Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 15 January, 2009 Posted 15 January, 2009 Amazing. The article makes even less sense when translated into English!! LUPOLI, the ready Southampton to take it 15.01.2009 12,48 of Conterio Mark E' in program for this afternoon an encounter between the leadership of the Southampton and the agents of Arthur Lupoli. The player, that he has given l' goodbye to the Norwich with months d' advance payment, is always of property of the Fiorentina but the Saints seems disposed to find it from, quickly on loan oneroso. To care, yesterday, Pantaleo Corvino it does not have intentional to cant itself but it is clearly that the future of Lupoli will not be in river all' Arno.

Depends whether you translate it accurately. It just says that there was to be a meeting between Saints & Lupoli's agents this past afternoon; that Lupoli had left Norwich months early, but that Saints were ready to step in & take over his loan; and that his future doesn't lie beside the Arno (the river that flows through Florence). Good move by Saints if it's all true.
Scudamore Posted 15 January, 2009 Posted 15 January, 2009 The Fiorentina website, and something along the lines of Lupoli and his representation being in Southampton to negotiate a loan deal until the end of the season. I believe this is the official site - http://it.violachannel.tv/
thorpie the sinner Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 What time does Lupoli need to sign by to make him eligible for tomorrows game?

Windmill Arm 2 Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 What time does Lupoli need to sign by to make him eligible for tomorrows game? Poortaloo wont play him v Donny anyway, he'll stick with Saga and McGoaldrought.:smt078
Pancake Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Poortaloo wont play him v Donny anyway, he'll stick with Saga and McGoaldrought.:smt078 So its "sick" that JP would stick with a "2 in 2" form striker and another one that 90% of people on here want to start... Odd.
saintwarwick Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Poortaloo wont play him v Donny anyway, he'll stick with Saga and McGoaldrought.:smt078 Mcgoaldrik two in two games, Saga back in the fold, you haven't a fvcking clue, as always windbag totally clueless.
NickG Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 would be disappointed if he didn't play Saga and DMG tomorrow.
trousers Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 What time does Lupoli need to sign by to make him eligible for tomorrows game? What time? Given the recent Saga saga we a time machine.

Master Bates Posted 16 January, 2009 Author Posted 16 January, 2009 signed over the phone from Norwich???? No, Norwich's equivalent to our Daily Echo phoned the Echo newsdesk saying it is definately happening with Lupoli coming to us.
slickmick Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 would be disappointed if he didn't play Saga and DMG tomorrow. Wouldn't be disappointed with Saga and Lupoli.
NickG Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 maybe all three! longer term maybe, but forwards are there to score and when a player has in last two games think he should start
thorpie the sinner Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 No, Norwich's equivalent to our Daily Echo phoned the Echo newsdesk saying it is definately happening with Lupoli coming to us. Echo telling Porkies, dear oh dear!!! I'm with you MB
NickG Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 this is getting a bit Skacel like! just searched news sites/sky sports etc -nothing
surrey1saint Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Just found this link: Lupoli Nearing Southampton Switch Italian striker Arturo Lupoli seems set to make a move to the Saints, if all goes well in today's meeting between the club and his agents. * »Comments (3) * Print This Story * Send To A Friend * Contact Us Lupoli Nearing Southampton Switch galleria zoom * * * Arturo Lupoli currently plays his football for Norwich City in the English Championship, on loan from Fiorentina. The talented young attacker has spent time at Arsenal, Derby County and Treviso in the past, but his immediate future seems set for a change of scenery. In 2005, Lupoli was Arsenal’s top scorer at youth level with an impressive 27 goals in 32 appearances. His stay with the Gunners was short-lived, however, as he was eventually loaned to Derby, and then signed for Fiorentina on a free transfer in 2007. English clubs have shown great interest in the starlet, with Southampton and Wigan Athletic at the front of the pack, but recently the Norwich player has had enquiries come in from Italy as well, with Torino in particular interested in the striker. It is likely that Fiorentina will use the transfer window to benefit from all the requests for Lupoli, and it now seems that Southampton may soon be announcing his arrival, as Lupoli's agents are meeting with delegates from the Saints this afternoon, according to Firenzeviola.it. Lupoli may be sold to the English south coast club before the transfer window closes, as it is unlikely that he will return to the Viola. Peter Pedroncelli, Goal.com
Whitey Grandad Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 McGoaldrought? How long is the drought this time? 12 minutes? A drop of rain on parched ground does not a flood make.
NickG Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 no but 7 league goals in half a season, two in two games is not a drought. Remember our top scorer most seasons, about half of last 20 odd seasons, has finished on less than 13!
hypochondriac Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 A drop of rain on parched ground does not a flood make. What a pathetic analogy. He has 2 goals in 2 games. He should start.

