suewhistle Posted 2 April, 2018 Share Posted 2 April, 2018 Just a reminder that you can watch a match at St Mary's this Friday without a toxic atmosphere when England Women play Wales in a world cup qualifier with a 7PM kick off. Anyone any idea why most of the Itchen isn't available for purchase as most of the Northam has limited availability? I might wait a bit to see if they open up some of the better blocks. Lighthouse Posted 2 April, 2018 Share Posted 2 April, 2018 1. There isn't a toxic atmosphere at St Mary's. If anything it's apathetic and resigned. 2. Most of the blocks will remain closed off to save costs as they are expecting low interest in this match. 3. I don't want to go, the standard will be far worse than an U23s game, which I also wouldn't choose to watch.

Sue I would suggest that you stop fannying around and get your purse open, what you can see online is all that is left!!!!!!!! Itchen sold out ages ago!! Think there are just 2 blocks, in the Kingsland showing healthy availability.

Yes agree, the atmosphere at St Mary's (and away from home) is far from toxic. No idea why some say it is - maybe they don't go. They certainly couldn't have been at the Dell under Branfoot or at St Mary's when Lowe was in his last season.

JRM Posted 2 April, 2018 Share Posted 2 April, 2018 Agree if you think St Mary’s is toxic you’ve not been to anywhere that truly is, our fans are far too soft / nice and have given the board an easy ride so far. In regards to the women’s international, clearly will be an awful game with embarrassing goal keeping but each to their own, they’ve given away loads of tickets to try to boost the crowd to create a sense of occasion, Itchen is sold out, think the only stand they haven’t opened is the Chapel. I have a feeling Saints will point to a big crowd in support of our application to enter a women’s team to the championship

The atmosphere will be all the better for missing some on this thread, but I expected that vein of comments and haven't been disappointed. At least they took the effort to say so. ;-) Yeah, maybe not toxic - apathetic is probably better, and I was there under both Branfoot and Lowe and Sturrock etc. But you don't have to put up with the constant grief this fat **** near me gives Redmond constantly throughout the match, whether he deserves it or not. The guy behind him is also hacked off so pointedly pipes up "well played Redmond" when he does something good.

SFC Forever Posted 2 April, 2018 Share Posted 2 April, 2018 St Mary's will never match the Dell for atmosphere. The sound at St Mary's is nowhere near as good due partly to the style of the building which helps produce the lack of atmospheric volume etc. Our stadium has never been as good even when we were charging from League 1 to the Premier League. The Northam is fine but the Chapel end is like a Morgue in comparison.

But that was because the whole stadium was singing as one, or at least it seemed that way to me.
