BridgnorthSaint Posted 28 January, 2018 Share Posted 28 January, 2018 The Daily Mail are reporting that West Ham are attempting to lure Graziano Pelle to East London as an Andy Carroll replacement! Should we go in for him? He is 32 but may be still able to do a job for us and get us out of this current mire. Thoughts?

I'm surprised Chelsea haven't been linked.

Micky Posted 28 January, 2018 Share Posted 28 January, 2018 We shouldn't have sold him in the first place but unfortunately the economics of football won the day, as they do in 99 percent of transfers. Great player for us when he was here, but both parties have moved on, would hate to see him at WHU though. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk Keeping a player who obviously wanted to leave didn't exactly work with Virgil did it. I liked Pelle and he still seems to keep an eye open for Saints, so I hope he doesn't end up with that shower of sh*te. Having said that would be a typically West Ham signing - Big wages on a short term stop gap, just because he happened to look good at another Prem. club for a while. waylander Posted 28 January, 2018 Share Posted 28 January, 2018 Isn't Pelle on huge money in China that Wet Spam would struggle to match. .
niceandfriendly Posted 28 January, 2018 Share Posted 28 January, 2018 Eurgh, would hate to see that. Wish he was still here. Would be surprised if West Ham can continue to keep him within the top highest paid 10 footballers in the world. He has scored some wonder goals for Shandong. So he’s contract is up at the end of the season. Bet he can’t find anyone willing to pay him 250k/pw after that

Nordic Saint Posted 28 January, 2018 Share Posted 28 January, 2018 I'm not sure that Pelle was all that desperate to leave. I think it was more a case of the club taking what they saw as the last chance to get a big transfer fee for a player over 30. He always seems a fairly laid back chap who'd be happy whatever. Paying him a big salary for a loan or short contract would certainly cost less than the 19 million + salary we paid for Carrillo. The Chinese Super League season runs from March to November. Getting him on loan for a couple of months until Austin is fit to play again would have been a good idea.
CB Fry Posted 28 January, 2018 Share Posted 28 January, 2018 If he is available why aren't Chelsea all over It? He's better than all the other lumbering lumps they've been linked with and pretty sure Conte used to pick him for Italy.
