qwertyell Posted 16 June, 2018 Posted 16 June, 2018 An actual number 10? A goalscoring midfielder? This rumour does not compute. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
stevy777_x Posted 16 June, 2018 Posted 16 June, 2018 @TheSunFootball: EXCLUSIVE: James Maddison on the verge of completing £20m-plus Southampton move. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/6550455/james-maddison-southampton-norwich-bid-accepted/?utm_source=TWITTER&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=Sprnklr+SUN+Organic&UTMX=Editorial%253ATheSunFootball%253ATw+Image+and+link%253AStatement%253ASport That would be a fantastic signing and exactly the sort of player i said we should be aiming for at the end of last season. Let s hope we get it done.
SuperSAINT Posted 16 June, 2018 Author Posted 16 June, 2018 Happily agree with all the above. Lets see if we can get it over the line.
shurlock Posted 16 June, 2018 Posted 16 June, 2018 Hopefully that’s the influence of Hughes and Bowen.
Turkish Posted 16 June, 2018 Posted 16 June, 2018 Good to se Les exerting his influence on the transfer committee again. After two years of foreign managers wanting to bring in the likes of Carillo, Boufal and Pied its refreshing to see Les flexing his muscles again, working closely with our manager to being in young British talent. Well done Les.

A proper link at last, and an exciting one. Wonder if we'll let them keep Reed?
SuperSAINT Posted 16 June, 2018 Author Posted 16 June, 2018 Hopefully that’s the influence of Hughes and Bowen. Possibly. We've been linked with him for some time though. I've always liked the idea of signing the best championship players.
shurlock Posted 16 June, 2018 Posted 16 June, 2018 Possibly. We've been linked with him for some time though. I've always liked the idea of signing the best championship players. Yep definitely - if you can thrive over a 46 game season in the championship, you have the mentality and physicality to play in the PL. Needless to say he’s also blessed with bags of skill.

Turkish Posted 16 June, 2018 Posted 16 June, 2018 Possibly. We've been linked with him for some time though. I've always liked the idea of signing the best championship players. Agreed. We've always done better with those sort of players and as Shurlock says if you can perform over a 46 game season then mentally and physically you don't need to adapt too much. He would be a great signing.
shurlock Posted 16 June, 2018 Posted 16 June, 2018 Any relation [emoji23] Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk And to think he was a no.10
Pamplemousse Posted 16 June, 2018 Posted 16 June, 2018 Possibly. We've been linked with him for some time though. I've always liked the idea of signing the best championship players. Exactly, worked with J Rod, Clyne, obviously Lallana, Lambert, Schneiderlin et al
ally_uk Posted 17 June, 2018 Posted 17 June, 2018 That's exactly what saints should be doing signing up the best young championship players..
CB Fry Posted 17 June, 2018 Posted 17 June, 2018 Exactly, worked with J Rod, Clyne, obviously Lallana, Lambert, Schneiderlin et alYour three "Obviously" ones weren't signed as the best Championship players.
Pilchards Posted 17 June, 2018 Posted 17 June, 2018 A Boro supporting mate of mine. Saints have made another bid for Gibson and he thinks it’s the third one made. No idea of prices but it looks like we are going all out for him?

No idea of prices but it looks like we are going all out for him? Gibson might be an upgrade on our current options but is he the "brute" we need at CB ?

No idea of prices but it looks like we are going all out for him? Natural leader by all accounts. 2 good pieces of business if we could get him & Maddison over the line.
Heisenberg Posted 17 June, 2018 Posted 17 June, 2018 Funnily enough I met Gibson when a friend of mine was v close to sponsoring Middleboro (before the relegation) Gibson does have an aura about him and personally I'd like him here.
Crab Lungs Posted 17 June, 2018 Posted 17 June, 2018 I always preferred Ayala... but still, no more Hoedt would be good irrespective.

A person's aura is said to be a field of energy that they give off. Some people believe that everything has an aura or is surrounded by a field of its own energy that can be captured using Kirlian photography. The ability to see auras is considered a psychic skill.

