saint lard Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Done and dusted. Good luck fella. You have my 100% backing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TwoPints Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Right ... lets get this show back on the road. A win at Wigan and West Ham will soon change the mood around the place.
Didcot Saint Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Good luck Mark, welcome back to our fantastic club. Please help keep us in the Premier League!
Dusic Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Solid appointment at a stage where few would be interested. Note that Reed nor Krueger have made a single comment on either Pellegrino nor Hughes via the website. Pretty spineless leadership.

shurlock Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Future pub quiz question: which manager sent two clubs down in the same season?
Crab Lungs Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Solid appointment at a stage where few would be interested. Note that Reed nor Krueger have made a single comment on either Pellegrino nor Hughes via the website. Pretty spineless leadership. Not in the pics either. They only want to know when it’s easy going. Spineless, poisonous, cowardly toxic bottlejobs
CB Fry Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Sensible appointment. Let's hope he can do the business. Go on my son.
saint77 Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 All the best don’t know why but have a good feeling about this appointment
danjosaint Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Perfect for getting in Shaquiri and Butland in the summer
Saint Albert Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Welcome Mark Hughes and good luck. Three wins out of eight ought to do it.
Bad Wolf Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Till the end of the season. I'd rather it was a longer term contract.
Stud mark of doom Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Very pleased. I was starting to think we wouldn’t get it over the line. Just what we need. We now have a fighting chance.
igsey Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Official Twitter confirms it's a deal until the end of the season. Can't be any worse than Pellegrino. Behind him all the way (to the Championship).
Simon3737 Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Solid appointment at a stage where few would be interested. Note that Reed nor Krueger have made a single comment on either Pellegrino nor Hughes via the website. Pretty spineless leadership. Maybe sacking Pellegrino and appointing Hughes wasn’t Les’s decision! Maybe Les and Ralph are now being edged out my Mr Gao...
Saint_Ash Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Not in relegation and if he keeps it that way he'll pocket a million. Nice little earner and motivation right there. Win comfortably against Wigan and that will be a great start.
Saint Albert Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Contract lasts until the end of the season. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-03-14/announcement-mark-hughes-new-southampton-manager
nta786 Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 has my backing 100% too. good luck Mark- go get us Premier League football (and Europa League!!!! ) football for next season!
James Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Contract lasts until the end of the season. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-03-14/announcement-mark-hughes-new-southampton-manager Bit of a shame it wasn't at least a year so he had next year. Not really sure how invested you'd feel on an 8 game contract where, if we go down, he can say "I didn't have enough time".
Kingsland Red Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Good news. Hopefully he will get more out of the players.
Heisenberg Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Hopefully the spark to ignite our season! I got it mate! You're wasted round here buddy
qwertyell Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 At least we won't be stuck with him next season when we're trying to get promoted. A couple of ex-players on The Debate downplaying the myth of Hughes being a no nonsense, arse kicking manager - Mark Schwarzer just said he sometimes saw him ranting at officials on the sideline and wished he would be more like that in the dressing room. Good luck to him. I don't think he'll make any impact on our decline as it's a) probably too ingrained at this point, and b) he's not very good, but I hope to be proven very wrong. tajjuk Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Eugh, at least they have done it quickly, only positive I am taking from this appointment.
DT Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Good. New start. Optimistic Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
conaero Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Welcome Mr H looking forward to your input. All true Saints fans need to get 100% behind and all pull in the same direction!
Viking Saint Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Till the end of the season. I'd rather it was a longer term contract. I'm pleased it isn't. Monumentally underwhelmed by this appointment and if we go down, do we really want to be stuck with him??
saint lard Posted 14 March, 2018 Author Posted 14 March, 2018 Nelly Gao didn’t have to say a lot to me to say exactly what was going to happen.when and who. her silence said loads at times. I will leave that there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Crab Lungs Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Oh, and welcome back Mark... important bit of advice... ignore the whimpering crybaby gender neutral fan boys on twitter and the like. They’ve never kicked a football in their lives, yet pontificate from their ivory towers about how ‘having two strikers would solve the problem scoring goals’ and that ‘we haven’t been bad this season, just unlucky’. Weirdos. You have the backing of the sensible, stable and more knowledgable fans.
Cartman Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Only 60 days to go. At least he won't be here any longer than that.
Crab Lungs Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Nelly Gao didn’t have to say a lot to me to say exactly what was going to happen.when and who. her silence said loads at times. I will leave that there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Don’t leave it there! Tell me more
Behind Enemy Lines Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Welcome back and good luck Mark. Behind you and the team 100%.
Jimmy_D Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Not the most exciting appointment we've ever had, but that isn't what we need right now. Hopefully he'll be putting the best players out on the pitch with a bit of motivation. It's up to them after that.
DT Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 My only criticism is that it is a very short term thing. If he’s right, he’s right. And the players knowing he’s not around for long diminishes his authority, perhaps? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Spoonman Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Let’s just get behind him ffs. Welcome back Sparky son now do us proud.
davefizzy14 Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Very pleased with this. Welcome on-board Mark, glad to have you as manager of our wonderful club. Feeling very upbeat by his appointment, steer us clear of trouble and get us to Wembley

angelman Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 For those that are underwhelmed, as well as all other football supporters out there that seem to be commenting, who exactly do you think we should have signed? I see all these comments about how uninspired it was, and how it is just recycling the same old failures. I really have no idea what people expect. If we signed someone "inspired", ie that had never managed in the PL before, then those same people would be saying we were mad. It is ridiculous to think that we should appoint someone without any experience of the PL for the remaining 8 games, and who is also available. So that limits things a bit now, doesn't it?
Saint IQ Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 If he could play Gabbiadini with someone in the hole close to him that would be great........Oh and either drop Tadic or play him on the Left only!
scotty Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Don’t leave it there! Tell me more He could, but then he'd have to kill you.
Greedyfly Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Can just about stomach this as it's an end of season appointment only. Hope he gets us organised but it's a nothing appointment born out of desperation rather than a thorough process (a luxury we couldn't afford). Brand of football is grim and Stoke are in fact below us. Still if he keeps us up... We are **** and beggars clearly couldn't be choosers
Saint Albert Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 Video of his interview here... https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-03-14/video-mark-hughes-new-southampton-manager-first-interview
mrfahaji Posted 14 March, 2018 Posted 14 March, 2018 "It's a challenge I'm excited by. It's a great opportunity to come back to a club I know well, and a club I've got real affinity with, and I couldn't turn that down," Hughes said. A real affinity with? Hmmmm, ok if you say so, Mark. Good luck to him though, he's gonna need it! Looking forward to seeing his first win on Sunday :-)

Note that Reed nor Krueger have made a single comment on either Pellegrino nor Hughes via the website. Pretty spineless leadership. I noticed Reed posing for pictures in the interview video that came out a few minutes ago. The club must have just opted not to publish any right away.
