doddisalegend Posted 23 January, 2018 Share Posted 23 January, 2018 Manchester City consolidated their place in the top five and Leicester City rose to 14th, from 20th*last year, with television revenue the biggest single revenue stream for all of the 20 richest clubs Whilst all Premier League clubs benefited from the improved broadcast deals, it was Southampton and Leicester’s performance in European competitions which saw them gain their highest ever respective positions. so a short term bubble then? benjii Posted 23 January, 2018 Share Posted 23 January, 2018 It's the vicissitudes of broadcasting revenue what done it. Europa League and League Cup run. At the end of the day, our wage bill will be a big whack of revenue (60%+ I expect) and we obviously have other costs so we won't have oodles of money swishing about, although evidently the team is underperforming this year. A rational analysis of the figures won't stop the usual dullards from giving it the "where's the fackin money gone then?!", "asset stripping, mush!"..... benjii Posted 23 January, 2018 Share Posted 23 January, 2018 (edited) are Everton 20th? yet, we apparently can't compete with them!? See what Everton's revenue looks like next year once Usmanov's sponsorship money starts coming in. It's also worth noting that we haven't filed accounts covering last season. Our last filed accounts covered up to 30 June 2016. I presume these Deloitte figures must be estimates based on broadcasting deals and publicised sponsorships, along with extrapolations based on previous performance. Some of the less transparent deals which aren't publicised probably aren't taken into account as without detailed audited accounts there's no way of knowing what the details are. Doctoroncall Posted 23 January, 2018 Share Posted 23 January, 2018 Do that stats include transfer revenue? I suspect not. From an article it states according to European football clubs’ 2016-17 financial information, collated by the accountants Deloitte. 2016-17 revenue in £m (v 2015-16 revenue) 1) Manchester United 581.2 (515.3) 2) Real Madrid 579.7 (463. 3) Barcelona 557.1 (463. 4) Bayern Munich 505.1 (442.7) 5) Manchester City 453.5 (392.6) 6) Arsenal 419 (350.4) 7) PSG 417.8 (389.6) Chelsea 367.8 (334.6) 9) Liverpool 364.5 (302) 10) Juventus 348.6 (253.5) 11) Tottenham 305.6 (209.2) 12) Borussia Dortmund 285.8 (212.3) 13) Atlético Madrid 234.2 (171)~ 14) Leicester City 233 (128.7) 15) Internazionale 225.2 (134) 16) Schalke 197.8 (167.9) 17) West Ham 183.3 (143. 18) Southampton 182.3 (124.3) 19) Napoli 172.5 (107. 20) Everton 171.2 (121.5) If the big two Spanish sides decide to share the TV money more equally then it could change and the Bundesliga clubs will have a boost in income from next season. VectisSaint Posted 23 January, 2018 Share Posted 23 January, 2018 Do that stats include transfer revenue? I suspect not. The report is about revenue, so why wouldn't it include transfer income? Revenue is income from normal business activities, which for football clubs would have to include transfer dealings. It is a bit misleading to say this is a list of the richest clubs, because it does not include outgoings or assets, but it is one indicator among several. It's purely revenue generated by broadcasting, match day income, and commercial deals. That is unless Deloitte have changed the way they structure these thangs. As someone mentioned above, we haven't released last season's accounts yet, but Everton's revenue jumped £50m based on broadcasting alone, from £122m to £172m total . Our revenue was approx £122m during Everton's £122m season, and you'd expect a similar increase in Prem broadcast revenue, along with Europa League and League Cup money = ~£180m. As always, happy to be corrected. Edited 23 January, 2018 by Donatello
a1ex2001 Posted 23 January, 2018 Share Posted 23 January, 2018 Means nothing most of the money goes straight back out in wages the Prem might be the richest league in the world but that just means we have the richest players in the world every increase in revenue just corresponds to a bump in wages. Saints are paying players sums that were unimaginable even 5 years ago let alone ten and the top four are living in a different world the Sanchez deal is jaw dropping even in the current crazy climate! SW5 SAINT Posted 25 January, 2018 Share Posted 25 January, 2018 I see the reports states that we may struggle to retain our place due to failure to qualify for the Europa League. Topcat Posted 25 January, 2018 Share Posted 25 January, 2018 (edited) Is that a genuine researched statistic? Interesting if so. I read it in our previous Prem relegation season. More thorough and recent analysis over the 28 years to 2014 analysis indicates that it is only a:- 1 in 4 chance of back up the following season. 1 in 3 chance (34%) in 2 years. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/championship/10826050/How-often-do-relegated-Premier-League-clubs-bounce-straight-back-from-the-Championship.html Edited 25 January, 2018 by Topcat