Better get some of those cameras and get all the best aura players at the cheapest prices. Glasgow would never complain again.
Convict Colony Posted 17 June, 2018 Posted 17 June, 2018 is aura a rating on whoscored or football manager ?
tajjuk Posted 17 June, 2018 Posted 17 June, 2018 Apparently Leicester have also agreed a fee with Maddison.
Heisenberg Posted 17 June, 2018 Posted 17 June, 2018 Apparently Leicester have also agreed a fee with Maddison. Hopefully just agent talk. Few Norwich fans (with ITK claims) saying we are the only club to bid Our best / only chance of signing him is if nobody else competes with us
OttawaSaint Posted 17 June, 2018 Posted 17 June, 2018 We'll have to wait until our Kenyan chum gets back from his day trip to the Solomon Islsnds to be sure...
Dusic Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 RB competition should be a priority, especially as there is some doubt over Cedric's future and he may not be able to play the first couple of games even if he stays, should Portugal get quite far in the WC. Cedric had a poor season but lacked any kind of serious competition. In fact, so did RB. Full back cover the weakest area of the squad.

ALWAYS_SFC Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 Can't decide if that's likely to be true or lazy journalism. Lazy hopefully, he's always injured
Toadhall Saint Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 Lazy hopefully, he's always injured Played 38 games last season according to that article.
SuperSAINT Posted 18 June, 2018 Author Posted 18 June, 2018 What surprised me about Wilshere was that he seemingly didn't shine whilst @ Bournemouth.
Saint Albert Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 What surprised me about Wilshere was that he seemingly didn't shine whilst @ Bournemouth. He spent many games on the bench, if I remember correctly.
saint77 Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 Can't decide if that's likely to be true or lazy journalism. Similar to Maddison but older hcdajfu
S-Clarke Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 He spent many games on the bench, if I remember correctly. He started the season there, but then picked up a standard injury which rulled him out for a while. He never really made his way back in after that.
Toadhall Saint Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 Similar to Maddison but older hcdajfu Was thinking the same revthe comparison with Maddison - wages and injuries (even tho he played more last season) would be a worry.
EBS1980 Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 Similar to Maddison but older hcdajfu Maddison is a goalscoring midfielder. Wilshere isn’t
SuperSAINT Posted 18 June, 2018 Author Posted 18 June, 2018 Maddison is a goalscoring midfielder. Wilshere isn’t Would agree with that. One thing I would say about Jack. He's different to what we have.
ally_uk Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 To injury prone.... Get Sisto, Promes and Schar job done....
Micky Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-plot-jack-wilshere-transfer-12738723Never really been a fan, but he is still only 26. If he came and progressed like Ryan has, who knows, may be worth a punt. That said his injury record is worrying to say the least. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
Pat from Poole Posted 18 June, 2018 Posted 18 June, 2018 Jack Wilshere is an absolute waste of space.
qwertyell Posted 19 June, 2018 Posted 19 June, 2018 Not worth his wage demands with his injury record. Shame, as he's better than any of our current midfield options, but we're already relying on an overpaid crock to score all our goals in the ten games per season he's fit enough to feature in (for an hour) - I'm not sure filling the key areas in our side with players who are rarely available is a sensible policy. doddisalegend Posted 19 June, 2018 Posted 19 June, 2018 Well at least Austin would have some company in the treatment room...
Saint-Fred Posted 19 June, 2018 Posted 19 June, 2018 https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-plot-jack-wilshere-transfer-12738723 Hmmmm..we won't pay Maddison more than Leicester will, yet we are going to pay Wiltshire the 130k a week Arsenal won't pay him and that others will? Not a hope in hell... (Even If we were going to spend that sort of money on wages I can think of 100 players who would be better value than Wiltshire!)
CB Fry Posted 19 June, 2018 Posted 19 June, 2018 Anyone really believe we would sign him?Feels like a Mark Hughes QPR signing. But still no.
Batman Posted 19 June, 2018 Posted 19 June, 2018 Feels like a Mark Hughes QPR signing. But still no. IF he was to stay injury free, I think he could be a great signing but he wont, he will be injured for 15+ games
