beavis17 Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Davide Astori, the defender we were heavily linked with a few years ago, died in his sleep last night before Fiorentina's game against Udinese today. https://www.football-italia.net/118045/fiorentina-captain-astori-dead
S-Clarke Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 He has only just become a father as well, absolutely tragic.
Bad Wolf Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Shocking news. I remember when he was linked with Saints a few years ago. R.I.P.
Saint Ian Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 And then something puts everything into perspective. Absolutely shocking at 31. RIP.
niceandfriendly Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Became a father 2 weeks ago. F*cking unfair :'(
Lighthouse Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 And then something puts everything into perspective. Absolutely shocking at 31. RIP. Please, let's not go through this again. R.I.P. Davide, truly shocking. 31 and supposedly fit as a fiddle and he apparently just drops dead.
Suhari Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Shocking. RIP. He was a really decent player and I had really hoped he'd come to us a few seasons back.
whelk Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Please, let's not go through this again. R.I.P. Davide, truly shocking. 31 and supposedly fit as a fiddle and he apparently just drops dead. Totally understand the no one equates tragedy to football. However I think when someone is shocked by someone passing away it does make them think things like why I am getting worked up screaming hateful abuse about someone like MP whose only failing seems to be not knowing what he doing.

davefizzy14 Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Very sad news. Great defender who we were linked with a few years ago. RIP Davide
Bad Wolf Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Does it matter what phrase is used? If people want to say that it puts things into perspective, let them. Why does everything have to turn into a petty squabble about nothing on here?
hypochondriac Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Doesn't put anything into perspective as I didn't know him and he's just an image and a name on a screen but I'm sure his family would be very sad that he passed away so young so I hope there are people supporting them.
Dublin Saint Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 And then something puts everything into perspective. Absolutely shocking at 31. RIP. This. R.I.P.

That's a really long winded way of saying "Very sad. R.I.P"
benjii Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 ****, how awful. RIP Davide. ADS? People live for decades with that now. Look at Magic Johnson.
Colinjb Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Appalling. To die so young when at the prime of life.
scotty Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 I read a report he had a very short illness. RIP It must have been short if it came as a shock to the club. RIP.
hypochondriac Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 That's a really long winded way of saying "Very sad. R.I.P"Well no because I find rip to be even more of an empty platitude than what I wrote but I'd rather hope that the ones left behind who knew him personally are being supported so they can find the sadness more bearable.
simo Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 It's always a shock to hear of such things , No matter what lifestyle you lead rich or poor fit or unhealthy when it's your time it's your time use it wisely!

sadoldgit Posted 4 March, 2018 Posted 4 March, 2018 Don't go all SOG on us. Not very classy point scoring on a thread like this, pal. Very sad news when a young apparently fit family man passes away suddenly. RIP
Give it to Ron Posted 5 March, 2018 Posted 5 March, 2018 BREAKING: Criminal proceedings have been opened with regards to Davide Astori's death over the possibility of manslaughter.
Wurzel Posted 5 March, 2018 Posted 5 March, 2018 BREAKING: Criminal proceedings have been opened with regards to Davide Astori's death over the possibility of manslaughter. Not quite how it sounds. All sudden deaths in Italy are investigated with a "culpable homicide" enquiry, a sort of "assume someone may be responsible" approach until tests prove otherwise.
suewhistle Posted 5 March, 2018 Posted 5 March, 2018 Yep, nothing in the online edition of La Stampa as I write.
Give it to Ron Posted 5 March, 2018 Posted 5 March, 2018 Yep, nothing in the online edition of La Stampa as I write.Yes I just read it how they get an autopsy done. 31 is too young! Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Mystic Force Posted 5 March, 2018 Posted 5 March, 2018 Am I a bad person because my first thought was, "We dodged a bullet there" And my second thought was, "Actually Liverpool dodged a bullet there"

whelk Posted 5 March, 2018 Posted 5 March, 2018 Am I a bad person because my first thought was, "We dodged a bullet there" And my second thought was, "Actually Liverpool dodged a bullet there" Fck me, Perhaps you might also like MP to get leukaemia so he couldn’t manage us. After all it’s all about the football eh

Saint Albert Posted 6 March, 2018 Posted 6 March, 2018 Poch on trying to sign Astori while at Southampton... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/03/06/mauricio-pochettino-tried-sign-davide-astori-southampton/
Pamplemousse Posted 6 March, 2018 Posted 6 March, 2018 Am I a bad person because my first thought was, "We dodged a bullet there" And my second thought was, "Actually Liverpool dodged a bullet there" Nasty.
stknowle Posted 6 March, 2018 Posted 6 March, 2018 Am I a bad person because my first thought was, "We dodged a bullet there" And my second thought was, "Actually Liverpool dodged a bullet there" Some thoughts are best left as thoughts. You have provided an example of one.
Mystic Force Posted 7 March, 2018 Posted 7 March, 2018 Wow the stuff some of you throw around on here and then turns out you are all snowflakes.....
Pilchards Posted 7 March, 2018 Posted 7 March, 2018 Poch on trying to sign Astori while at Southampton... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/03/06/mauricio-pochettino-tried-sign-davide-astori-southampton/ Be interesting to find out why we never signed him if Mopo wanted him?
SKD Posted 7 March, 2018 Posted 7 March, 2018 Poch on trying to sign Astori while at Southampton... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/03/06/mauricio-pochettino-tried-sign-davide-astori-southampton/ Has Poch just effectively admitted to tapping him up I had the possibility to meet him five years ago because it was my idea to sign him when we were at Southampton. I took three hours to have lunch with him and he was a great kid, great person, great professional, great player.
GGalpin Posted 7 March, 2018 Posted 7 March, 2018 Wow the stuff some of you throw around on here and then turns out you are all snowflakes..... Snowflakes, a term apparently used to describe someone who is easily hurt or sensitive to opinion, used by people who get rather sensitive or easily hurt by someone not sharing their stupid opinion. The height of irony.

Bad Wolf Posted 8 March, 2018 Posted 8 March, 2018 Am I a bad person because my first thought was, "We dodged a bullet there" And my second thought was, "Actually Liverpool dodged a bullet there" Not for thinking it. You can't control what comes into your mind. However for posting in publicly in a tribute thread, you're absolute ****. No doubt you were trying to be funny and thought everyone would laugh too. Absolute bellend.
Dr. Kucho Posted 8 March, 2018 Posted 8 March, 2018 Photos from Astori's funeral today, very moving. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-5476679/Fiorentina-players-arrive-funeral-Davide-Astori.html

hypochondriac Posted 8 March, 2018 Posted 8 March, 2018 Why do you care? He's just a name and image on a screen.Because I know that losing someone you are close to is very upsetting. I'm not personally affected by his death because I don't know anything about him but I'm sure there are people who were very close to him. He's just a face on a screen to me but to those who knew him personally he was obviously a lot more.
