Saints could offer to subsidise the gap in wages. That way he wouldn't lose out financially from his current deal until 2022.

if he actually departs, I think it is pretty safe to say that this will happen.

I asked for actual examples, not an impassioned defense of FM

Man City paid a massive chunk of Adeybayor's wages when he signed permanently for Spurs.

Sisto? Or is this a long running message board joke that I haven't kept up with? Looked lively in the games I saw.

Yep, hearing it can’t be finalised till Denmark leave World Cup. Which I find odd

Risky move at £30m+

Guy on the 606 thread (Beefy I think) quite reliable with his info said he had sources saying we were still in for Quincy and obviously Elyionoussi.

Why are people talking to Cabbage_Face as if he isn't an alias?

You have no idea how long I’ve been posting on here, before you were a sparkle in the centrifuge. Holla if you hear me.

Do we really need another forward who only scores a goal every ten games or so? He's scored just 7 in 63 games for Celta and 1 in 17 for Denmark. He's just another Redmond.

Who do you suggest?

Nils Petersen or Carlos Bacca.

They''re both out and out strikers though, not the attacking midfielder/winger type Sisto is. I still hold out hope we may move Long on and bring in Paco for e.g. If you then supply him with pace from Sisto and Mo then our attacking will have a very fresh feel to it, and goals.

Quincy Promes for me!!

I know cabbage_face, he isn't an alias. I'm happy to have a mass debate on it.

Didn't the original cabbage face get a post about a Czech very tall striker signing for Saints picked up by BBC gossip in the Burley days? But looks suspiciously like an alter ego when you look at some other threads...

sam lee who covers man city has alluded we are favourites to sign Gunn for 15 million and city would have a buy back clause

As I said the other day after K,Billy posted about him, he's very highly rated.

£15m is such a random move for somebody after Macca just signed a new bumper contract. (I know competition for places is great, but would just seem like an odd move).

Yeah it seems odd to me as well. I assumed our move for him was off the back of McCarthy leaving, but even if Forster left, are we really going to spend £15m on a keeper as a backup - and one who wants first team football? It doesn't add up to me, though I'm not saying the stories are rubbish, I just wonder what the big plan is.

Knowing Saints it'll be to sell McCarthy & give Forster another new contract :D

If it's cost neutral (ie we get 15 mil for Forster) then Gunn would keep the "home grown" numbers the same.

Just wake me up when the season starts and tell me who has gone and who has arrived. It's obviously going to be manic over the next few weeks.

I'm hearing Mexican Diego Reyes apparently, CB from Porto, free transfer.

25, Mexican international, missed their World Cup squad with a hamstring injury. On a free - can't really go wrong.

His name showed up in one of those "10 best players available on a free" articles recently. Praps Les plagiarised that and changed the title to "SFC shopping list, summer 2018".

We seem to specialise in buying players with injuries (albeit doesn't sound a bad one, this). Like Alan Partridge taking delivery of some Terry's chocolate oranges with only superficial damage. Back of the net!

Think he’s Italy bound Roma and another I can’t remember

Roma have just signed Pastore. Can’t see them wanting/needed them both.

Anyhow, not convinced Ziyech is what we need and would be a bit of a luxury player. Would much prefer someone with a bit of pace to play on the right wing as well as this Norwegian bloke.

Early season rumoured centre-back target moves elsewhere.

Valencia sign Diakhaby

Valencia have signed defender Mouctar Diakhaby from Lyon.

Diakhaby has also attracted interest from Everton and Newcastle but will join the La Liga side.

The 21-year-old arrives for a fee close to €15m.
