FM 2009 - crashes

could not resist temptation and got FM 09...trouble is though, it crashes every now and than...

 

NB. have downloaded all the face packs and logos with different skins and tactics...would this have anything to do with it...along with patch 9.2

not well informed (invalid token) at line 1 of speed.xml

 

 

it is an XML Parsing error or something

If you have a shortcut on your desktop you can do the following:

 

* Right-click on the FM shortcut.

* Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.

* In the "Target" field, add the --reset_preferences command line option after "fm.exe", so it should look like this:

"C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\fm.exe" --reset_preferences

* Press OK and then try to run the game as normal, using the shortcut.

 

You'll want to remove the command after you run the game, as otherwise it will continue to reset your preferences every time you launch.

 

If you don't have a shortcut you can make one and then perform the instructions on the shortcut you've made.

 

* If you purchased and installed the game through Steam you should be able to find the fm.exe in the following directory:

C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Football Manager 2009/

* If you purchased and installed the game from a boxed DVD copy you should be able to find the fm.exe in the following directory:

C:/Program Files/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/

 

Other XML Errors

 

First of all you need to turn on hidden files and folders. Go to My Computer and at the top select 'Tools' the 'Folder Options'. The go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

 

Delete the following folder:

 

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\settings

 

Vista: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\settings

 

This may solve some issues regarding the XML Errors

did that...and it now crashes everytime I go to play a game....

yeah Mine did that last night after downloading these files:

 

Premier League Kit,Logo, Face superpack

International pack

Premier League - Football League stadium back grounds, just froze every time I went to a match.

 

Removed the international and Stadium packs, works fine

I had these....might just stick to downloading skins and tactics...

well..got rid of all the additional files I downloaded..ie, skins, tactics etc

 

and it still crashes with that error message when you play a game..

 

 

what a load of crap...£20 wasted...shall not be buying this game again.

Mine works fine tbh, had very little problems with it, which is surprising considering the number of people who seem to have had problems with the game.

it doesnt even work on my PC, keep getting a message saying something about graphics!!

I un-installed steam and FM including the graphics I had, reset preferences, fingers crossed

I had the same problem. In the preferences, go to display options and choose windowed. Works a treat.

Another problem that has been reported a lot on FM specific forums is reports of game saves corrupting if you are running a torrenting program whilst you play so watch out for that.
