Positive thinking - an embarrassing defeat to Wigan would surely see Pellegrino get the sack?!

TBF it would be wayyyyyyy too late for any change to make an impact! we'd be well into march.

So a very high pitched voiced makes a gravelly voiced man sound high pitched. Teehee

You find Paul Cook to have a high pitched voice? Id like to hear your wife.

They beat two PL teams to get to the City game.

I meant that game - 79% possession for City etc. Will be tricky for sure but assume we will play our strongest side, whatever that is.

On the flip side, it could spur the board in to action. Ralph might look at the fixtures, clear the 5 pledges from his desk, and realise that any new manager could be offered a realistic shot at a up final.

Speaking of which, what are the rules regarding euro places? Does it go to runner up, or revert to league position? Because that could seriously impact the board position on the manager. The chance to turn a disastrous relegation bound season into a campaign to secure european football via the worlds oldest cup competition might be the only thing besides fan pressure that could shift pellegrino, and hand them a winning PR motive for breaking them out of their current mindset.

Given the teams they have already beaten, it would be no embarrassment whatsoever. In fact they'll probably start as favourites.

No Europa League place for the runners up anymore.

Only the winner gets a European place. If the winner has already qualified for Europe, it goes to the 7th placed league team.

That's the problem - HE still doesn't even know who his best 11 are.

We could do a 'Wigan', win the FA Cup and get relegated in the same season. Not sure if I want that tbh......but I'd take it

Semis suddenly looking good. Wigan is tricky whereas Citeh was no chance. That was a one off, we need to seize this opportunity.

If Wigan can beat City, why declare Saints as having no chance? It would have been extremely difficult at the Etihad of course, but declaring it "no chance" is clearly nonsense.

In a heart beat.... wouldn't even think twice

I wish; most of us wish - but it's wishful thinking, isn't it?

What sort of allocation would saints get there? 10 per cent in fa cup isn't it? Although Wigan don't sell out ground so maybe larger than 10 per cent if the club want it?

15% are the rules

Top of the League 1 against bottom(probably will be by then) of the Prem........

I think it may give the players a lift knowing we have Wigan rather than City to beat for another trip to Wembley!

Posted

Wigan will deservedly turn up with balls the size of melons, and fair play to them! but if we can contain their initial enthusiam, no reason at all this is not winnable! COYS

Wigan were a team high on confidence, playing at home against 10 men. 3 key elements in their favour we wouldn't have had at the Etihad.

Not saying we couldn't beat City in the quarters but I think it would have been less likely personally.

What is up with some of you lot? We are Wigan away from the semis at Wembley and then who knows? It's been a rubbish season but this is a lovely distraction.

We'll get the whole end behind the goal like City did, about 4000 I think.

That result tonight may actually help Saints season, it will give our players a real boost knowing that they have more of a chance of reaching a semi final at Wembley. HOPEFULLY we can get a few positive results in the league before the Wigan game. Wigan will be more adventurous against us and that will actually help us i believe.

wigan played well, but absolutely no reason why we can't win if we play our best. I was at bramell lane in 2014, so know only too well how to **** up a great opportunity in the cup, but right now prefer to think positively. We have a better chance of winning the cup now than we did before tonight. Happy days.

As was I. Christ we were dogsh*t that day.

Fifth round - WBA away

Qtr final - unexpected opposition from Third Division(L1).

1976 all over again.

Don't you go getting our hopes up!

Chances of this being on the weekend? Be ****e if they stick it Friday or Monday but it'll be on the BBC (probably) and they seem to have a habit of it.

We are going to Wembley. I had a funny feeling during the west brom game. After all the goal line clearances and woodwork. Bet on us beating wigan because we will.
