East Kent Saint Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 As a goal scoring , penalty taking and attitude on the pitch coach then yes !!
tajjuk Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 He wasn't scoring for Cardiff in the Championship. If he hadn't left us I reckon we'd have squeezed maybe 1 more decent season out of him, but he was in decline.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 I'd rather have Rickie scoring no goals on the pitch than Carrillo and Long doing it. Having said that, at least we might actually score a penalty if was playing.
SKD Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 On the balance of what we have seen, he would offer just as much (if not more) than Carrillo has
doddisalegend Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Yep happy to pay him to sit in the treatment room with a bad back. I think this a great idea we should take further maybe we could get Channon in, on a short term deal to the end of the season, to give us a bit of pace upfront? Maybe we could tempt MLT to come out of retirement to save us with a bit of relegation magic. We could shore up the back line by getting Claus Lundekvam and killer to turn out as well..
Colinjb Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 A fully fit Rickie in his prime? Is this a trick question?
Lets B Avenue Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 A fully fit Rickie in his prime? Is this a trick question? No. Just a ****ing daft one.
Window Cleaner Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Well no, because there's obviously a reason behind him being in retirement. If he could still cut it somewhere or other he'd still be playing.
Micky Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 A fully fit Rickie in his prime? Is this a trick question? No the OP is advocating quite the opposite. Big, fat, unfit Rickie, the one that is currently retired. Not the one that you're thinking about!
Pilchards Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Whatever next Ron Davies? Probably better than Carrillo, yes!!!
Colinjb Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 No the OP is advocating quite the opposite. Big, fat, unfit Rickie, the one that is currently retired. Not the one that you're thinking about! I don't think taking on someone with a spine that cannot even sustain a round of golf, or in any way train without seizing up would be a good idea. Let's stick with the guy who has scored goals in Ligue 1 and played in the Champions League.
Stud mark of doom Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Can we make this a 'sticky' please mods This - definitely. Also, Neil Shipperly is looking like he could still do a job for us.

kwsaint Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 This thread is in danger turning into Golden Gordon from the Ripping Yarns series (showing my age)
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Wow, this is up there with getting Strachan back as Manager. Congratulations!
scotty Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Wow, this is up there with getting Strachan back as Manager. Congratulations! Oh, how we laughed. Then I remembered dalek's interminable pleas for the return of Hoddle.
BotleySaint Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 (edited) You can tell there's no Saints game this weekend. Edited 23 March, 2018 by BotleySaint
Fan The Flames Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Yes, he's exactly the strike partner Phil Boyer needs.
Badger Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Yes, he's exactly the strike partner Phil Boyer needs. Not so sure. I think Ted MacDougall would be better given the option of playing alongside Lambert. Don't suppose anyone wants Nivea to come out of retirement as well do they ? It seems his advertising career is now over.
Matthew Le God Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 ...Would you have him back? No, he ended his career unable to get into a struggling Championship team. He wouldn't be remotely close to the quality or fitness of Austin, Gabbiadni, Long and yes even Carrillo. Lambert in his prime... sure. Lambert now... no chance.
Maggie May Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 No, he was crap for us. Micky Evans on the other hand...
whelk Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 FFS this place surpasses itself at international break
Badger Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 No, he was crap for us. Micky Evans on the other hand... Tadanari Lee eclipsed both of them though.
Jimmy_D Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Lambert and us were awesome for each other. We managed to wring every last drop out of the latter part of his career, but unfortunately his time playing is done now. That said, I reckon he'll make an excellent coach, if he chooses to go that route.
doddisalegend Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 We still need a penalty coach. That's for sure when Rickie played for us a penalty was as good as a goal you just expected him to score Now we seem to miss as many as we score when you see the likes of Tadic or Gabbi step up it doesn't fill you with confidence.
the saint in winchester Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Taste testing the half time pies? Sorry, that job has already been offered to Neil 'Razor' Ruddock.
the saint in winchester Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 As a coach of the forwards, if his back could take it, yes I would. When to make the runs, how to conserve energy, I think he could advise our forwards. And as for penalty taking coaching, yes indeed.
Miltonaggro Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Not so sure. I think Ted MacDougall would be better given the option of playing alongside Lambert. Don't suppose anyone wants Nivea to come out of retirement as well do they ? It seems his advertising career is now over. He may soon have to make ends meet plying his trade as an escort in Blackpool if he wants to keep the basketball court...
Lord Duckhunter Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Penalty taking coach, wtf is that. Shall we have a throw in coach, or a goal kick coach. Is there another club in the country with a penalty taking coach? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
John Boy Saint Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 After reading the Cedric thread, surely it’s imperative we get Jermaine Wright back into the team on standby ahead of Rickie
Lord Duckhunter Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Perhaps we should get a “crossing from the right” coach. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Dr. Kucho Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Employing Lambert as a youth coach I would say yes. Good example for the players that hard works pays of and Lambert rarely got in to trouble on and off the pitch.

Saint_clark Posted 25 March, 2018 Posted 25 March, 2018 I've long believed that we need a specialist player advisor in charge of "not getting tattooed" and "avoidance of f*cking idiotic haircuts".Pretty sure Lambert has tattoos. I know one of his best mates from his time here - Danny Fox - had his arms covered in them. Sent from my SM-J330FN using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-J330FN using Tapatalk I know. Loads of professional footballers seem to be covered in them, surely more than in the general population. Although I don't subscribe to the "football players as rôle models" theory, that is one thing I'd hope young kids wouldn't follow. That and the prattish haircuts which seem to be all but compulsory.
