saints1988 Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 Has a book coming out.....this has to be a joke. Seems a great bloke but can’t have that much to say.
Dusic Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 Got a lot of respect for Maya. He comes from a country where very few players have made an impact as a PL player, certainly not as a centre back in a physical league. He must be mentally strong to have overcome the bias about being an Asian player in Europe and also carrying a lot of expectation on his shoulders from Japanese football fans. That isn't easy. He has improved massively during his time here, especially when playing alongside someone better than him. Also clear he cares and is well liked and respected by teammates. As a player he isn't IMO a first choice CB for a decent PL side but thats no disgrace. As a person, there is a lot to like about him in an era where the majority of PL players are lad banter, tattoo sleeve tossers. He will have a better story to tell than the majority.

He is a true professional. I'll certainly read it.
Saint86 Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 Has a book coming out.....this has to be a joke. Seems a great bloke but can’t have that much to say. Don't really get your outrage with this tbh. Far bigger problems than attacking one of our longest serving and loyal players.
DT Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 He's one of the very few people at the club with any integrity whatsoever. Not worthy of dissing, to be honest
eurosaint Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 I’ll be reading his book, looking forward to it’s release !!
Heisenberg Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 He absolutely loves the club and is a true legend. If he was good enough for the top 6 he wouldn't leave us as he's a legend and he loves the club so much
Halo Stickman Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 If the rest of our squad displayed the same levels of commitment as Yoshida then we wouldn't be in this mess.
Bad Wolf Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 Name a better CB who would be happy to warm Southampton's bench for months unend?

Lighthouse Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 Don't really get your outrage with this tbh. Far bigger problems than attacking one of our longest serving and loyal players. He is neither outraged nor attacking. That said I would be interested in reading the book, personally.
davefizzy14 Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 Maya is a true leader and professional of our club. I for one will be reading it

Micky Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 Top player, give me 11 Mayas now. We may still go down, but we'd do so with one hell of a fight. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

Eggy Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 He's one of the very few people at the club with any integrity whatsoever. Not worthy of dissing, to be honest The japanese way. Not the best, but loves the club and us, which to me, is important.
Deano6 Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 Has a book coming out.....this has to be a joke. Seems a great bloke but can’t have that much to say. If only he had a whole nation who would be interested to hear about his experiences.
Lets B Avenue Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 I'm just amazed so many of you can read Japanese.
Dark Munster Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 If the rest of our squad displayed the same levels of commitment as Yoshida then we wouldn't be in this mess. True dat.

If he was good enough for the top 6 he wouldn't leave us as he's a legend and he loves the club so much Glasgow, what are you going to do for a ****e stir when we're in the Championship and no one gives a toss about your weak wind ups?
Tamesaint Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 Glasgow, what are you going to do for a ****e stir when we're in the Championship and no one gives a toss about your weak wind ups? Improve his golf handicap????
Pamplemousse Posted 26 April, 2018 Posted 26 April, 2018 As well as being committed to our club, which for six years is impressive given our player turnover in recent years, he always seems like a really decent guy.
brmbrm Posted 27 April, 2018 Posted 27 April, 2018 Has a book coming out.....this has to be a joke. Seems a great bloke but can’t have that much to say. Not the best book review i have ever read, but at least you admit you haven't read it, which is more than some
Heisenberg Posted 27 April, 2018 Posted 27 April, 2018 Glasgow, what are you going to do for a ****e stir when we're in the Championship and no one gives a toss about your weak wind ups? What part of my post for u disagree with mate? Confused.com
nta786 Posted 27 April, 2018 Posted 27 April, 2018 What part of my post for u disagree with mate? Confused.com don't disagree with it, but it just is not relevant. the fact of the matter is he is releasing a book and he has been with us for 6 seasons. that sentence is a fact. what you're doing is almost Les Reed-esque in putting a negative spin, the same way he does when our players want to leave- ironic really.
Saint_clark Posted 27 April, 2018 Posted 27 April, 2018 I'm sure he's got plenty to say! Will be buying this with interest. Sent from my SM-J330FN using Tapatalk

And it is a strength which resides in everyone.’ Maya Yoshida, one of Southampton FC’s most admired players, is well known for his sense of humour on the field. However, underneath the convivial public persona is a man with unrivalled ambition, resilience and strength of character. Unbeatable Mind reveals the secrets behind Maya’s success and how he became a favourite of football fans across the globe. Recounting his stunning career trajectory, this book provides inspirational guidance on how to overcome obstacles and thrive in any competitive arena. Was the ghostwriter getting confused with someone else when he wrote this synopsis?
Lighthouse Posted 27 April, 2018 Posted 27 April, 2018 I'm just amazed so many of you can read Japanese. I've watched enough Hentai to figure out the gist of it.

Saint Without a Halo Posted 28 April, 2018 Posted 28 April, 2018 Name a better CB who would be happy to warm Southampton's bench for months unend? Or even to fill in as a fullback whenever asked with no complaints
Dusic Posted 28 April, 2018 Posted 28 April, 2018 Or even to fill in as a fullback whenever asked with no complaintsThat said, we aren't some kind of charity. Saints have given him a great platform.
benjii Posted 28 April, 2018 Posted 28 April, 2018 With Austin and Long, about the only one of the first team squad I would be disappointed not to have next season.
GarrettIvo Posted 29 April, 2018 Posted 29 April, 2018 Has a book coming out.....this has to be a joke. Seems a great bloke but can’t have that much to say. I'd imagine the story of how a young Japanese footballer finds himself playing in Europe, and then becomes Japan's longest serving EPL player, could be a semi-decent read. Maya has scored more EPL goals than any other Japanese player, although Okazaki is sure to overtake him soon enough. I'll be getting his book for sure.
Dellman Posted 29 April, 2018 Posted 29 April, 2018 He seems a thoughtful guy, may have a lot to say. there's more to life than just football matches

Pamplemousse Posted 1 May, 2018 Posted 1 May, 2018 As I said in the other thread, it's a decent career move really. Will play regularly, chance of playing in the Asian Champions League, and it's closer to Japan
Lighthouse Posted 1 May, 2018 Posted 1 May, 2018 As I said in the other thread, it's a decent career move really. Will play regularly, chance of playing in the Asian Champions League, and it's closer to Japan I'm assuming you didn't do geography at school?
Pamplemousse Posted 1 May, 2018 Posted 1 May, 2018 I'm assuming you didn't do geography at school? Saudi Arabia is closer to Japan than England is. Still far away, yes.
Pamplemousse Posted 1 May, 2018 Posted 1 May, 2018 I wonder if we will ever have another testimonial. James Ward-Prowse probably. Steven Davis made his debut at the same time but as he's 33, I doubt he'll be playing for us still at 36.
Lighthouse Posted 1 May, 2018 Posted 1 May, 2018 Saudi Arabia is closer to Japan than England is. Still far away, yes. So is Pompey. Its not enough to make any difference and I’d be surprised if there’s even a flight from Riyadh to Japan.
shurlock Posted 1 May, 2018 Posted 1 May, 2018 Saudi Arabia is closer to Japan than England is. Still far away, yes. No direct flights between Riyadh and Tokyo as far as I know pal. Its a much longer journey.
