Smith 7 - I groaned when he came on but he did more in 15 minutes than Surman, Schneiderlin, Holmes and BWP managed between them. Played on wrong wing by tactical genius. Lallana 4 - The usual, looked pretty, delivered not a lot. Poortvliet 0.5 Wingers on the wrong wing. Wingers too far forward given that McGoldrick was playing right up front. This left the 'human shield' (PMSL) of Surman and Schneiderlin with too much to do and they didn;t even try. The substitution of Perry is the sort of thing you try when there is 10 mins to go and you're 2-0 down... not half an hour and 1-0 and it was ****ing obvious that the 3 at the back formation had never been practised from the look on the faces of the players. The radio explanation of 'getting Schneiderlin to play in front of the back 4' was just shiit as that's where he is supposed to play anyway FFS. The midfield was appalling from the 1st whistle and we had Gillett and Wotton on the bench who could have come on and at least made it competitive. Jan, you are the weakest link... now f*ck off. georgeg Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Gutted and devastated. That was one soul destroying afternoon. We played so well during the first half too, just couldn't finish for toffee. The sucker punch goal immediately after kicking-off the second half was our downfall. Heads dropped, discontent filled the air, heads dropped further. Fights in the Itchen stand, fights in the Northam stand, attempted pitch invasion from the Northam, the atmosphere got more and more hostile, and quite rightly so. I watched my team, my Club, fall apart in front of me this afternoon, and someone HAS to take the blame. Rupert, forget your ego for just one nanosecond, and you'll realise you're killing this club. We're waiting for you to do the right thing, do the decent thing, and naff off... if you cared about this Club like you claim to, like WE do, you'd do it. Oh, and take Mr McGoldrick with you. You cannot just say that hoofball would get us results, our squad doesn't have it in them to turn to hoofball football and fly up the league. It's passing football under successive managers that has got us into this mess; surely time to try something different? The best thing about hoofball is that the ball gets pumped into the opponents' penalty area as often as possible without all that ridiculous square buildup play that we seem to specialise in. Therefore it's more exciting, more efficient and more likely to produce a goal. Why use 20 passes when one will do? I rest my case.
SW11_Saint Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 JP post match comments: Should have had pen Goal was offside New players played well Fighting spirit at 0-2 We lack confidence, we need wins Look forward to Norwich Saga is good player He's in denial - refusing to even admit there's a problem. Lowe and the board are doing exactly the same. It's like being an alcoholic - until they understand and admit they have problem, and decide to do something about it, nothing will change. With Lowe, Portvliet & co. we are f*cked.
AlfredKo Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 Come on- it's not Holmes' fault that he was on the wrong side! If he was as good with his right foot as he is with his left, that would likely have been in. Nevertheless, all the players can't shoot from pre-season till now is the truth. Apart from Saganowski and Skacel, no one can strike the ball properly at all. They passed the ball very well but striked the ball awfully. Jan, you always say that the players do not take the opportunities why not ask them to shoot more otherwise you get ****ing dropped!!!!!!
Matt SFC Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 The only reason I can see Jan playing bwp & Holmes on the opposite sides is so it is easier for them to cut in and provide more goals for the side and they would be on the closer foot to the goal if you get me. but this is just silly tactics and clearly not working so PLEASE STOP jan, we had burley putting players out of position, its stupid and clearly doesn't work

Big Ron fan Posted 17 January, 2009 Share Posted 17 January, 2009 When will we reach rock bottom ? We have been nose diving ever since the appointment of Sturrock. When will it end ? No, since the sacking of Sturrock.

teamsaint Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 Just awful. Frustration everywhere. We are divided and sinking under Lowe. Just as an aside really, I spent about 20 mins watching sneiderlin today. He was completely bypassed for the whole time I spent watching him. Perhaps he had some role not apparent to an amateur like me- but to me he really didn't look all that bothered. I felt Surman was really having to do the job of two men. I really wish that there was something to unite the fanbase. But I don't think there is. And I have a horrible feeling that L1 might be a struggle. Spose I'll still turn up though. Saintandy666 Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 I have been going to see saints since I was 7. I am now 16. Never once, not even once, have I ever left a match early. It hasn't even crossed my mind, but today... yes today, I did. It was disgusting. Today was disgusting. The players attitude was disgusting. The second half was a piece of ****. You know what makes it worse... Doncaster were also a piece of ****, just we were even more so. No passion, no effort, no nothing. We are ****. Kingsland Codger Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 Earlier this season we were losing at home but played some elegant football. Today we were utterly disjointed and there was no semblance of team work. Dreadful.
Saint Bones Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 AS far as BWP AND HOLMES are concerned that must be the managers fault ' date=' if you play them on the wrong sides they have to cut in to stay on their only foot[/quote'] What the hell was that all about ??? Very Burley. Surely Holmes should be on the left and BWP ( or someone who's a winger) on the right ? Sounds like JP went into panic today. I'm normally not one to call for axing's - but if we dont do it before the window shuts we are in a hell of a lot of trouble. Something needs to be done now ! Saint Bones Posted 18 January, 2009 Share Posted 18 January, 2009 Today our "total football experiment",means this..... We are totally rubbish We are totally tactically inept The coach totally hasn't a clue The players totally don't understand what the coach wants or is on about The Chairman treats the fans with total contempt The sum total of passion in our team is nil We are becoming a total embarrassment and laughing stock Do I need to go on....... "total football"...... Total bo**ocks I Totally agree
