The first manager when I started going to The Dell.

Met him in the car park many times when hunting autographs and he was always very kind to the scruffy kid who'd approached him and asked if he could help get me Terry's signature in my book.

Just a great guy and a true legend for Saints....

Strange. It's easy to look no further than Lawrie when you are looking at Saints legends, after all he delivered the one meaningful trophy in our history, but I've always felt that Ted getting us out of the Second Division and keeping us in the top flight was underestimated in comparison, and we played some bloody good football. Remember the last two games of our first season were Forest who we had to beat to stay up and did, and Villa who we ****ted 6-2 in the last game of the season. Oh and there's a sort of omen for Saturday. That 66-67 season we won at Goodison!

Yep I remember it well as I was there no Terry Paine that day which was a shame I think Ossie finally scored a goal

WE were the first club that finished three from bottom to get relegated will probably happen again next week

Last game of the season, already relegated and Ossie did finally score.

Met him in the Board room at the Dell with my son when he was giving out drinks to guests of Patrick on the day, A great man.

We weren’t already relegated. We needed Birmingham to lose and us to win last day, we won but so did they.
