Pedro Posted 20 March, 2018 Posted 20 March, 2018 Ryan Bertrand returned to the club from the England squad as a precaution with a back problem
Saint IQ Posted 20 March, 2018 Posted 20 March, 2018 To Chelsea is what then papers will say come may
paulwantsapint Posted 20 March, 2018 Posted 20 March, 2018 Tactical withdrawal so can spend some more time with new manager?
beatlesaint Posted 20 March, 2018 Posted 20 March, 2018 Last thing we need is our captain out. key word is precautionary
Toadhall Saint Posted 20 March, 2018 Posted 20 March, 2018 Tactical withdrawal so can spend some more time with new manager? That’s my guess
Disco Stu Posted 20 March, 2018 Posted 20 March, 2018 key word is precautionary Well lets hope it doesn't keep him out of the West Ham game shall we? Massive game.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 20 March, 2018 Posted 20 March, 2018 That's commitment from Bertrand if anyone wanted to see it. England place/position sewn up, back to concentrate on keeping us up. By the way, if anyone has met Ryan, you'll realise that his demeanour on the pitch is not a case of him not being committed, more that he's just quite quiet and like that. A switched on and intelligent guy as well.
ART Posted 20 March, 2018 Posted 20 March, 2018 Time to recall Matt Target. Not the time to be caught short with relegation breathing down on us.
stockportsaint Posted 20 March, 2018 Posted 20 March, 2018 That's a "Ryan Giggs friendly" type injury if ever I saw one

A switched on and intelligent guy as well.I agree to a certain extent. However, I can't be the only person who has noticed that there seems to be a bit of 'beef' between Bertrand and Redmond. It's gotten worse as the season has gone on. Bertrand has looked far more effective linking up with either Boufal or Tadic, and he looked a lot livelier and happier against Wigan until Redmond came on. Then the scowl immediately reappeared. It's no secret that Redmond is a proper moaner on the pitch, he berates anyone and everyone when something goes wrong and very rarely takes any responsibility for a misplaced pass or a broken down run himself. Bertrand, by virtue of his position, will have been exposed to that more often than most. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

alpine_saint Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 Who needs England friendlies anyway. Especially as its highly unlikely England are going to Russia
Tamesaint Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 Especially as its highly unlikely England are going to Russia It is highly likely that England WILL be going. Prince William and other dignatories may not but the team will.
Charlie Wayman Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 Looks like Hughes has put club above country and good for him. Ryan will go to the World Cup no doubt about that so a good rest before the next PL match will do us and England no harm at all.
Wurzel Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 Club before country. In a year when Player of the Season looks like it will be won by default more than earned, he deserves that prize for this decision alone.
once_bitterne Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 That’s my guess Yes, that's the one. Player puts the last chance of being the starting England LB at a WC at risk in order to get involved in two weeks training for a relegation battle for a club he is desperate to leave in the Summer. And please don't think that Bertrand's place in the starting XI is 'sewn up' - you just know Southgate is itching to be given the opportunity to play Ashley Young there.
Saint86 Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 Tactical withdrawal so can spend some more time with new manager? If so that is a fair level of commitment from him. Absolutely puts his England place under undue competition.
Disco Stu Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 I'm struggling to believe this whole "tactical withdrawal" thing but if it helps the fans be more upbeat, great!
Matthew Le God Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 Especially as its highly unlikely England are going to Russia On what is that based? There is a significant difference between dignitaries like politicians/royalty not going and the England squad not going.
gphutchings Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 We can't. Sent from my SM-G930F using TapatalkI think McQueen is a better player at left back anyway. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Chez Posted 21 March, 2018 Posted 21 March, 2018 England place/position sewn up, back to concentrate on keeping us up.Will they leave Rose behind then, with Young and Bertrand selected? Personally I'd pick Bertrand to play the left centre back role and take all three toRussia especially as Young can fill gaps and Rose at his best is competent.
beatlesaint Posted 22 March, 2018 Posted 22 March, 2018 Davis out of NI squad with hamstring injury. I was surprised he was called up, the previous manager suggested he was out for a while
