CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 I guess we'd like him back but something like this looks far more likely IMO : http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/scottish/baird-is-now-on-rangers-list-14143100.html Just paper talk at the moment .
Ponty Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 I can't see Chris' missus letting him move the family to Scotland.
Toomer Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 I can't see Chris' missus letting him move the family to Scotland. Agree Ponty, she dug her heals in when he left us she did not want to move from Winchester, close to her family where they still live.
The Cat Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 I used to work with his missus. She was quite annoying.
James_O_Mac Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 I used to work with his missus. She was quite annoying. Fit?
Whitey Grandad Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Also in the Mail... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1118348/Bolton-weighing-Benficas-Makukula-West-Brom-bid-fails.html
Charlie Wayman Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Players don't return to their old clubs, period! There's too much ignominy involved on all sides. Anyway, if he's crap at Fulham why would he be less than crap here?
Pancake Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Players don't return to their old clubs, period! Apart from Kevin Davies, Graeme Le Saux, Jermaine Defoe, Peter Crouch.... etc etc etc.
krissyboy31 Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 I'm sure CB and his missus would love him to come back to St Marys but unforetunately, there is no way we could offer anything like the wages he is currently on and probably nowhere near what he was on when he left. If we were to loan him, it would mean that Fulham having to pay a large percentage of his wages but I get the feeling they want him off their books altogether and therefore looking to sell. That rules us out.
eelpie Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 If he came back there is a little matter of his relationship with Kelvin. They did not always get on and there were several mix-ups which caused a goal or two. Meanwhile Kelvin is enjoying the best form of his career. So there is no advantage in Chris coming back imo.
Papa Shango Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Surely Rangers can do a lot better than Baird?
Bailey Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Would be great to have Baird back but I don't think our finances would allow it. Given the chance, I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to return, but unfortunately it's very very unlikely.
RinNY Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Players don't return to their old clubs, period! There's too much ignominy involved on all sides. Anyway, if he's crap at Fulham why would he be less than crap here? 1. we play in a lower league than Fulham 2. at Fulham he has been played at RB, we might likely play him at CB, where he has performed very well in the past Need more reasons?
Leicestersaint Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Apart from Kevin Davies, Graeme Le Saux, Jermaine Defoe, Peter Crouch.... etc etc etc. Mick Channon?
Chez Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Players don't return to their old clubs, period! There's too much ignominy involved on all sides. Anyway, if he's crap at Fulham why would he be less than crap here? Fulham play in the Premiership against world class oponents showing up his lack of pace and height, we play in the CCC where world class players are few and far between. I doubt Rangers will buy Baird - they have massive financial problems hence willing to sell any of their players. They might loan him though.
offix Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Forget Baird, just another player who left us for "glory" and didn't fiind it.
Whitey Grandad Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Forget Baird, just another player who left us for "glory" and didn't fiind it. Well he wasn't going to find it with us, was he?
cellone Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Does he still stop playing, stand still and wave his arm's in the air whilst watching the opposition score again.
southamptonfclegend Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Well he wasn't going to find it with us, was he? i'm correct in think for us he played in an F.A cup final and at fulham he's done SH*T all so you work that out
team-saint Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 i'm correct in think for us he played in an F.A cup final yeah 4 years before he left us, and over that 4 years everything had gone wrong....
Gorgiesaint Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Does he still stop playing, stand still and wave his arm's in the air whilst watching the opposition score again. We trained him well!! Actually means he'll fit straight back into the side without any problems - apart from Kelvin wondering why he's been exposed again
Whitey Grandad Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 i'm correct in think for us he played in an F.A cup final and at fulham he's done SH*T all so you work that out tbh I think that the money was a bigger tempatation than the promise of glory.
