If you're going to central London just go on the train. Almost certainly, quicker, cheaper and easier

Not if you are taking others it isn’t cheaper. Family of five of us to train to museum around £200. Driving to Richmond £15 parking and £25 fuel.

£67.90 family of four two adults two kids day return Southampton to Waterloo with rail card. If you drive to Richmond you still have to get to central London - which is about another £25.