Remember our top scorer most seasons, about half of last 20 odd seasons, has finished on less than 13! infact, in stato mode he already has matched the top scorer for 95/96 (MLT/Shipperley) and 98/99 (MLT/Ostenstad). form/confidence is key thing for forward -he should start.
eelpie Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Isn't he a bit short of height? We need a tough, tall striker who can head a ball over massed defences.
NickG Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Playing much less games though tbf. I know, and harder league but better team etc -hard to compare.
eelpie Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Wouldn't be disappointed with Saga and Lupoli. It probably means Saga is going to make way for Lupoli.
NickG Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 16 January 2009 Lupoli linked with Southampton DAVID CUFFLEY, EVENING NEWS SPORT Striker Arturo Lupoli has again been linked with a move from the Canaries to fellow Championship strugglers Southampton. The 21-year-old regained his place in the City starting line-up for the last two matches of Glenn Roeder's reign as manager after scoring the equaliser in the FA Cup at Charlton a fortnight ago, when he came on as a substitute. Before that trip to The Valley, the Italian talked of quitting Norwich if he didn't get first team football and was linked with Serie A clubs Sampdoria and Torino. Unconfirmed reports in Italy claimed Lupoli's agents were in talks with Southampton yesterday, though sources on the South Coast suggest manager Jan Poortvliet will be unable to bring in new faces without trimming his squad, especially after the return of high earner Marek Saganowski to St Mary's Stadium. The Polish international is back from a loan spell with Danish side Aalborg to boost Southampton's strike force. Lupoli joined City from Fiorentina for the season in July, though as an overseas player, it was not on a conventional loan deal but a one-year contract. He has scored five times for the club in 17 appearances. Lupoli's agents met with delegates from the Saints yesterday, according to Firenzeviola.it
saintjay77 Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 It probably means Saga is going to make way for Lupoli. I think before White got injured you might have been right but in any case for saga to move again it would mean he would have played for 3 clubs this season. isnt there some ruling against that happening? They were probably looking to loan white out again and get in lupoli to make sure we still have a choice of strikers but now i cant see any of our strikers leaving without some dosh coming in.

I hope you are right. With Skacel currently suspended we are short of experience in the team for the crucial matches ahead.
saintjay77 Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 I hope you are right. With Skacel currently suspended we are short of experience in the team for the crucial matches ahead. just reading that post from NickG its back to looking like its highly unlikly again. Shame though cause I think he would get a run with us and do quite well where as saga (as much as i like him) hasnt had an effect with us for quite some time. I almost wish we could scrap the lot and start again. but we cant afford to just offload the likes of saga, euell and skacel but having them all with us is restricting what we can do elsewhere.

I checked back on the Echo story on this and it said that he wouldn't be allowed to move abroad again if he plays for us (which he has) but he could move to another British club...
Matt SFC Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Has Lupoli signed yet? if this doesn't happen MB is a twot FACT
Whitey Grandad Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 I hope you are right. With Skacel currently suspended we are short of experience in the team for the crucial matches ahead. How many matches does Skacel miss? He's already served one, hasn't he?
Bailey Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11232 Does this article suggest the Lupoli deal is unlikely? I can't see us being able to bring in AL whilst keeping hold of Saga. Surely we can't afford that financially? Still, here's hoping to be proved wrong!
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Maybe it will be a case of replacing an AL (Lallana) with an AL (Lupoli), if it seems like Saga is going to be staying?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 I see Norwich have recalled Cureton from Barnsley. Hopefully this is a promising sign?!
Toomer Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Yet again all this hype and no player, where have I seen this before.
VectisSaint Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 How many matches does Skacel miss? He's already served one, hasn't he? One But now he's probably suspended by the club because of his comments, bit like him being "injured" for the game before his suspension.
hypochondriac Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Has Lupoli signed yet? if this doesn't happen MB is a twot FACT Not really. MB has a history of providing accurate news before it breaks. You on the other hand I have never heard of.
thorpie the sinner Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Not really. MB has a history of providing accurate news before it breaks. You on the other hand I have never heard of. Just what I was going to say!!
NickG Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Has signed for Saints, announcement to follow at some point. IMHO this is clearly wrong, or premature at best. If he had signed at the time of this post it would have been announced by both, or at least one of the clubs by now. He may have been approached, or in talks but can't see how he could have been signed but everyone is keeping it a secret!
scott_saints Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 He would be a good signing. Based on this reasoning, I can't see him coming to Saints.
Bailey Posted 16 January, 2009 Posted 16 January, 2009 Has Lupoli signed yet? if this doesn't happen MB is a twot FACT Have to disagree with this mate. More often than not, MB gets things spot on.
