BotleySaint Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Hanging on at the end. But a wins a win. Into the next round!
trousers Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Never any doubt Sims needs to get a run in the team. Adds a bit of a spark in the final third.
Saint_clark Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Bit more confidence there and someone could have had a 50 yard tap in. Sent from my SM-J330FN using Tapatalk
5string Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 I wish. Brighton QF would be cool. Memories of 1986 at the Goldstone Ground.
Viking Saint Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Positives: a win and hopefully some confidence Negatives: keeps this arseclown in a job
DuncanRG Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Another wobbly second half but we defended well when it came to it and McCarthy had a great game. I'd rather play away than at home at the moment. Hoedt needs to get these mistakes out of his game.
davefoggy Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 I think the only team worse than us this season is WBA!!! Good to be in the quarter finals though, lets keep going
Mr X Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 good in terms of the result but again West Brom the better team 2nd half!
skintsaint Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 QF's! A crap performance but would rather look **** and win than look good and lose
obelisk Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Sleeping pills at half time again then. A result though.
musesaint Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Let’s brighten our depressing season by winning the FA Cup Easy
davefoggy Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 I hate the BBC, I've concluded. The coverage on 5 live extra was unbelievably anti Saints
yellow&blue Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Good win, nice to see Josh Sims back and his contribution gave us more options and that much needed pace going forward - will be like a new signing.
Pamplemousse Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 We were pretty poor. West Brom were even worse. We will have to improve next week, no way we will beat Burnley without a massive improvement.
Norm Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Wow! WBA woke up second half. Under pressure but a good win. 22 shots v our 4. Well done Saints.
Manuel Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Again, everyone but the strikers. Good win and we were better but it would be nice to see our £15m strikers get a goal. That said Carrillo was busy and set up Tadic.
ButtikonSaint Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 A win's a win... Better defensive showing by the lads.. Mccarthy motm.. 2 upfront lasted all of 10mins, pity... Lemina massive, Hoj not too far behind... Liked JWP nagging and showing some attitude, our team needs to get nastier. We March On
Batman Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 best team lost IMO McCarthy our MoM carrillo very isolated cedric terrible stephens ball watching in the air again thought tadic was decent with Bertrand liked sims when he was on Nothing happened that gave me any shred of hope the team will get out of the mess no doubt MP will go in about how we are growing
Saint Albert Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 I wonder if Pardew will be in charge for W. Brom’s next PL game.
OttawaSaint Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Winning breeds confidence, we did a lot of good stuff. Pleased with the win.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Sims is 10 times the player that Redmond is. Overall a lucky win even though we were the better team...what does that say?!?!
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Pellegrino in we need to concentrate on the Cup now

wessex saint Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 WBA deserved a draw at least. Incredibly lucky to win. Bearing in mind WBA are by far the weakest team in the league it doesn’t bode well. Average 1st half and then yet again an MP half time team talk and we were all over the shop 2nd half. Hoedt reminds me of a Sunday league defender. Looks great abou 70% of the time but commits a few absolute howlers every game. Didn’t see anything today that makes me think we’ll get out of trouble in the league. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
obelisk Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Could have easily lost that in the second half again. Are the team fit enough to last 90 minutes?
Batman Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Ridiculously negative.please tell where I am wrong.
washsaint Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 For gawds sake - we are in the QFs of the Cup. This season has been terrible but at least enjoy todays win - we are 2 games away from a Cup Final. Some of you need to get a bit of perspective on life.....there is far more to it than Saints for sure.
Forester Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Watched game out here in Spain, much the better side first half but hanging on second half. Classy goal from Tadic with excellent Guido assist on the counter attack. McCarthy, Bertrand and Stephens all excellent. Quarter finals here we come!
Disco Stu Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Game of two halves. We really need to keep the intensity and tempo for the full 90 as switching off like that in the league would have cost us. Having said that, a win's a win and anything to install some confidence is very welcome.
SuperSAINT Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 WBA must be woeful to lose to us twice. Both teams are poor & will likely both get relegated. Sims will likely get left out by MP for looking effective in attack.
stknowle Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 please tell where I am wrong. OK I'll tell you. The best team did not lose. I'd say a draw would have probably been about right but if any team deserved to win the away team that dominated the first half, carved out a 2 nil lead and then held on despite being battered for most of the 2nd half was that team.

Thanks, I was waiting for the perspective from Spain!
Dellman Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Yoshida is safer at the back than Hoedt. He used to get heavy criticism on this forum for his mistakes but he has improved and Hoedt makes more and worse
DT Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Good win. Wish it was three points, but good win Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nutwood2 Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Thank the Lord Sims is back. For just about the only time this season I witnessed a piece of positivity ! Was he allowed to do that Mr Pelligrini?
Heisenberg Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Wish we could play wba every week :badger::badger::badger:
stknowle Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 who would you say was out best player throughout the game? Nobody particularly stood out. Who would you say was West Brom's best player throughout the game?

Andy Durman Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 Look at the stats until we were 2-0. WBA have to come at us so of course the game changes. Bertrand was just instinctive to get back onto the line and head away. Brilliant and for that alone we deserve to win. Shots on goal mean nothing. Biggest stat is we scored 1 more than they did. Romeu is part of the problem. Højbjerg is the solution. Note how we stopped passing when he went of. Gabbiadini was a disgrace. Is he unfit. Not enough work rate. Sims made a fantastic impact. The defence dealt with the long ball well.
Give it to Ron Posted 17 February, 2018 Posted 17 February, 2018 As we have beaten WBA 3 times this season do we get to keep them? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
