Giving away fans a large section

Giving away fans a large section, is this something we have to do?

In such a vital game giving Brighton so many tickets seems a mistake to me, unless it is the rules. We gave them the chance to have basically a home end of support, ok we get more money in ticket sales, but if we don't need to do so surely the winning of the game by getting the best advantage would have been best.

I know the support is not a massive reason for a result, but having that extra support does lift a team, especially when attacking the away end.

It also dilutes the Saints fans volume, the Northam maythink they can be heard, but whenthe away support at that end outnumbers the home fans they get drowned out

The rules have been in place for years (and repeated on here time after time), in the Premier League visiting clubs are entitled to a minimum 10% of the gate up to 3,000. Some clubs, like us, offer slightly more only due to segregation issues on the concourse (around 3,200). For cup games, I believe, you have to give up a minimum 15%.

Brighton only had what they were entitled to, it's not their fault if most of our fans aren't very loud.

We don't have home and away ends we have an end so the noise from both sets of fans is diluted I always thought it was a shame the most vocal set of our fans decided they needed to be right next to the away fans so they could give it the look at how hard I am nonsense and spend half the game gesturing across the segregation and not watching the game.

Besides the result last night is nothing to do with fans, it's a dodgy manager picking a poor team and setting them up to fail combined with players that have clearly lost any belief in him and his 'system' until he goes the club will remain in in a downward spiral. It's really sad that it has come to this but it feels totally like the last premier league relegation season we are loosing games we should be winning and throwing away leads the only thing missing was some dodgy wheeler dealing in the transfer window! The real question is will it be lemina or Hojberg who flattens a ref and gets a 10 game ban!

But that's not what happens at most grounds. They take the segregation out of the away allocation, so often it is less than 10%, we take our segregation out of the home sections and give more to away fans.

It's symbolic of the club, too nice, too accommodating to others.

100% agree. I had never thought about the segregation part.

You're right, segregation is generally taken out of the away allocation at most grounds but at St Mary's it's different. As I understand it, the divider on the concourse separating home and away fans determines the situation. Home fans couldn't have any more of Block 41 unless the visitors only take the small allocation up to the next concourse divider and giving up the entire block.

It's changed this season. Away teams are getting a bigger allocation.
